We arrived at Waterloo station fairly late on one evening and we're looking for something to eat…read more Unfortunately, one of the restaurants that we tried was still open, but saying they had very limited menu but chose not to tell us what the options were. So, we quickly headed out and looked for something else. We stumbled into M&s and, even though it was later in the day, they still had a variety of options to choose from. We grabbed a few sandwiches, snacks, and drinks and headed out. Overall, this definitely wasn't the best meal we had in London, but it was one of the most convenient and it was tasty for the price. It gave us just enough energy to keep going and did at least a result in us wandering through for additional snacks at least one more time during our visit. As foreigners in this location, it did take us a little bit to acclimate to the process of selecting our food and paying but overall it was very easy and we were on our way quickly. I wish we had more options like this in the US!

This is a great little M&S. It's well stocked and they have some of the Christmas items too…read more Definitely impressed with the selection given the size of the store. It's always very busy and they were out of plant milk alternatives this evening, but otherwise it's a great location to pick up last minute meals and essentials.

Marks & Spencer - Christmas Sando. Nice, different flavour to traditional sandwiches. It has a subtle kick to it.

I visited London a few weeks ago and we were conveniently staying around the corner from this Tesco…read moresupermarket. I was unfortunately unwell for most of the trip, however this particular Tesco became my lifesaver. My appetite sort of disappeared and I only felt like eating fruit and the occasional crisp and popcorn. Tesco provided all sorts of fruit containers which were amazing and I happily ate them all week - my favourite was the watermelon, rockmelon and pineapple combo. You can also get fresh coconut or apple chunks, depending on what fruits you like. They were priced at £2-3, which I thought was great! They also sell frozen meals, fruit and vegetables, cold drinks, wine and beer, a range of snacks, dairy products and sweet treats. I even saw Collective NZ yoghurt - how cool! My favourite products were their takeaway salads and meals, fresh fruit and the Proper Popcorn packs. But the best thing was their ice creams. On our last night, we had frozen Mars Bars and Snickers ice creams which we don't have in New Zealand. They were so creamy and delicious!!! Service was always friendly when we visited, which made us keep coming back. If you're staying in the area, then I highly recommend you come here as they have great stock!

This place is the grocery equivalent to an eccentric old man's house. It has loads of random stuff…read moreand it's overstocked shelves and lack of visible order make it very North African market-esque. However it is really good for the basics. It is more expensive than the bigger supermarkets for food but it is essentially a convenience store so you pay a little extra for that. i am a regular food craver, so I have often had my food dreams fulfilled here. I am particularly partial to a late night microwave popcorn, which is £2.49 here, steep but you'll pay it in a hunger emergency. They usually have a deal on wine every week, recently I got two bottles of pinot grigio for £5 which was a total bargain. Unfortunately the ATM in store charges a hefty fee for usage and they don't accept credit/debit card for less than £10 so bring your cash.

They even have the exact same layout which is a bit of a headwreck, but I digress. I've only bought things here a few times and haven't been very impressed. I've found moldy food on the shelves and the ice cream I bought was clearly really, really old and had been melted and re-frozen a few times. Had to be pitched immediately upon opening. However, convenience factor here is high--they claim to be open 24 hours although I can't say I've yet to show up at 3 am to put that to the test. So if you want stanky food or a bottle of Buckfast in the middle of the night, this is totally the place to go.

This is a tiny Tesco Express location, located just outside Westminster Station, opposite Big Ben…read moreand the Houses of Parliament. The store is open between 7 am and 11 pm, which is generally expected for Tesco Express. Prices are inflated but no more than any other convenience store elsewhere in central London, the product range is small, given the size of the store, but they do sell products in most product categories, although the choice within them might be non-existent. The store is pretty much set up to walk down the aisle from entrance to exit in single file mode, the staff are friendly enough, the store is clean, and there are both manned and self-service checkouts. 3* - Really useful location to grab some essentials or a cold drink, but it is somewhere you'd want to get in and out of super quickly, due to how small the store is and how busy it can get.

You go in one door and you exit another. There's just enough room to start at the top of the aisle, and browse going down. There is usually a long line formed up the whole aisle to the registers. It moves pretty decently, though. Most people coming in were buying bottled water, salads or sandwiches. They also have a £3 "meal deal", for a drink, sandwich and chips. Sandwiches are less than £2, bottled water can range from 42p to 86p. Those are the two things I mainly came here for. This is the cheapest place I found to buy water. They also carry a lot of OTC meds like asprin, toothbrushes and toothpaste, anything a traveler might need that they forgot at home. It's located right across Parliament and next door to Cafe Nero and the Westminster Tube Station.
