I do love eating Cuban sandwiches at 5am but who wouldn't, plus they are only 3 dollars from publix. So when I give a fishing place five stars it is for a variety of reasons, all of which were apparent today. Yes, i am writing this on the boat. Yes that is a really obnoxious Asian tourist thing to do, but in my defense, fuck you. I just lived through a battle to the death. At first we simply caught snapper and some baitfish. It was peaceful in that blue morning light, streams of gold cutting through the cloud cover. Then we moved on; the tranquil morning undone by eddying wake. The next spot saw our poles bent in fury - triggerfish, ancient red snapper like crimson guards of neptunes palace, and other larger fish proved to be tougher adversaries. The blackfin tuna caught us by surprise. The pole twisted in my brothers grip and we fought as a team, shouting direction, switching off when one of us was too tired...the reward was a silvered beauty that lay on the deck, spent and heaving until august(the shiphand) cooly slipped a knife into its heartline. The blood pumped out like roses in rain, and i watched the tuna die and thought today would be a true feast. Then we caught the shark. I tried to reel it in but my hands found no strength after the first 15 minutes. We switched off and gave the shark line, watching the spool disappear into that clear water. The battle was long and masterful and somewhere within it i found a true appreciation for what lies around us - the cruel beauty of nature like a perfume that rose from each wave. These guys are not only a great captain and ship hand, they are the best. My family had the best deep sea fishing experience ever for a very reasonable price, with extremely knowledgeable guys. Book with them and you will not be disappointed.

My brother in law and I went out yesterday, and Captain Nick took great care of us. We were…read moreoriginally scheduled to depart at 4:00 pm, but due to a no show/no call (who does that?!) by a charter scheduled for earlier in the day, we were contacted to see if we wanted to go out earlier. Given the forecast of storms later in the day, we headed toward the marina within minutes. While on the way to the marina, Captain Nick called to make sure we were aware of the less than ideal conditions and to advise us that he'd do everything he could to make sure we got out and caught some fish as long as it was safe to do so. He knew we were making about an hour drive in traffic to get there, so I appreciated him calling to make sure we knew what to expect. We were greeted upon arrival and on our way out shortly thereafter. We had some rough waters with storms hugging the coast and what became a tropical storm the next day rolling in, but Captain Nick made sure we stayed as comfortable and dry as possible on our way out to some fishing spots. We made several stops and had bites just about every time we dropped a line. Captain Nick did a great job of explaining and demonstrating the technique for each type of fish, and he showed great patience with a couple midwesterners accustomed to setting hooks while bass fishing. We lost a number of fish (likely due to midwesterner operator error), but came in with 3 red snapper, 4 Mahi, and a white snapper. We also pulled in several other red snapper and a gag grouper which were put back because they didn't meet size limitations. It seems we didn't catch what other O Sea D charters had as of late, but I attribute that to weather conditions and in no way fault Captain Nick - he knows his stuff and his spots, as we had action nearly all of the time we were fishing. As the wind would push us away from the hot spots we'd pull up our bait, and he'd put us right back on top of the fish. Once the trip ended we headed back to the marina, and Captain Nick set us up for some pictures with our haul then cleaned everything for us to take home and eat. We had a cooler but not enough ice, and Captain Nick was gracious enough to load us back up with ice for the trip home. We had quite the feast that night, (some grilled and some fried) and all of it pulled from the gulf no more than 6 hours before we ate it! Within a couple hours after our charter ended, Captain Jeff (the owner) followed up with me to make sure we had a good time despite the tough conditions. He also sent me a photo Captain Nick had taken of us with our catch. Long story short, these guys are top notch in knowledge and customer service. We will be back for sure, and can't wait to bring others with us next time!

As I was traveling abroad, I did not have any beach chairs or an umbrella. Also needed a cooler as the temps were at 90+. I called the number provided numerous times. Each call ended with "sorry the mailbox is full". So my only option was to drive (which was 40 min). When I went to booth for the snorkel gear, was told they no longer had rentals there. They directed me to drive across the bridge. Only option was to buy everything which totaled over $125.00. Needless to say...a very expensive snorkel trip!
