This little bakery tucked away in a cozy neighborhood of Puerto Penasco is an excellent option for pastries, cakes, breads and sweet rolls. I got a tray full of goodies to bring home for the family before Thanksgiving. Also the employees were very helpful about letting me know the pesos to dollars conversion and that I could easily use my credit card. Whew! All of it for under $4(?)(!) Sweet bakery. Many different pastries. The apple fritters were wonderful. Good buns for sandwiches and tortas. Some were stuffed with cheese. They carry a few groceries like fresh eggs and milk. Conchas, polvorones, besos, mantecadas, and almost all of your Mexican favorites are ready to be part of your morning (or late night) breakfast. Pick up your favorites sugary sweets, be rung up at the register, and stroll happily into the day. Most of the 'panes dulces' will make your belly giddy and your tongue dance with sugar, but most of it might be the carb and sugar shock whilst eating. The mantecadas are specially delicious, as well as the cinnamon rolls and the apple fritter, which somehow managed to appear in a Mexican bakery. The rest of the lot will fill you up and give you a sugary rush, but not much else. The bakery also functions as a convenience store; buy some milk and chocolate to spend the night in true Mexican fashion. There is also a small fruits & veggies area, as well as sundries for your everyday needs. Panadería Cornejo also has another store on the north side of the city, if you do not want to make the trip to the southern side. Save this to have as a good option for local, freshly baked bread and pastries. read more

So glad we found this place. The bakery we use to go to in Old Town closed years ago (who remembers the one armed man??) His bread was soooo good! This place did not disappoint. We got cookies and danish and it's all been delicious!! Great prices too. read more
