Few things bring a smile to my face like the taste of warm, freshly baked bread. Here at this humble yet bustling neighborhood bakery, the bolillos (Mexican style) French bread is turning out steaming hot and crispy crusted.
The rolls are delicious and will make some ham or roast beef very happy. The inside is a little denser than I imagined, but when I toasted it up with some butter, I knew the bakers made no mistake. It holds up well to the toaster and soaks up that butter like magic.
They also make these small cinnamon rolls that are slightly lighter, sweet, and seasoned with just the right amount of cinnamon. Oh yeah, they have conchas, too.
I wish I could eat all the breads all the time, but I did not win the genetic lottery. Perhaps in another life. In this life and the next, at least I know where I can get amazing rolls for my tortas! read more
