The variety and portions of food were great. In order to really enjoy this place, you need to be ready to not really get exactly what you had in mind...which is great for the adventurous. Definitely ethnic and my best guess authentic. There was a good amount of a lunch rush and you will find things here you can't find for at least another 25 miles. The most helpful thing is that there are pictures of all the food so you can simply point to what looks good and order it that way. Clean enough and disposable, single-use plates and plastic utensils. read more

Tasteless. Old. Cold. First Time Ordering Here. With The Papusas. We Ordered, Told 30 Mins. But They Were COLD When We Got Them. Our Usual Spot Was Closed. So We Ventured. Tossed In Microwave & NO‼ We've Gone Further And The Papusas Were Still HOT. Didn't Even Taste Cheese. Just Beans. Never Coming Back Here. read more

Panaderia Pupuseria Renderos - PAPUSAS - Latin American Near Me - Houston, Texas

Went in to get 6 Pupusas. Waited over an hour while every one dining in was getting served right away. Have not return since.

The service here is really lacking. They are simply running around like chickens with their head cut off. They have no sense of detail or plan. They seem so confused and working at simple Cash register. Extremely slow at getting people in and out of their restaurant. They simply do not know what they are doing. Food: The food was OK. It wasn't bad it wasn't great. It was kind of like a middle of the mall type of food. Very greasy. They were decent. I probably wouldn't go back to be honest. It was nothing to just it out. The sweet bread was not sweet at all. Value: the price is really good though. Get a lot of food for a very little bit of money. Also the people that work in there are very nice. They are just simply extremely slow I do not know how to run a restaurant. They need some help. their lack of understanding business is really hurting their restaurant. I see this all the time and great food but they simply do not understand business and cannot run a restaurant. Good luck guys read more

Amazing! Great flavors! It definitely helps if you know some Spanish & what Salvadoran food you like!

Good food, best cabbage ever! Service was good too, helpful, not sure if I'd ever eat inside but definitely will order again thanks!

I hadn't had Papusas in a long time. Saw this place as we were passing by and I just had to try it. There was young lady whose English was superb and the rest was heavenly. Papusas were served piping hot, I tried the fruit salad drink...deliciousness. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon treat! read more

Panaderia Pupuseria Renderos - Chicken papusas, with veggie slaw and fruit salad drink~ - Latin American Near Me - Houston, Texas

A bit of a let down after our awesome Mexican meal the other day. I loved my dish (the seafood bisque). If it was just my meal, I would have given this place an easy four star. The soup was so delicious and packed full of seafood. All kinds of seafood including crab. I was pretty blown away. My son enjoyed his pupusas. Unfortunately, my husband didn't care as much for the chicken soup. They put half a chicken in it so it wasn't the lack of meat, but the flavor wasn't as rich and savory as other renditions we have had including a Salvadorean place we had tried in Wenatchee. We were also seriously disappointed in the panaderia selection. Half the reason why we chose this place over the half dozen others in the area. The selection was very meager and the panaderia we did end up with were stale and dry. I do highly recommend the seafood soup and the homemade tortillas/pupusas. But don't come for the panaderia. read more

they forgot to send my drink. called them 3 times and have not heard of a solution. I was told that I was going to get a call from the owner last night and I am still waiting. Very very bad customer service.

Amazing food and service every time. I have yet to order something I don't like, highly recommended.

OMG... I just had the best Seafood bisque at the most random Salvadorian restaurant that we drove by and decided to stop by. I fished out all of the seafood and put on a plate and found: - An entire blue crab that was super meaty - 2 large mussels - Over a dozen shrimp of all sizes - A whole fish - Imitation crab - Celery - Super Delicious Creamy Broth This large bowl only cost $12.99! I have to warn you that it isn't the most fancy place, but the soup, tamales and pupusa was on point. Our entire meal was only $20 plus some change. read more

My husband first introduced me to pupusas a couple of years ago, when we were driving by a Guatemalan place where we live. I was an instant fan! The way he compared the similarities and differences between what's offered at home, and what he originally tried in Houston really had my curiosity up. So naturally, while in Houston this weekend, I was excited to try some Salvadorian pupusas! I chose this place based on the options on their menu. We had several picky eaters that we were going to bring some back to, so options were a factor. The fact that they were open before lunch was also a factor. If I were going to rate the food alone, they would have gotten 5 stars! The food was 4 1/2 stars, but I would have rounded up because of my happy tummy. These are thicker and larger with crisper edges compared to Guatemalan pupusas and larger than what you find in a taqueria. They were great! My favorite was the pollo y queso de arroz. I've never had rice in a pupusa and that made it quite hearty. The edges on that one were extra crispy and that was just divine. I am craving another one as I write this! I also tried the queso pupusa, and it was better than what I normally get at a taqueria, very high quality. Those who tried the queso y jalapeno reported back that it was very spicy, but I know they were using the salsa, and that may have been a factor. While there we were getting thirsty and got a couple of Agua Fresca's. I had horchata and I have to say that it was way better than what I typically receive, may be my favorite horchata. Unfortunately, the place was completely packed and quite messy. The main factors in not giving five stars were time and a partially incorrect order. It took quite a while to place our order and despite being told about 15 minutes, it took well over 30 minutes to get it. We had ordered nine, but when we got to the car, there were only seven. I don't ever intend to spend 45 minutes in a pupuseria, but it's downright irritating to wait that long and have two missing from the order. The woman had said the right number back to me, but she wrote down the wrong one I suppose. When I brought it to their attention, they didn't offer to make it right. Instead they were like 'sorry, at least you didn't get charged for it' and I explained to them that money wasn't the issue, I had a house full of hungry people to feed. This was met with a shrug. I ended up leaving without them since they weren't too concerned and I didn't plan on waiting another 30 minutes, but that was disappointing. The other dishes I saw looked really good, but we were on a pupusa mission so that was all we tried. Not sure how they kept track of everyone as service seemed very disorganized. We were there at 10am on a Saturday, so I am not sure if they bring in more staff closer to lunch time or if this is just a normal thing here. $1.99 is pretty average and these are a little bigger, so I would say they are a good value. I thought mine with rice added in was worth the $2.50, so no complaints on price. By the way, if you are taking to go, be aware that the salsa is given in a ziplock bag. Yeah, I said a ziplock bag, it started leaking through on the drive home, so decide if you want to take that gamble. This place has great food and so much potential, but they need to maintain their restaurant, organize their staff to decrease the longer than quoted wait times and take better care of the customer. If those things were improved, there would be no reason not to give them 5 stars! If you are not familiar with the cuisine and don't speak Spanish very well, then I would suggest you check out the pictures of the menu on Yelp before you arrive. Hopefully, you can place your order early in your visit to balance out the long wait. The food is great though, as is the horchata, so worth trying if you have the time to spare! read more

This place has gone down hill.... Is too small and when is full is hot! The staff are always rude I don't know why they always have an attitude never smile just seem mad at life. Today I went and got some pastelitos de carne and they tasted like tortilla stuffed with meat not crunchy at all they were nasty. You got to ask all the time if an item is available that is on their menu because they don't have it all the time even tho is on their menu. This place use to be good but not anymore. read more

It's a hole in the wall kinda place but I absolutely love their food!! Especially when I'm craving that Salvadoran Breakfast!!

Best bang for your buck if you're working around here. $2.15 for one pupils loaded with fillings and then you get a bucket of the pickled veggies. Awesome! Great taste , nice people, definitely would come back to try some other foods read more

Yeah this place was a bit of a let down. I seen all the positive reviews and my wife who is half Salvadoran was all for it. Well the pupusas were ok. The queso con frijoles and plain queso were as I said ok. The mixed one with cheese and chicharrone was the better of the three. The only saving grace from this place was the chicken tamales. Those were pretty good. But to each their own. read more

This place makes the best pupusas!! The curtido/pickled cabbage has a nice little kick of spice and it compliments the pupusas very well. Furthermore, the fried yuca with chicharrón is also pretty tasty. Besides these, I haven't tasted anything else on their menu but because of the awesome pupusas, I'm giving this place 5 stars!

I was craving pupusas and decided to stop in Panaderia, as I pass it all the time. I decided to dine in to get the free chips/salsa (always a nice touch). The chips are nothing to brag about - they were probably from a bag. But to a hungry girl..you just eat them. I placed my order (Bean/Cheese Pupusa, Chicken & Cheese Pupusa w/ plantains, refried beans, and crema. The food came out in a reasonable time. I thought the food was delish. I LOVED the pupusas. They were very flavorful and just did not disappoint. Loved the plantains - perfect amount of ripeness and sweetness. Crema and beans were a nice accompaniment. Will definitely return. read more

We come here very frequently, either for breakfast or dinner and the food is always delicious. I happy to say that the people here have great customer service, food is consistent, the location stays busy, most importantly customers keep coming back for the great food. Price of the food is great for what you are getting. Definitely a must check out if your searching for authentic salvadorean food. My most favorite drink is the sebada and favorite dish is always the combination plate that comes with 2 pupilas, one tamal, plantains and beans with cheese and cream. I always order cheese & lorroco pupusas and corn tamale and share with my son because it's a lot of food. Again it all taste very delicious! read more

Este lugar ERA muy bueno algunos años atrás, ahora es una mier***. Las meseras son bien mal educadas y siempre andan con una cara de cul*. I love their tamales de pollo and pupusas . They're really good. I haven't try any other dish yet but I'm pretty sure they're good too..

As a proud salvadorian i always love to support my local salvi restaurants but every time i come here i always have a bad experience! The first bad one was that i ordered over the phone for pick up and asked for 6 pork and cheese pupusas! 30 minutes later i picked up, checked to make sure they were all there then headed home once i got home and began passing out the food everyone noticed they were bean pupusas barley even cheese so i called and asked what happened and she simply said "oh i forgot to tell you there was only beans and cheese so we just made you that..... wow went back through a fit and got my money back Most recent experience i go again with my boyfriend because we were both craving pupusas and while trying to have a conversation and eat, the cooks and waitresses are in the back fighting calling eachother bad words just yelling across the entire restaurant While there are customers everywhere..... definitely do not recommend eating here, very UNPROFESSIONAL read more

Love Pupusas! I come from New Jersey where almost all the salvadorians are at! I've had the best food up there and I came down to Houston a little skeptical, and well! I was amazed! Great food and friendly staff! Pupusas are cheap and taste amazing! If you're looking for a little snack! Stop on by here! read more

Ordered take out from this place and they got my order wrong, plus food was missing. There's nothing more that irks me than getting home expecting to have everything you ordered and paid for, and something is missing! The pupusas here have a weird after taste. I'm not really sure what it is, but I wasn't a fan of it. I LOVE pupusas and this place just wasn't doing it for me at all. My husband ordered a mojarra (fried whole fish). At first glance, it was the biggest mojarra we've ever gotten from a restaurant. That thing was MASSIVE. Sad part was, it had absolutely no flavor. There was no salt to be found anywhere. I will definitely not give this place a 2nd chance. read more

Don't waste your time and money that place is disgusting, the food is extremely greasy!!

We love their pupusas!!! We order from there pretty often!! And they have cheap prices for their delicious food!!

Bad service. I went and ordered my food. They told me it would be 15/20 minutes. 50 minutes later and i still nothing. I understand sometimes it can takes a while but we did not order that much. We would ask and All they could say was a couple more minutes. People were coming and going and everyone was getting their food before us. At the end we decided to leave and took only the part of the order that was ready (we had ordered the same plate and only one was ready) foods not worth the wait. read more
