Amongst all the cream puffs, my favorites were the honey butter with vanilla filling, the green tea with green tea filling, and the apricot custard cheesebake. The other flavors were okay, they just didn't stand out to me as much and the shells were soft, which I know is probably how Beard Papa's is supposed to make them but I personally would've liked just a little crisp on the outside and maybe a little more buttery flavor but thats just me tho. The fillings weren't too sweet, which I like but I think they could've used just a tiny bit more sweetness because they were kinda borderline bland. As for pricing, I know doordash marks everything up, so I'm not judging them based on the prices I paid through doordash. Looking at Beard Papa's regular prices on yelp, I still think they're a little higher than what I would've expected for cream puffs, but not by a lot or anything. Overall though, I thought they were pretty good, and I'd probably go back, just probably not for every craving.

I was interested in the wine bar with frozen yogurt. Seemed interesting. The interior was well done and felt open and airy. There was more seating toward the rear. The consistency and flavor were excellent. There were a good selection of toppings including a bunch of different fruits. The yogurt was very good. The service was friendly enough but we were there for self serve so I cannot comment. The price felt a bit steep, ~$10 per yogurt. May be inflation or I am out of the froyo game too long. Overall, great frozen yogurt in a cool little place.

On my way back to Modesto, taking the backroads from Dos Rios State Park, I checked the map to see what goodies might be in the vicinity. When Churros Tradicionales popped up in Crows Landing, I knew I had to detour, and I'm SUPER glad that I did. I didn't have to wait in line - only a small family enjoying their treats, and two gentleman waiting for their to-go tray of churros - so I quickly picked the first photo of a menu item that looked delicious. My first time here, I knew I had to just dive in, so I picked the trio of churro flavors (cream, caramel, and strawberry) cut up into shareable sticks, and a scoop of ice cream (strawberry for me)! All that for $12. Believe me, it was worth the 5 minute wait, and could easily be shared depending on your level of sweet tooth! Can't wait to have another excuse to roll through town and stop for more churros :) Check them out.

Now, I suddenly feel those visits may increase exponentially. I've also never stepped in the store, but have only longingly gazed at it from outside, as they were still closed for the New Year. But if there's one thing I can say about it, it's that the fudge is amazing. Unfortunately, I could only try two kinds, but the fact that I plowed through the Tupperware full of the Peppermint fudge seems to tell me I'd probably enjoy other varieties with as much enthusiasm. I've also tried the Gingerbread but the Peppermint won me over. It's incredibly soft with chunks of soft peppermint candy sunk into the chocolate. But unlike other fudge that often feels so dense and so sugary your teeth start to hurt, C.R.'s makes it feel like a light indulgence and fantastic (nightly) dessert--so good that you eat five or six and pretty soon you've managed to eat your way to the bottom of the box. My mom tells me that the fudge's sweetness is matched only by Carol herself who makes the delectable squares. It warms me to know such talent surfaces in a little town, and unlike other shops that may fall by the wayside, C.R. Fudge better stay in business if the people know what's good for them.
