Spend a couple of hours with the locals, just don't get in their way, exploring all the fabulous food the south of Spain has to offer. The Ratatouille in me is always in cheese heaven. SO many varieties of goat, sheep and cows cheese to choose from. I will never get through all of them. The incredible fresh seafood, many still gasping from their very recent plucking from their watery home. Vegetables so unbelievably fresh and beautiful. Spices. They were my main purchase this day. Why bother to fix true Spanish dishes unless you have a great selection of the appropriate spices. Spain, all the devine jamòn. Legs of various aging just waiting to be sliced just for you. Fresh meats that will have your head spinning- I don't know what to cook first. When traveling always check out the local market. Many stalls will offer samples to try. Other have items that can be prepared to travel home with. Some purchases just may not make it out the door they are so delicious. One last tip- go early in the morning 7-8 am for the best selection. And most markets close around 2 pm.

Had a unique sauce to it...lovely! -Grilled fresh asparagus in charcoal and shavings of Manchego cheese with basil oil...the amazing sauce made this the best asparagus I've ever had. -Grilled Turbot loin with orange, seafood and almonds cream..another incredible sauce! It went well with the fish, shrimp, clams and scallops. -Mediterranean Sole grilled in charcoal with black garlic alioli...no special sauce, but still delicious and cooked perfectly.. Wife was happy. -Sopa de chocolate blanco...for dessert, a green fluffy cake resting in warm melted white chocolate...creative and fabulous! -Wine...can't remember exactly, but we got a nice bottle for under €20. I don't remember the exact prices, but according to my credit card statement the entire meal was €72, which is great value considering this was nearly fine dining. Not sure if I'll ever visit Nerja again, but if I do I'm definitely dining here again. The menu says "small" cone, but it seems like a ton of food to me so I always go with the small cone since it's more than enough. The quality of seafood seems good to me, as everything from the shrimp to the calamari to the different types of fish all taste great. And I like how nothing is battered too heavily; the anchovies especially have a nice light batter. My only complaint is that their other dishes were somewhat underwhelming. I definitely do not suggest getting the shrimp salad because it's all potatoes and mayo without any shrimp, not at all worth 5 euros. And I did like the tortillita de camaron because it was a very tasty fritter, but it too lacks shrimp. Not bad though for 1.50 euros.

We visited the restaurant at night for dinner and ordered drinks upon arrival. Our welcome tapa was fried Squid which was a big portion for free, but it wasn't very good a bit too salty and greasy. The drinks (Tinto de verano and beers) were all good and priced reasonably. For the main course we had the seafood paella for two which was excellent. There was no gluten free option for the bread so we ended up skipping on the bread and being sad instead. Overall it was a very authentic experience with excellent Paella and tapas. My friend who Lives nearby noted they are that big. It was a very hearty salad and had lettuce, corn, tuna, tomatoes, carrots, and beets in it. It could have been a meal at lunchtime- especially if that was half. Then we had my favorite dish which is the friend small fish- I forget the name. I got it several times throughout my trip but this place was extra delicious. I loved them!! We ordered fresh fish for our main course. They brought it out to show before cooking it. My friend pointed out the fire pit next to the restaurant where they do the cooking. The fish was amazing. So yummy!!
