We always try to visit food markets like this whenever we travel especially the ones in European cities since they really give you a taste of the place. The food all looked wonderful and are beautifully displayed. We made a pass through here earlier in the morning and then returned later to assemble ingredients for a lunch. It does close at 3pm. Too many tempting choices. We got some olives (of course we are in Spain) that were excellent. Then some cheese that the vendor carefully sliced for us since we were lacking a knife. Some jamon and some bread. Too many choices. In addition there are establishments that served meals. A cool spot especially for foodies.

Whenever I travel, I have to bring home food souvenirs and I knew this place would have cured meats from pigs who fed on acorns (bellota). After walking through the market, I decided on Armando Cuberos which had what I was looking for and was not as frenetic as other places so I could take my time. For my shopping bag, I bought 300-500g of the following: Jamón Iberico, Salchichon Iberico, Chorizo Iberico, and Pecorino with Truffle. The helpful woman knew to vacuum-pack all my stuff for air travel. Fortunately, my hotel room has a mini fridge to keep my charcuterie chilled.

It looks like a market but it's amazingly awesome. They are popular in Spain now I have been told, you can shop for your groceries. From meats, seafood, to vegetables and fruits. Then there are a few places in the Mercado that you can order food to either stand up and eat a a bar or sit outside and order food. The quality is great and was able to try a variety of dishes and order alcohol as well.

A feast for the senses! This indoor market is bursting with the colors and smells of beautiful fresh fruits, veggies, and local specialties like almonds, anchovies, and olives - so many olives! It seems one booth tries to outdo the next with a beautiful presentation of what they offer. We could spend all day here! Walking around gives you a feel for the wonderful people and culture of Málaga. There are also areas where you can order tapas and enjoy wine. The building itself is interesting with its iron work inspired by Les Halles in Paris and its stunning stained glass window. We highly recommend a stop at this market during your stay in Málaga!

Great place to look around with to see what type of food Malaga has to offer. There are different fruits, fish, nuts, tapas, fried food, etc. It was very interesting and got to see lots of fish I haven't seen before. We went to one vendors Bar Mercado Atarazanas. We had to wait about 10 minutes for an outside table. It was well worth it. We ordered a few plates and everything was delicious. I would highly recommend it.

Love this market for the fresh fruit, vegetables and nuts. There is something for everyone here. The prices are very good and the offerings very fresh. The nut sellers always give us samples and we purchase for about 30€, which lasts 2 adults 10 days. Have eaten lunch here and had calamari and grilled sardines. Excellent and fresh as well as inexpensive. Along with a beer and water, this was 14€. The 'restaurant' tents are always full. Would like to try some of the non seafood ones, too. Parking is nearly impossible. We park at the port and walk about a mile to shop at the market. It is very pleasant to do this on a sunny day. Would not recommend the hike on a rainy day. Highly recommended to stock up here.

Fantastic market! Beautiful fruit & vegetables! Great place to buy Malaga almonds (freshly roasted & salted) and dried figs. Prices are reasonable and the vendors very friendly. I wish we had a market like this near my house! Fresh seafood and meats looked amazing too! Definitely a must visit while visiting Malaga!

Awesome seafood.. I had a little of everything from there.. clams , snails , shrimp , sea urchins and so on.. it gets busy there so you might have to stand to eat... beer and vino is cheap..

Love Love Love this place!! Cheap fruit... cheap meat... cheap fish! And all with quality. I've never brought anything home rotten. In fact... I never buy my fruit and vedge from a supermarket. And in Spain... it's a MUST to never buy meat in a supermarket. It's terrible. last week I bought a lifetime supply of steaks for 10 euros. It was a poorer cut of a steak (which I actually prefer), had him cut it thick. Took it home... beat the hell out of it and had soft and delicious steaks for super. I come here twice a week. Once to buy what I need for the week... and again for anything i've forgotten. Which I always forget something. Goal: to learn how to cook fish so I can buy that here too!

I love Spanish markets so much! They're some of my favorite attractions in Spanish communities, and I could honestly spend hours in them. Since there's so much finger food available, you could easily spend an entire afternoon snacking and drinking jovially. Definitely don't miss this market.

Wonderful food, I highly recommend a visit. The display of fruit, vegetables, Serrano Hams, fish, nuts, olives galore. Great atmosphere, friendly vendors, little kiosk were you can eat sea food ever so fresh. Beautiful mouth watering display of every kind. If you like markets don't miss it.

The Mercado was not yet fully open when we walked by en route to the train station. It is a compact space with stalls that sell meat, fruit and vegetables. And we were told there're two restaurants with tables outdoors. We plan to check it out on our way back after our day trips. Unfortunately their opening hours (8am to 3pm) conflicts with our sightseeing schedule.
