Bad to the Bone was incredibly accommodating of our boy's needs and allow you to bring food, toys, etc. that will help your dog feel more at home. I am always a little nervous about leaving my dogs, but I was immediately put at ease when they ran through their questionnaire at drop off. Based on the questions they were asking about my dog's personalities, typical behaviors, routine, etc., I could tell they make sure every dog has as relaxing a stay as possible while away from home. They made sure both my boys were in kennels next to each other, and gave them potty breaks together so they could spend time with one another. They even got a free bath for staying more than 3 nights, and it was so nice to take them home clean! The facility is newly built and is nice, clean, and well cared for. The owners and staff obviously care about the dogs and giving pets a positive experience. My boys even came home with a report card, complete with a picture, with notes about their visit. I'm really glad we have this business in Leavenworth and I'll be a returning customer.

The lady on the phone was nice enough and assured me that my pup would be fine and that they would let her get used to her environment and introduce dogs one at a time until the new pup is comfortable. This is also what is clearly stated on the website, see quote below: "What happens at a Howdy-Do Day? Dogs are introduced slowly to the play area with a few regular day play dogs that we count on for good behavior. Most dogs are nervous at first, unless they are puppies or have been to day play before. We allow them to smell and explore the play area, both inside and out. Once comfortable, we introduce one dog at a time waiting until the new dog is comfortable until the entire pack" I logged into the app to watch the live camera as soon as I got home from dropping her off, no more than 10 minutes later, and she was cowering in the corner of a room filled with at least 8 dogs. I knew my pup would be nervous and take some time to get acclimated to the new environment, but again, I had been assured that she would be introduced slowly and cared for. This already made me nervous, but I tried to let her have some time to get used to it. After about an hour of her sitting in the same spot, being humped and harassed by one dog in particular, and all but ignored by the staff, I decided I wanted to bring her home. It is possible that I was overreacting, which I will own, as I am new to all of this - but I also felt like I had been misled and was just nervous and wanted her home. When I picked her up, I explained that I didn't like that nothing was being done about the humping and that I had been misinformed about how the howdy-do day worked. She said "no, we don't introduce them one at a time, we just like them to be the first ones here on their first day so that the dogs can be brought in as they are dropped off." Again, see the quote from the website, but I just said "Okay, well that isn't what I was told on the phone." The other lady (who I am pretty sure was the owner!) who brought my dog out to me was the main reason I am writing this review. Absolutely unbelievably rude. My mom and I tried to express our concerns and explain why we were picking her up early (at this point we hadn't even ruled out trying again on a different day) and she extremely rudely said "Well, you just don't know anything about this." told me the dog humping her while she cowered in the corner was just "playing," etc. We continued to try to express our concerns and she just said, "You do not know what you're talking about at all, so just take your crazy dog and go." and stormed out of the room. My mom and I were so shocked! I was basically speechless. First of all, MY dog is crazy? For being nervous and literally sitting in one spot the whole time she was there? Okay.... But also, just shocked by how unbelievably unprofessional and immature this lady was! A client can't express a concern without you lashing out and storming off? If she had been able to have a professional conversation with us and help explain some of the stuff that we obviously "don't understand," I probably would have come back, but now I am absolutely horrified by how spiteful and rude this lady was to us!

One of the best parts of this for us was that when we got back from our trip we found progress notes from each visit describing their interaction with Izzy and Ashley along with extra treats for them. I would definitely use Carol's services again. I trust her completely with our dogs and am eternally grateful to have someone available to take care of our dogs while we are away in an environment that is comfortable for them. The place I'd used in the past was completely booked, and I started freaking out...until I called Deb's. Yes she had room for them, and yes, she'd love to have them. I actually spoke with her on the phone for 45 minutes and got a feel for the kind of person I was dealing with; a confident, competent expert who has a passion for animals. I dropped my boys off on the morning we left. I was nervous as all get out bc these two are absolute knuckleheads. They're very quirky dogs & the purebred can be extremely stand-offish. He generally trusts nobody except his family and their closest friends. He's a working dog, and his main job is protecting us, so I didn't know what to expect. Everything went very smoothly during drop off. The facility was nice & clean, staff was more than courteous, and there were quite a few dogs outside in the large play area. The dogs all seemed happy & well cared for. Deb came in and after meeting, she took full control & whisked my boys off. I discussed feeding & meds with the gentleman at the front counter, and off I went. I called to check on my dogs & the phone was answered immediately. Everything was great, they were spending equal amounts of time playing outside & relaxing. No issues. I was quite comfortable after speaking with the staff. They were in good hands. When we returned I was eager to pick up my knuckleheads. I arrived a bit after my scheduled 2pm appointment, but it definitely didn't seem to be an issue. Their things were in the waiting room packed up & ready to go. Then came the ultimate test; I'd be able to tell exactly how things went based on my older boys demeanor. We had a bad experience with another well known local kennel & there was no mistaking that he'd been treated poorly. Also he has always been apprehensive and just "out of it" for 2-3 days after boarding. None of that. Both dogs were happy as could be. They were bright eyed & bushy tailed! Ready to go home for sure, but super content. They were clean, well fed & rested. They even got baths before I picked them up. I don't even know how anyone got warmed up enough to my Heeler in such a short amount of time to actually give him a bath, but kudos!! Short version: Deb's Riverview Kennels is a great choice if you're looking to board your pets. In the past I've completely avoided boarding bc it just never worked out. Now that has changed & I'm thrilled that I have a place to "babysit" my boys. I'll definitely return, and I'll also refer them without hesitation. Due to inadequate security measures (confirmed by a confidential message to us by one of their employees) she got out and went missing on Friday morning. Shockingly, my father was not contacted until late Saturday afternoon and only received a vague text asking if he could talk. When he called back, there was no response. It wasn't until Sunday morning, (over 40 hours later) after he followed up again, that he was told his dog was missing. Even more concerning, the owner flat out lied about when the dog went missing. She claimed it happened on Saturday, but both the Humane Society and the Good Samaritan who found the dog confirmed it was Friday morning. This was not a misunderstanding--it was a clear attempt to mislead our family about the timeline. Thanks to the community, the dog was found and safely returned. However, the lack of timely communication, the negligence that led to her escape, and the dishonesty from the owner made a terrible situation even worse. Based on our experience, we cannot in good conscience recommend this facility to any pet owner.
