This is a GENEROUS 3 stars for this place…read more The husband and wife crew, I presume, is so very sweet but I have some serious beefs with this place. And some may think me that I'm being too lenient with the rating based on my reasons, but when you are faced with limited choices, well.... When I called in advance to ask about them being open on the Sunday of President's Day weekend, they said, "of course. Just call though if you change your mind." I asked how much a day of pet sitting cost and they quoted me $50 over the phone. I told Debbie how old Penguin was and that she was current with all her vaccinations. "See you Sunday." I show up to the place which is a house on Big Bear Boulevard. It has a pet store in the front rooms and the remainder of the place, from what I saw, is dedicated to the roaming of dogs. A chain-link fence surrounds the back yard. I whip out my $50 cash along with a folder of all of Penguin's vaccination docs. Debbie tells me that she doesn't need to see the papers...hmmm. Then she tells me that the fee is $60. Now, as far as the $60 goes, MAYBE I heard wrong over the phone. MAYBE it's more expensive over a holiday weekend. Or maybe I'm a city slicker sucker, but I didn't fight it for the very possibility that I might have heard wrong. Dismissing the need for papers had me a little concerned though. I didn't worry all too much because my girl had all her shots and she is on flea meds. So I took a leap of blind faith hoping that this place wouldn't have rabid dogs running around. Upon my return, the couple told me that my Penguin minded them well and that she played nice with the other dogs. So yes, even though I thought that the couple was very friendly and Penguin seemed to have had a good time, I have to lay out the facts for those who end up considering this establishment for pet care. It's slim pickin' in the Big Bear area, so just make sure to check everything out and to ask your questions. Hopefully, your experience and MAYBE a future one from myself can up these stars. Like I said, a GENEROUS 3 for now.

We called this place for a grooming on our dog on a Saturday (9/11/2010). The appointment was for…read more1:30 pm. However, when we went to the place, it was closed. We waited a while, but still no one showed up. We called to find out if anyone was there, but nobody answered. We left a message, but never heard back. We returned at 3:30 pm, but the place was still closed. It seems to us that this is not exactly the way to run a business, especially if you make an appointment with a new prospective client and do not keep it. However, it appears that some other people do not share this same opinion. We shall never go back to this place and will not recommend their services to anyone else.

Shannon is like…read morethat Veterinarian or car mechanic that once you find, you count yourself lucky to have, and you don't let go of. She is affordable, has 20+ years in the business as a Professional Vet Tech, your dogs trust her immediately, and you genuinely feel you can trust her too. My wife and I have 2 dogs : A 15 year old rescue that requires pills morning and night for her arthritis, and ear drops once a day for a chronic ear issue that must be kept at bay. Our other dog is a diabetic min pin who has gone blind due to the diabetes and occasionally now will sadly have seizers (not just anyone can care for these type of dogs) . Neither dog does well outside my home/yard these days, or with strangers. So boarding was not an option whenever our family needed to leave town I had to bother a close friend to come over daily and work around their schedule, etc. And I didn't trust the neighbor kid to follow through on timely feedings. Then I was introduced to Shannon. She is actually more affordable than a kennel/dr office, comes to my house twice a day walks, feeds, and medicates the dogs and my dogs never have to leave the house (A stress free situation for us all). And I feel safer about her doing this than a friend because she was a trained Vet Tech for years. We actually have Shannon do the ear cleanings and nail trim too. She comes to us, I don't have to load everyone to the Vet! And she charges is about the same as the Vet does! It' a life saver. You'll love her too.
