While hospitalized and rehabbing from a severe illness, a volunteer group was visiting patients with an emotional support dog. I had always told my husband, "No More Dogs." They asked if I wanted to hold him. I resisted, but they persisted. I agreed to let the dog come on my bed and see me. When they placed him on the bed he didn’t hesitate to draw close to me with his warm soft body. I welcomed his affection and stroked his luxurious soft fur. I was smitten by his beauty and his sweetness. The Magic Moment happened when his eyes locked with mine. It was a moment I'll never forget. He not only looked deep into my eyes, he looked deep into my soul. It was as if he was saying he understood what I was going through. I had never had this kind of instant bond with any animal before. I called my husband and said, "OK, we can have a dog, but it has to be a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel." I was forever smitten with the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. I thought, "How many more people could benefit by having this kind of wonderful bundle of joy and sweetness in their life."

Let's consider: Dog food: Overpriced. Today a customer in front of me paid way too much for a bag of Science Diet, which is garbage. Costco's Kirkland brand is higher quality and much cheaper. They even have grain-free varieties at Costco for a very reasonable price. Dog treats: CRAZY overpriced. Cheaper to make my own or make a trip to Trader Joe's. Dog toys: Freakin' expensive. Why pay $16 for a toy my dog is going to tear apart in less than a week? There are some durable toys available (I recommend the Kong treat dispensing toy), but they're few and far between. Well-made toys are definitely worth the money. PetSmart has a clearance section I visit when looking to replenish our toy supply, and I've found some real treasures there. Petsmart is a good place for new pet owners to stock up on supplies while they're becoming oriented to pet ownership. PetSmart has an adequate selection of collars, bowls, poop bags, and kennels. I'd skip the ID tags and find something cuter, cheaper, and better made on Etsy, but PetSmart is capable of supplying these as well. Today I was there to purchase some rubber Chuck-It balls, and my experience was good until I got to the cash register. When the system prompted me to enter my personal information for a Pet Perks card, I told the cashier I would rather not, but he made me anyway. Thanks, buddy. Anyway -- PetSmart has everything you need for your dog, cat, fish, reptile, bird, or rodent, if you're willing to pay for it.

She is a great pyrenees and has a long, double coat. Then she became much more reluctant to enter the area around the groomers. On her last visit I saw one person hauling on her leash and another shoving her from behind to get her in. I was too far away for my voice to be heard, but that was her last visit. No dog should be treated like that. A little time and patience is more likely to work with a reluctant dog, unless what ever had been done behind closed doors was too terrifying for her. My trained service dog could handle almost anything she might encounter, including emergency vehicles, along with firemen in full gear. I do not know what specifically happened to her as it was not done in my presence, with the exception of th haul and drag her in incident. Jeanette H.
