I walked here all the way from the hotel I was staying at - Hotel Clayton. The walk was quite nice, the park is located near some quaint neighborhoods. There are several entrances to the park so it isn't hard to miss. The park goes across streets so you have to cross certain parts of the park in order to fully see the WHOLE PARK. They have a bunch of flower beds that are really pretty as you walk thru the park. There is a little pond area where swans populate - I saw a couple people feeding them but I now know that isn't the best thing. So just FYI; it doesn't help them if you feed them. Even during a weekday - the park had a lot more people than I thought it would. And it was a gloomy day too - but let's face it - it's Ireland, it's gloomy sometime during the day everyday. lol. All in all - a great park!

Still a fan of the all weather courts chiefly because the space is surrounded by fencing so I don't have to run after any stray shots... I'm not the Maradona I once was... Economic with the use of backlands beside the Luas station and between Victorian lanes and 1970s apartment blocks, the park is an elongated pond with some pleasantly leafy spaces at either end. Come in and feed the ducks, the pigeons, even what looked like a water vole when I was in there... Maybe opt to get a take-away from Diep Noodle Bar and feed yourself too. Like any good city park, it manages to feel sufficiently open and enclosed all at once.

You have to pass under a massive stone arch to reach this place, and the result is a "secret…read moregarden" feeling. At first. Deeper, the park opens up a good bit and is overlooked by apartment blocks. So the secret is spoiled. But in return you get a lake sporting swans, ducks, and surprisingly large fish. I'll call it a fair trade. If you can catch a few moments of sunshine, this is a reasonably nice spot to grab some lunch. There are benches set around the water, but people tend to prefer the grass embankments that rise away from the pond. From up high it feels like you are in a stadium where people have gathered to watch to geese settle their differences. So, that's fun.

Located just off Rathmines Road, this park has the very definite feel of being the common garden of the surrounding houses of the square, which is, of course, exactly the purpose of the green spaces in all of Dublin's squares. Don't let that put you off, though; the park has been open to all, residents or otherwise, for over 30 years. There's a children's playground to keep the kids occupied, and tree-sheltered corners to just relax, virtually undisturbed by the traffic.

There are 4 gates around the park, but atm only one of them is being kept open, which is great, I find easier to manage the dogs not getting out of it. In the summer there are yoga classes, it's open to everybody, starts @11am and you only pay €5, this money helps the locals to maintain the park clean and tidy..

St. Kevin's park is rumored, among other things, to be both haunted and cursed. Early references to…read morethe Church here date back as far as the 13th century(I know, but you can check it if you don't believe me), however, it was later abandoned after repeatedly, and mysteriously, burning down. That was in 1820. Things got a bit darker from then on. You see, the name St. Kevin's Park is relatively new. Prior to that, it had been St. Kevin's Cemetery. Worse, as the Great Hunger tightened its grip on our wee Island, St. Kevin's became a famine graveyard. Not just any famine graveyard mind, but a graveyard for those restless souls who either lacked the means to pay for a proper burial or those, even less fortunate, who could not be identified. Which was all fair and good, but a trip to St. Kevin's today and you'll find that it doesn't much look like a graveyard. In a re-development project some years ago the cemetery became the park. The Corpo offered the families of the dead a chance to have the bodies exhumed and moved to another, more permanent, resting place. Fine for some, but many bodies remained unclaimed and lie still in the earth underneath St. Kevin's Park. Their families either wiped out entirely by the Hunger, or forced into exile. The Headstones were removed, but you can see them propped up against the perimeter walls. Still waiting to be claimed. So don't step on the grass..... Mwuh hah hah haaaaaah!

I have started to come here occasionally to eat my lunch…read more I realised today that even though it was probably one of the warmest days of the year, there were very few other people here on their lunch break. I was able to get a seat on a bench... all to myself! There are loads of trees, so their is lots of shade in the summer for the fair skinned. There is a shell of a church and lots of headstones to peruse. You can even do a circuit around it, albeit a short one. A gem of a park, just don't tell anyone about it :)

My two year old son has just discovered this place and he loves it - it is more important than…read morelife, it is more important than lollypops, it is more important than Peppa Pig... I don't mind it myself either though I reckon that it is aimed at slightly older kids. Never the less there is enough for the toddler to keep him going including a sprung see-saw (which will even hold me) a couple of small slides and a reasonable harmless climbing frame (still needs supervision though!). For me the big plus is the fact that the ground is covered with a mix of chippings and very soft tar/sponge/rubber stuff (to use the technical term. he couldn't hurt himself if he tried... well, he could, but he'd have to try really really hard.

He loved it, and so did I!!…read more Nice soft spongy ground, plenty of woodchips, lots of play items and even stuff for the toddlers. Everything was in good repair and it was very clean and well kept. After visitng some other playgrounds in town last week, trust me, this place is gold! Even if you or your child are not wearing head to to Armani, give it a go! (Seriously, there was a (maybe 3 yr old) child there completely kitted out in Armani.. to each their own, but M&S or Penny's probably works better in the dirt! :p)

Unfortunately being in Ireland I have yet to see the park on a sunny day so that is a theory that remains to be put to the test.
