I don't understand how people can give parks less than 5 stars - I mean c'mon - it's a space a city has turned into a chill spot for everyone and anyone. I walked here all the way from the hotel I was staying at - Hotel Clayton. The walk was quite nice, the park is located near some quaint neighborhoods. There are several entrances to the park so it isn't hard to miss. The park goes across streets so you have to cross certain parts of the park in order to fully see the WHOLE PARK. They have a bunch of flower beds that are really pretty as you walk thru the park. There is a little pond area where swans populate - I saw a couple people feeding them but I now know that isn't the best thing. So just FYI; it doesn't help them if you feed them. Even during a weekday - the park had a lot more people than I thought it would. And it was a gloomy day too - but let's face it - it's Ireland, it's gloomy sometime during the day everyday. lol. All in all - a great park! read more

Summer nights require playing ball in the park. Sunday there was some local kids playing a match on one of the pitches, it made me all nostalgic. Still a fan of the all weather courts chiefly because the space is surrounded by fencing so I don't have to run after any stray shots... I'm not the Maradona I once was... I was here recently for the first time in what be must be ten years. My prevailing memory of Herbert Park was one January dropping off a Christmas tree here and they had the most efficient system set-up. One way, drive in, parkup, drop off tree, drive out. The staff were then chipping all the trees for use in the park. We were so surprised at how quick it was and left happy. Back to present day and we were here for a BBQ and Beer festival. That was fine, if a little pricey to get into. But the setting was perfect for an outdoor food and drink event. There were some lovely flower beds still in bloom. An some lovely mature trees. One part of the park had a new tarmac footpath. It's a nice park to visit if you are in the area on a nice day with some spare time. read more

Good little park in Ballsbridge. If you are looking to run laps it has a path around the sports pitches that is perfect for laps. It has a small little pond with ducks and swans. Great place for a picnic with lots of food takeout choices near by read more

I love this park! I have been living nearby but have started going recently for a walk or a run and its amazing. Very quiet and big enough for you not to bump into people if you dont want to. To paraphrase the fresh prince, in this playground was where I spent most of my days, Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool. I grew up near Herbet Park and was only when I back there a few weeks ago did I realise what a great place it is and how much I missed the place. Covering 32 acres its actually two parks, divided by Herbert park road and divides Donnybrook from Ballsbridge. As well a a couple of playgrounds, which are now much safer, I remember many a bone crunching fall in the original cemented one when I was a kid. Its equipped with a range of sports facilities. In the second park is where most of the sporty activities take place with tennis courts,football pitches, boules, & croquet (posh bastards) well we are in Dublin 4 after all. Theres also a great duck pond which is all that remains from the 'Canadian Waterchute' for which the park was originally built in 1907 for the Dublin International Trades Exhibition. Great on a Sunny day to chill out,sunbathe, play football, throw a Frisbee around or just go for a walk. The arches architectural feature in the middle of the first park is especially nice. read more

Gorgeous park to walk in just after it's been raining. This is a lovely park on a lovely side of town, and makes you feel years away from Dublin's city centre (even though in fact you're very very close.) The road that separates the two sides of this park is treelined and fantastic, so even walking along here is like being in the park. It's a great place to pass through on a jogging mission. I love my foodmarkets, and so glad they are just popping up everywhere around Dublin. The only negative thing about a foodmarket is making the tough decision of what to eat as you are spoilt for choice. Every sunday there is a lovely foodmarket here in Herbert Park. Ideal on a sunny day, grab some grub, stroll across the road and lie in the grass. And after a while go back for dessert (try and resist the amazing looking icecream and cakes and donuts!!) I can highly recommend the west African vegan black bean stew, seriously good food! read more

Herbert Park holds great memories for me as it is where my grand dad asked my granny to marry him and I love going back to that spot when ever I can. It is a really clean and well maintained park, that I always feel is a little posh, if a park can be such a thing. It has lovely lawns and totally dreamy flower beds and rose gardens. It has a pavilion, playground and sports fields but for me it really is the garden feel and beauty of the flowers and grass that makes this one of the prettiest parks in Dublin. read more

A big leafy park in the heart of Dublin 4. There is plenty of room to jog, kick a ball, wander or find a quiet corner for a picnic. The very hungry ducks on the pond love being fed bread, and there are fish in there too (but no fishing allowed). If you walk to the far western corner, exit the park, turn left and walk past the playground, you can turn left again onto a little path that runs alongside the river and is a really quiet beautiful piece of Dublin. read more

It' very seldom that I'd be out in the Ballsbridge direction much these days, and it's rarer still that I'd get the opportunity of going to Herbert Park. This is an awful pity, as Herbert Park is one of Dublin's nicer parks. Only a hop and a skip away from the city centre, Herbert Park is unexpectedly spacious, and occupies a special place in my heart, as it is location of the first exterior shoot that we ever did in college. Points of note in the park include the lovely ivy covered walkway along the middle of the park, and also the big long rectangular pond. You can tell from the other reviews that this is a great park, so I won't bother repeating anyone. One of Herbert Parks other claims to fame is that it's the home of ultimate frisbee pick-up games. I can't tell you exactly where in the park these take place because despite repeatedly saying "ye man, I'll see you there" I've never actually made it. Don't ask me to move on a weekend morning, I simply won't do it. It also houses the Winter Leagues, I think, but couldn't be certain for much the same reason. read more

This park was purpose built for the Irish International Exhibition held in 1907. The two features which still remain from this epoch are the bandstand and the pond, which is now lamentably lacking the 'Canadian Water Chute' that must have made Donnybrook Ireland's early answer to Orlando. If you ever see catering's green double-decker bus out front, then there's likely someone filming something in the park. The other reviews on the site have outlined admirably the many activities that the park plays host to, which include fitness boot camps, outdoor yoga and ball sports a-go-go. All I can add to this is that the park is exactly one mile in circumference following the external railings. This makes it an excellent track for runners, and from open to close there'll always be a someone bravely treading a rut into the grassy verge. And finally, there are toilet facilities in the the low building beside the croquet lawn and tennis courts, because nothing ruins a picnic in the park like having to go number two in the bushes. read more

I love having Herbert Park so close to work. If you're having a stressful day it's a great spot to relax. Lots to do here as well. Tennis courts, an oddly specific perimeter for runners (almost exactly one mile), a couple of football pitches. Great place for a picnic too with so many excellent food options just across the road. read more

I fell in love with Herbert Park when I first had to play a lacrosse match in here. Nowadays it's one of my main running tracks and a nice spot for throwing a Rugby ball around. During the summer months you literally can't walk 100m without coming across a boot camp group or a few people playing Tag Rugby or practising their tackling and passing. The only thing I don't like about the park is the fact that it closes pretty early compared to other parks and it's happened to me once or twice that I couldn't in fact get out of the park because the gates had been closed already. herbert park is another good open space in Dublin. You can easily walk here from the city centre, it probably takes only 20 walking. You can head past Landsdowne road on the way here. The area is where the embassies are located, so a nice part of town. read more
