You can't really go wrong with banana bread and peanut butter and fancy looking lattes. This cute cafe reminded me of LA hipster cafes that are there purely for Instagram, but that's okay! They're known for their vegan banana bread and had the option of topping it with peanut butter or a greek yogurt topping. I loved that the bread was toasted, and it was so comforting and sweet to eat with a spoon. The peanut butter isn't the disgusting Skippy consistency, but more like natural, dripping peanut butter that has a stronger flavor. It was a nice bite. I got the blue majik latte and thought it just tasted like a sweet latte that looked pretty. Kind of pricey too. read more

So updated review after eating brunch here today (4 Feb) with a friend: Yes the pink background and palm frond wallpaper (and palm from baskets hanging from the ceiling) is still cute as ever and the desserts were again lovely. The waitress was also very cheerful this Sunday AM. The food menu is slightly changed from when I swung by six months ago. I got the Palm Buddha Bowel, which has an incredibly tasty blend of tabbouleh, roasted veggies, beetroot hummus, baba ganoush, massaged kale with seeds, pickled candy radishes (absolutely delicious) and thick sweet potato falafels bursting with flavour (the waitress kindly had the cucumber removed from the dish as I requested). It's a hefty bowl and I finished it feeling satisfied; I ended up being full the whole afternoon! I also got the Green Goddess juice (sans cucumber) and I liked how large and frothy it was. Sadly my friend didn't seem to like her Persian porridge and admittingly it looked pretty gluey and unpleasant. I got one of the vegan cookies and a coconut, chocolate and passion fruit macaroon for takeaway. The cookie was both sweet and salty but a bit too sugary for my taste. It was thin and lightly crispy with a decent amount of chocolate chunks. The macaron was very light and crumbly with a smattering of that coco/chocolate/passion fruit ingredient inside. read more

I was just walking past in need of a restorative cup of tea + slice of cake, hence completely unaware of the vegetarian/vegan nature of the establishment. I got there late in the afternoon and there were tables to spare; I've read that they can get quite busy, though. The cakes looked lovely and I ordered some english breakfast to go with it. My chai sponge was tasty (and a good sized slice; I *hate* when people are mean with cake) and the staff smiling and polite. The tea, though, was delivered with vegan milk, and at that point I realized I was in Hackney and perhaps that was the norm. Perhaps I could have called the waitress and asked for regular milk instead, but nowadays you never know if you're going to cause offense - what if the café were 100% vegan? Would I be taken to the back and shot for daring to mention the unmentionable? Lol, just kidding. Anyway, drank the vegetable milk and - surprise! - it didn't kill me, but just as a note to potential customers: if you don't want milk from a cow make sure to ask when you order. Seeing that they have haloumi on the menu I think you will be allowed to walk out alive. ;) read more

Palm Vaults certainly has a quirky charm that wasn't quite as posh as I expected given all the insta-worthy photos, of which I took none. It was a bit too pink / Miami-esque for me but it was definitely unique. There are loads of sweets to choose from if you want something to eat. I came for the drinks as they have one of the most unique menus around. Lattes, smoothies and things that don't sound right together but somehow they work. In that category I chose the lavender iced latte. They use a lavender syrup mixed with a normal latte on ice, so it's fragrant and not overly sweet. The waitress advised me to mix the syrup sitting at the bottom well so it blended in the drink. There were also tiny lavender seeds at the top which I was afraid might ruin the drink if I ate any but I might have and didn't notice. I was expecting it to be purple but the syrup is clear so it would be better if they could add some colour. It's a small cafe so either prepare to wait on the weekend or get take away. I came late in the afternoon so there were not many tables full. I would probably come again as there are other interesting drinks to try but perhaps only if I am in the area. read more

Such a fun place you get the whole Miami Beach in the 80s vibe. Tunes they play here are banging! All 80s/90s classics! Their t shirts have a great design of the palm vaults logo. I believe the short sleeve is like £25. They change up their cakes regularly and they always have a vegan one. Really nice cafe to chill and talk to friends. They offer a great selection of drinks so check it out if you love trying out new/crazy flavours of coffee or drinks. I ordered the rose latte and my sister got a red velvet latte. This was a nice cafe to hang out and have a chat with friends. We went just past 10 so the tables were still free, but by the time we left there was quite a long queue for tables. The girls working there were really lovely and sweet! The food and drinks did take a while to arrive, I think because their team is quite small and they make effort with the food/drink presentation. The seasoning on the avocado was really nice and so was the smoothie bowl we got. Overall a cute place, I would definitely go again but make sure to arrive early! read more

I have to admit, I was following Palm Vaults on Instagram long before I set foot in the cafe. Their food and lattes are very photogenic--and this is also a vegetarian cafe with many vegan options. While staying at the Kip Hotel nearby I popped in most mornings to catch up on freelance work. In the time I was there I tried: a pink matcha latte, a blue latte (made with coconut milk and lavender), an unleash the dragon smoothie bowl with granola, banana bread with vegan almond caramel and cocoa nibs, a green goddess juice avocado toast, a vegan cookie and the new toffee apple latte made with Oatley (free!) Damn, that's a lot of food! Positives: Beautiful interior (pink, plants, retro chairs), beautiful and quite tasty food and drink, decent wifi, lots of vegan options including cake, close to Hackney Central Station. Negatives: They run out of stuff a lot, inconsistent pricing (£3.50 for a latte--okay--but £8 for avocado toast without any toppings?), staff are nice but some do come and ask those using a laptop (politely) if you can leave when it gets busy. I would be okay with this, but I actually spent a lot of money there and kept topping up with coffee etc. I'm not sure I'd get the smoothie bowls or avocado toast again--beautiful but not worth the price tag. Came on a saturday morning, around brunch time, when we already had brunch. We wanted cake & a midnight latte. And they welcomed us so nicely, had the best table, and most attentive service. Very girly place, but so cute! Ps: a kid heard & loved one of the song that was playing, stood up & started to show his skills to all the customers in the place. after drooling over their lust-worthy Instagram feed for ages, I jumped at the opportunity to go to Palm Vaults during my quick vacation to London last week. let me tell you: it's worth the hype. the lattes are incredible, the avocado toast and smoothie bowls are to die for, and the CAKES. oh lord, the cakes. my boyfriend and I were practically fighting one another for just ONE more bit of one another's. I got the buttercream sponge, which was a lovely Victoria sponge flavored with rose and my boyfriend got the vegan rhubarb cake. both were divine. I wanted to try the tonics, but we literally didn't have any space left! the place was packed and friendly, and there were tons of people either chit-chatting or working on their laptops. very young vibe. the bathroom is definitely worth a peek as well! I'm just a sucker for pink decor. there was a minor snag in service where I had ordered the smoothie bowl and the server heard just the smoothie part. once they were brought over, I clarified which one I actually ordered and one of the other (off-duty) servers rectified the issue, free of charge. very gracious. we also had the privilege of going to the Carnaby Street Diesel store pop-up before going to the original cafe and that experience was also amazing. server Felicia and the bartender were so kind and attentive, and she even came over to chat with us about all the PV wishes to expand internationally (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COME TO NYC!). anxiously waiting for their new merchandise to drop online! if you are a die-hard fan of millennial pink and vegan food and coffee and plants, please visit this lovely cafe in Hackney. it was worth the long tube trip! read more
