Staying as guests at Hotel Talisman, which we otherwise loved and thought was excellent value, we were disappointed in the service at the attached Palm Terrace Cafe in that staff did not clear dirty tables during breakfast (included in the room rate) or appear to want to attend to customers (either hotel guests or from outside) on the terrace. Also, although fresh waffles were available at breakfast, it was difficult to find a server to prepare them during our five day stay (required, no self service permitted). At lunch, we ordered breaded fried squid - ordinary, although not tough, but with an excellent fresh tomato dipping sauce. The young woman serving at the Palm Terrace that afternoon did a good job chasing him off. read more
