I've always been a fan of Chinese cuisine, and comparing the many Chinese restaurants I've visited,…read moreI always arrive at the same conclusion: Himmelspagode is my very favorite!!! The beautiful structure is quite imposing, visible from a distance. I have learned that Himmelspagode is the second largest pagoda outside of Mainland China. The food is simply unmatched, everything is served to please the eye as well as the palate. It's simply delicious to the last morsel. I was introduced to Himmelpagode by friends who live in town, and I remember how warmly they were greeted by the owner himself. I later learned that my friends are regular guests and therefore are treated with extra care. The warmth and kindness of everyone there was exceptional, I will never forget it! Since my first visit I've dined at Himmelspagode again, and can't wait for my next opportunity. The menu is elaborate and prices very reasonable. I can't praise this restaurant enough, because it really is my favorite place to dine. I'm a resident of the USA, and have always been of the opinion that ethnic cuisine is much better in Germany than here in America. Not sure if it's all about the ingredients or why restaurants in Germany serve better food. I wish I could give an extra star simply because I've never had a more pleasant dining experience.5 stars SOLID from this reviewer!

While nicely presented, I get the impression they don't use high quality ingredients and a lot of MSG. At least that's what my tummy told me after the visit. My Kung Pao Chicken (16 Euro, huge portion) was alright but lacked flavor a bit. We also tried their Dumplings (6 Euro for 4 pieces) and were satisfied with texture and fillings. The menu hosts mostly common Chinese dishes but you also find Thai soups (Tom Kha Gai) and a tailored Kids menu (Chicken Wings). A la carte prices are quite expensive (12 to 16 Euro for main dishes). Their lunch buffet offering is quite compelling though - for 15 Euro you get soups, starters, entrees, drinks, and deserts. Certainly not a bad deal.
