This location is right by the Kroger on HRR. I went in during lunchtime, which was bad timing on my part because they were busy, but I was able to purchase a package and tan within a reasonable time frame. The associate was very helpful and able to answer questions. I went a 2nd time and can honestly say this is very well run, and organized. It is clean and practices social distancing. With each visit you get goggles and a towel. There are reminder notices on the inside doors to put your mask on before leaving the booth after tanning. I love PBT but not this location. I've been going well over a year now and have always brought my own lotion due to their reported high-pressure sales tactics on lotions. I appreciate it when they ask if I am interested, but no means no. Today I was told I could not use the lotion I bought on Amazon, despite it being specifially designed for tanning beds. Instead, if I wanted to use their facilities, I had to buy their lotion because "mine might cause damage". She didn't even bother to read the label on my bottle. And again, despite having used this same lotion for over a year at multiple locations. I just want a tan, not a hassle. Life is too short to use this facility. Avoid this location at all costs. I've been a PBT member for over 5 years & I've always preferred Hilliard over any other PBT salon. But that has drastically changed recently. I'm used to the excellent standards that they've had for years in their entire staff's character, honesty, tanning knowledge, and the salon's cleanliness. I believe the staff or employee training has recently changed because the entire salon's cleanliness and dynamic has too. I can no longer walk into PBT & see the typical smiling faces & outstanding service, or just relax in a "clean" bed. My relaxing tanning sessions have been ruined by their negative attitudes, snarky comments, and completely unhygienic beds. We are living in a pandemic and the tanning beds/rooms are almost ALWAYS covered in lotion and/or sweat from previous customers!! I am very disappointed in what the Hilliard PBT salon has become. Hope they can resolve this issue but until then, I HIGHLY recommend you spend your $ and time elsewhere. read more

A bit out of the way, in a strip mall off by itself (home to the awesome Olive Tree.) Good service, clean beds. The stand-up I used was pretty small, so don't go in if you're claustrophobic. Palm Beach pricing plans are a little expensive, but they're the biggest game in town, and if you go a lot it is worth it. For occasional users like me it is hardly worth it. read more

I've been going to this place for the past 3 years. I only go for 2 months at the end of the winter to get rid of my pasty white skin and to clear up my eczema before spring so I'm not a super regular customer, but still a customer who has been coming back. They have nice beds and I always get a nice summer glow. I will start by saying that I don't like their membership program at all because it does not benefit me as someone who doesn't tan all year round. It actually hurts me. Being a customer that continually comes back each year, I feel like I should have some kind of perk, even though I don't continue the membership all year round. They just care way more about getting new clients than taking care of the ones who come back every year. Because I only go there 2 months out of the year, it's pointless for me to pay their $7 a month dormant fee. Granted, they give that money back to you as a store credit when you come back, BUT you can only use it for tanning for the first month and then you have to use it for upgrades or products. Their products are WAY overpriced, like most salons, so I would rather get my lotions elsewhere. So they make me pay a $20 start up fee every year when I start back, which I was okay with since I don't really want to pay $7 a month for 10 months and rack up money that they won't even let me use towards a tanning package. Last year someone didn't do a good job cleaning a bed before I went in, and the person before me had used a lotion with a "tingler" in it. I have an allergic reaction to any of those lotions and I get REALLY red and bumpy. I started to get REALLY hot in the middle of my 10 minute session, so hot that I got out before it was done. I looked in the mirror and my back was on fire. It was red and bumpy. I was not happy. I went out to the front desk to tell them and they just looked at me. I showed them my back and they both got really nervous. The one girl was kinda panicked so she opened up a bottle of their expensive aloe lotion and put it all over my back for me. She apologized for someone not cleaning the bed better. I had already paid for a month, so I kept going back, I just cleaned the bed myself before I tanned (which is stupid to have to do). In any case, that was close to the end of my two months so I canceled as usual after that. So I go back this year to start up. I was all set to just suck it up and pay the $20 start up fee AGAIN, and then the girl asks me what kind of lotion I have to use. I showed her. It's Australian Gold Black just like they sell in the store, but I get it online at Amazon for 1/3 the cost. She asks me where I got it, so I told her. She proceeds to then tell me that I can't use that lotion in the beds anymore. Even though I had been using it there for 3 years with no issues. They tried to pull some crap about how it's not good for the beds. Yeah, it's the SAME stuff they sell. So I was officially done. They aren't friendly, they don't pay attention and clean the beds well and they change the rules every time I go just so people have to spend more money. It's a rip off. Find another salon! read more

UPDATE: Ignore all that I said below, this place has tanked. Kim the manager and her disciple/asst mgr are Mean Girls part 2, I sat and listened to them making fun of customers that had just left while waiting for my bed. They have gone beyond hard sell on the tanning lotion. Now they're bullying. "Are you still using that lotion you bought over ) months ago?" "You have to buy new lotion that lotion is expired." "When it's expired it could damage the plexiglass in our beds, so I don't know if you can use it." And other such blatant condescending crap. Three bad surveys and no response even though I requested one. Twitter response asked me to DM my information and someone would "get with me ASAP." Ya, still waiting. Don't pay $100/Mo to get abused and bullied into buying $90 lotion. The facilities are very nice and clean, and they have an open P90 bed which for someone with claustrophobic tendencies is great. However I will agree with the other reviews that the staff seems to be forced to push the incredibly (4-5x) overpriced tanning lotion too hard. That's pretty much true at every salon but here it seems worse. They're definitely on the higher price of costs, but I find the facilities to be higher level to match. Beds are all in good repair and bulbs are changed frequently. The place is very clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming overall, I don't rate places badly for one staff member having a grumpy day (we are all human). Please stop forcing them to upsell so aggressively though, it's uncomfortable for them and us. Thanks! (Many Year member) read more

I have gone to PBT for years. I was always greeted and treated with kindness. I usually suspend my tanning for a few months each year. This year when I asked to suspend my tanning I was given nothing but grief! I no longer have a membership here and will not go back. Customer service can ruin a long standing account! read more

Went in to get a mystic. The salon was very busy. Bri waited on me. I was told there were two people in the beds and would be mystic tanning afterwards and because I was so big, they said I'd have to wait for them to tan because of my weight, she didn't know if there would be enough solution for the others to tan. I had a lady walk out behind me as I was in tears. Discrimination 100%. I will be contacting a lawyer. read more

I recently went in here because my mom had bought me a gift certificate for Christmas. I actually tan somewhere else, and absolutely love it. Needless to say, I took my gift card in to Palm Beach and specifically told them that I had $30 on the gift card to spend on lotion. I know tanning lotion can be pricey, so I told them I'd like a small bottle of face lotion or a bottle of plain moisturizer. So, of course, the two people working teamed up on trying to sell me the membership (which they mentioned 3 or 4 times). Then, they tried to sell me a $90 bottle of sunless lotion (not what I wanted, which I made clear). Then, they tried to sell me a $120 bottle of lotion! I ended up being there for 45 minutes trying to reason with them, although I only got about 2 words in. I've heard all of the Palm Beach facilities are like this. They are trained to sell, not to care about building a real relationship with the customer. I'm glad I spent my gift card in one visit, because if I hadn't, I would have given the rest away to someone. read more

Tanning equipment is good, but staff (though possibly well-intentioned) constantly try to up-sell you on pretty much everything at every single visit. The kicker, though, is that they seem to care much more about getting new clients than taking care of existing ones. I was in there on a recent Sunday evening, and the woman made me plus two other people stand around waiting for about 10 minutes ... while she chatted up a new prospect and then had the nerve to take her on a tour of the whole facility. Fine. Except she was the ONLY ONE there. Come on! When it takes about 30 seconds to schedule someone into a tanning room, why make your existing customers wait while you deal with someone who might not even pay! Lame customer service. This place has really nice beds, one stand up, and a few with misting, music etc. all the bells and whistles and good prices. There is usually a small wait time. They have a nice selection of lotions that if you watch you can find a good deal. The staff isn't very friendly but overall I was happy with my package last summer. I have my own bed now but I will still pop in for spray tans. read more

I'd give this location 5 stars if the lower-level beds were a little stronger. I went tanning for the first time in months, and chose to do about half the time because I assumed I'd get burned pretty easily, but I felt nothing afterward, and so continued to go a few more times for the full time and still never felt any tanner. I bought one of their lotions and also did the spray tan, which was a great, easy experience, but ended up buying an upgrade on special to the next level and have gone a few times, and really started seeing a difference. I hate to think that they purposely make the first level beds less strong in order to force more upgrades, but I do have a great experience each time I go and the staff is very friendly so overall I enjoy it! read more

Beds are amazing.. Staff is very friendly & Extremely clean inside. Only down fall is that its a bit pricey to tan, one tan is $37.00. Your 100% better off getting an unlimited package. I always tan well, however here I have seen results (Huge results) in just 3 tans. (Great beds) Keep in mind that they will continue to take out of your account unless you ask them to stop and you must do it 5 days before the first of every month. Just a heads up but I do say try Palm Beach at least one time if your big on tanning..;) Also when I signed up I found this place on Yelp and showed them the 4 free tanning for showing them it on the Yelp page and still have not got this. Friendly Staff. CLEAN beds and well cared for facility. Latest in bed technology, including many levels, standard, upgraded, spray tanning and more. Great location on Rome Hilliard, ease of convenience for parking. Never a long wait, no appointments necessary. Prices are competitive, packages and individual session pricing- not high priced- as noted from years before in other reviews; prices are often better than others in Hilliard! I have been a member since 2011, and have tanned at many other salons in the area through the years, and love that they keep your information on hand for ease of scheduling when you return- if you haven't tanned for awhile! Hands down highly recommend Palm Beach Tan in Hilliard! read more
