few months ago I deployed. I went to cancel my membership and was convinced to "freeze" my membership for $7 per month. My card was hacked and I called PBT at University to update. They said they could not card info on the phone. I called again a month later to explain I was not "there" and that I needed to update and again, they said they could not. I decided to let it sit and, as advised, I thought I would just update and continue my membership as the money paid in would cover most of my monthly membership. When I arrived there today (2-16) the lady who took my $60 failed to tell me prior that my membership and terminated. She then told me that after 3 declines from a card results in that. So I asked why I was made to suffer when this was a company decision and not my fault. I told them that this was taking money on false pretenses. I advised that I would visit my SECU and have them take the money back. My decision now is to leave that charge on to remind me not to use them again. So based on the decisions of "corporate" I paid $60 for nothing! That will never happen again. David N read more

Small and quiet location, but conveniently located close to home and UNC for me! Beds are always CLEAN!! Like streak-free clean with fresh folded towels... I will say its bizarre they dont provide goggles for you, but who knows? Different franchise owners may have different rules for their locations.. my store will provide goggles (but Ive also purchased my own goggles to keep in my bag just incase I come across that they are not provided). I dont remember her name, but the manager (blonde and if I remember correctly, name starts with an 'S'?) is AMAZING! She is so kind, and excited to go over bed options for me based on what questions I have! Im a cross market tanner (CMT - my membership is from CA, and so they have a different way in their system to check you in than a membership from a local store), and she remembered my code! Its truly the little things that make the biggest difference! I am still on the hunt to find a PBT with the Sunboard XTT around Charlotte (my location in Mission Viejo had one - its my absolute FAVORITE bed), but in the meantime, will of COURSE continue to come back to this location! read more

Today I got my first ever spray tan and I LOVE It!!! Payton took SUCH GREAT care of me and made my experience at palm beach amazing!

With a weekend at the lake quickly approaching and my legs still white enough to scare a ghost, I dived through the doors of Palm Beach Tan and hoped for a miracle. My only other spray tanning experience was years ago and involved a woman armed with a bottle and good intentions as she prepared to spray areas that had never seen the sun- Way to close for comfort. Thankfully, spray tanning has come a long way since then. There are four shades to choose from, and various add-on accessories, such as bronzer. The girl at the front desk was extremely patient and informative as I asked her at least 15 different questions on how to avoid looking orange or dirty afterward. You have the option of getting a 2-turn stall or a 4-turn. Definitely opt for the 4-turn, as it's the same price and sprays your sides. Much like tanning, I felt it to be a very relaxing experience, with the machine telling you exactly what to do and mist moving up and down your body repetitively. I'll have to admit, the results are pretty amazing! My arms, legs and chest ended up the perfect shade of brown. I would've worked at least two weeks to get that shade naturally. The only drawback is my hands and feet looked dirty for the first 24 hours. I think a pro would know how to help that situation, but my advice is to take your spray tanning debut two days prior to the event you're planning for. After five days, I still look sun-kissed! A great experience and kudos the staff for taking so much time with a novice. read more

This company has stolen from me and they are doing nothing to rectify the situation! I joined in March. I was paying $65 per month. I went into the store the first week of June to tan. As I was checking in, I told the young lady behind the counter that I wanted to cancel my membership. She asked if I wanted to cancel it or just freeze it. I said cancel. She said "No problem. I'll take care of it. Bed 14 is ready for you". That was the end of the conversation. I have an account specifically set up for auto renewals. July rolls around, there was no money in the account. Never gave it a second thought. August rolls around. I put in money for my YMCA membership. This company took $65! It took two days to finally talk to the general manager, Kara. She said there was nothing she could do. She said I had a balance due from July. So she canceled the balance and said I could have a free month. But she wouldn't give me back my money! They money they had absolutely no right to take! I sent two emails to their customer care center. I heard NOTHING! I called and left a message for the NC customer care. No return call. I just called again and actually got someone. He said I will have to talk to a district manager. However, he warned me that the chances of me getting my money back were very slim. When I joined, they emailed a membership form. Evidently, in amongst the hundreds of insignificant things, it says I was to cancel in writing. WHY DIDN'T THEIR EMPLOYEE TELL ME THAT!?!?!?! I could have done it right then, right there. Their employee made a mistake and it cost me! That is NOT how you run a business. I will never set foot in this establishment again. I will tell everyone that I speak to to stay far away! I am being punished because they didn't train this young lady properly! Awful awful business model. read more

i've been going to a different PBT location for years. i recently started going to this location because it's closer but it's always a hit or miss. last time i was there i could tell the girl working really just wanted me to leave so she could go back on her phone. when i came in for a spray tan she pulled up my info and asked what color i wanted. normally the girls working always ask if i wanted to add any bronzer, primer, or other additives. she ran my card and started walking back to the room before i could ask for anything else. when i caught up to her i asked if i could at least buy some sticky shoes because she didn't offer anything else. she told me it was an additional charge and i told her i'd be happy to pay it i just wasn't asked if i needed any. when we went back up to buy them i asked if there's any way she could add on the additives because she also didn't ask if i wanted any of those either. she said no because she already put it into the system and the only way i could get those was if i bought another spray tan. i asked if there was anything she could do because i knew i wasn't going to like the spray tan on its own and i didn't want to throw $30 away. she said no there's nothing that can be done so i just got the regular spray. i probably should have said something before she ran my card but normally the girls always ask if i want anything else. i mean my sister used to work at PBT and she said that they're always supposed to ask to try to sell more. but it was very obvious the girl just wanted to go back on her phone because that's exactly what she was doing when i left while laying on the couches in the waiting room, i didn't get any kind of apology about the misunderstanding or anything. idk the experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The minute I walked in, I was greeted by courtney. I automatically felt welcomed. I've never been to a tanning salon so she walked me through all the steps. She was amazing with customer service. She made me feel so welcomed from the begining till the end. She gave me tips on how to keep my spray tan on longer and walked me through all the steps. One star because the staff was great and you could tell they cared. However, I did the same spray tan package I've done a good amount of times in the past, and was significantly lighter than the previous times. It was a barely noticeable difference before and after the spray tan. And now less than a week later, what little tan was there is completely gone. In the past I was nice and dark for well over a week. Definitely did not get my money's worth. It seems like their quality has gone down, so why pay $50 for a barely noticeable spray tan when you can buy some nice self tanner from Ulta. read more

Went a few times just to get a base tan. They will try to sell you a lotion that will require a second mortgage, but if you can find one within a more reasonable budget you'll still end up with a pretty amazing tan. All the employees were really nice. If you happen to go at peak times, don't be surprised if you have to wait a few minutes. read more

I just moved to the Charlotte area and what attracted me was the hours since they are usually open till 11:00pm and open 7 days a week...I've been a member for a little over a month & have been going about 4 or 5 days a week. They've always been super friendly & I've never had to wait for a tanning bed. Yes they do try to sell you lotions, but they're far from pushy about it. read more

I went to Palm Beach Tan and purchased a buy one get one free spray tan that the representative behind the counter told me about. I was pleased with the first tan and decided to wait awhile for the next tan since I was never told an expiration date and assumed it was good throughout the summer. I went back later to discover that the free tan expired after 30 days and that I would have to purchase another one. The girl behind the desk told me I was the 2nd person that day to be disappointed for not being told about an expiration date. I am very upset and disappointed that Palm Beach did not honor my free spray tan. I am going out of town this weekend on vacation and wanted a tan. I have a very tight schedule and I cancelled all my plans for the night and travelled pretty far to get to Palm Beach in hopes of getting the spray tan. Now, I will not have a spray tan and will look ghost white in my swim suit all weekend because I didn't have the money to spend to buy another one. I was really looking forward to this all week and now I never want to go back to Palm Beach again. read more

This location is terrible. They signed me up for a 1 time a month spray tanning package. It was only supposed to be $20 well I started getting charged $42/month as well as every time I went in to spray I was paying anywhere from $17-$32 additional! The wait times were ridiculous I could be getting hints set up and people would be walking in behind me to tan and the girl would stop with me and help them. I can understand as it doesn't take as long to get them into a bed as it does to get everything together for me to spray but when keeping me waiting over 20 minutes is just a bad customer service move. I finally moved out of that area and went to a different palm beach tan and when questioning the price I had been paying they looked and told me I had been set up for unlimited sprays and that the price ranged because of different colors and discounts employees were giving me. NONE of this had ever been told to me. I decided to stay and give the new location a chance since they didn't speak very highly of the university city location and they had the new Mystic machine That experience was horrible, I have never had a spray tan run and look so blotchy as I got out I had to rub it all in to make sure I didn't look horrible! Needless to say I can't continue to give this company $42 a month and then whatever else I have to pay on top of that each time I go in to be treated the way I have or look the way I do coming out! read more

I am not from the Charlotte area but I just recently moved here for school. I used the PBT in Winston for spray tanning and purchasing tanning lotions and loved it. I absolutely LOVE PBT in Charlotte. The girls are so sweet and informative about everything. There is never a wait when I go in, I always get the bed I want. The price is great for a student for what you get (beds are high quality, MP3 Players in most, if not all, of the higher levels, shoulder and side tanners, mists, complete control of the machine, etc.) a little pricey for regulars but it's definitely worth it. I trust everything about PBT as I've seen them change out towels and goggles in the rooms and I've also watched them clean the beds myself. Couldn't ask for more here!! read more

Ok. Staff was very friendly and tan looked great.....for 24 hours. I have had mystic spray tans before and they usually last a week or two. I even paid extra for the little bottles they sell that are supposed to lengthen the life of the tan. Very disappointed. Spent $100 for 3 tans. Have used 2 of the 3 and each time they lasted approximately 24 hours. read more

PBT is okay. Best to go at non peak times. Annoying how they ask every single time "how are you on your tanning lotion" even if I had just bought a new bottle the time before. The company started charging 7.50 per month for being on freeze up from $5 without notification. - Unfair but cant beat the convienence of being able to go to any PBT. Came in this evening at 1030 to get a spray tan. I was told that there was a girl in front of me which was fine, but I was also told that the girl working with the glasses and brown hair was going in front of me too. I'm sorry but I think that's very unprofessional for an employee to go in front of a paying customer. I have a package here and come at least once a week and never have an issue. The staff is always amazing, except these two ladies working. The other girl asked me if I still wanted to spray because they close at 11. So your telling me that I might not have a chance to tan because an employee wants to go in front of the customers. Totally turned off. Need to speak to these ladies about customer service. read more

Horrible customer service!! When I signed up the salon manager said my card wasn't working so she kept swiping it. Turns out there was nothing wrong with my card and I was changed 3 times for the first month. They refused to give my money back and told me they'd continue to charge me my monthly membership fee and give me a free upgrade for 3 months....it isn't free if I just paid for it. Then when I decided to cancel they charged me for an additional month and then froze my account rather than closing it charging me $7.50 every month for three more months after, again refusing to refund my money! Instead they told me I could come in and use it on lotion. I canceled my membership 3 months ago, what do I need tanning lotion for? Stay away from these shady characters unless you like having your money stolen. Staff was also really unhelpful. Whenever I came in I'd usually have to stand there waiting at least 10-15 minutes before anyone would come to the front desk. read more
