I wanted a place where my kids can learn the martial arts and to help build up their character. I couldn't ask for more in a program! The instructors truly care about my kids learning and them getting the most out of each class. I appreciate the clean facility and how much they treat us like family! This place has impacted our family and I wouldn't recommend another place.

I've been to every BJJ gym in Pleasanton and truly this place is a gem! If you're looking for a…read moreplace that has passion and also big focus on technique and learning this is the best gym in the area. Russ is an instructor who really cares a lot about teaching. He pays attention to all the students and gives a lot of corrections which I really appreciate. The members there are also all so friendly and love learning. You'll meet a lot of cool people there! Also want to say that Russ puts a lot of thought into the curriculum. He sends out a monthly newsletter and tells you what the focus will be each week. He plans out a series of moves in different positions on the mat from standing to submissions so that you can get the most out of rolling. At other gyms you can sometimes feel like you are coming in and doing a random move and can't connect the things you're learning into your BJJ game during rolling. But his curriculum and teaching method allows you to apply the moves. Besides the curriculum, within each class he reviews the previous moves we've done throughout the week lets us drill it then there's dedicated practice time for the move of the day. This learning method is super helpful because there is constant review. It's easy to forget moves when you're doing random moves only every couple of weeks at other gyms Rolling at Ground Rules is also the most fun out of all the other gyms. We often start from standing which a lot of BJJ gyms don't focus on but it allows you to practice takedowns before going to the mat. The white belts here are completely diff from other white belts are other gyms you can tell that they are learning fast and are able to roll effectively with the technique they've learned due to the curriculum and series of moves that he teaches. Memberships are flexible month to month and they don't lock you into a 1 year membership. Maybe I'm just traumatized from another gym lol but I really think that a passionate and a people oriented instructor is the person you want to learn from.

Coach Russ explains the moves in a way that's easy to understand, and he has a wealth of knowledge. Everyone who trains there is friendly and willing to help each other grow as martial artists. Plus, the facility is clean and well maintained. There are classes for all ages and experience levels, and I would encourage everyone to try it out!

Seeing his long-term dedication speaks volumes about the quality of instruction and culture here. Master Nila is exceptionally skilled, patient, and truly cares about the students. The instructors know exactly how to instill discipline, focus, and confidence in kids at just the right stage in their development, helping them grow both on and off the mat. We love the environment so much that my daughter recently joined as well. Both of my kids look forward to every single class and are having a fantastic time learning together. Master Sunny is unbelievably good at balancing being silly and friendly and encouraging discipline. The kids clearly look up to her. Master Nile is incredibly witty and innately inspiring for the kids to gain skills like his. Overall, I think this physical education only becomes more and more important as my child grows. It is also great to see the older kids that earned their black belt, and still hold the passion to give back to the Taekwondo community. I see them assist the masters in classes and tests. Kudos!

I was looking for a cross training activity to help me improve my balance, flexibility, and strength, especially in my core. These classes check all of those boxes! That said, I have been delighted to find such a welcoming place full of capable, friendly, and patient instructors who are willing to help me learn and improve my form. The Pleasanton studio is clean and well organized and it is easy to schedule or change classes through their app. But really, the people who teach the classes, and those who attend them, make a difference with their positivity and encouragement. A bonus benefit (for me at least) is the mental workout I get too. I need to focus and concentrate during the workouts; both on getting my form correct and on the instructions given during the class. I like the variety of class formats offered and the ever-changing exercises done within each class. The variety keeps things fresh and helps me stay engaged and challenged. I want to stay fit and healthy as I age and Pure Barre classes will help me do just that.

This workout is extremely challenging but I felt my core getting stronger + it's FUN. I had to cancel my membership bc of expenses, but I plan on rejoining this summer because I miss it so very much. If you're looking for a judgment free / low impact exercise, this is the place. All the instructors are welcoming and sweet, but they're great at providing feedback on your form without making you feel icky.
