I bet you could make out in the corner under the watchful eye of a 15-foot statue of Augustus Caesar and nobody would care.

Since we were already planning on visiting Ostia Antica that same day, we decided to visit this Museum on our way there (its off the same Metro Line B). My wife was disappointed that nearly ALL of the exhibits were replicas, basically plaster casts of the real statues & antiquities. However, the scale model of Ancient Rome was actually worth the price of admission. We spent about 20 minutes in the room, surveying the diorama which fills an entire gigantic room. the model is on a scale of 1:250. Also very informative, since the exhibits are arranged in somewhat of a chronological order of Roman History. Very educational, which is why the only visitors aside from my wife & me were a bunch of elementary and secondary school groups on Field Trips. I'm not sure about it being a make-out place though --there are surveillance video cameras in every room, LOL. Only recommended it you are (like me) an Archeology nut. Otherwise, don't go out of your way to this off-the-grid museum. On the Metro B Line, take the Laurentina train and exit at the EUR-Fermi Stazione.

Domitilla herself donated the land, possibly just trying to be helpful, possibly aiming for posthumous saint clout. Of course, centuries of pilgrims, looters, and time didn't do the place any favors. Frescoes faded, bones wandered, and ancient graffiti proves people have always loved defacing sacred spaces. People suck! Today, it's a cryptic maze of faded glory, damp walls, and half-visible halos, perfect for anyone who likes their history with a bit of holy chaos. If only ring doorbells existed in the 2nd century.

But when they lay on the ground, you know it is huge. There was an hand only already bigger the entire body. There many famous Roman was carved to face of themselves. The first floor has many tombstone like bathtub. The side has a lot carving. The second floor is the most interesting. I like the detail of the artists had done. It is beautiful. This museum will take 1.5 hours to visit. The cost is minimum. The parking on the street probably more than the entrance fee.

You can spend hours wandering among these awesome ruins, which is a great way to spend the afternoon - and they really are amazing. Pictures don't do them justice. I'd suggest getting the self-guided audio tour. It's a smartphone with preloaded audio about all of the parts of the baths. It's a little quiet, but certainly not a dealbreaker. You do need to leave something like an ID so they know they'll get their smartphone back, but it's worth the few Euros you'll pay. The things you'll learn are fascinating. Overall, this has been one of my favorite spots in Rome. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for something a little more unique and quiet when compared to the other main attractions.

With this picture in your mind you become quite disappointed when visiting "Testaccio on Ice". The surrounding is disillusioning and the area not worth a visit (even if there are clubs close that might be good). Nervertheless, if you only think about doing sports, the artificial ice rink provides everything you need - ice skates can be rent there as well.
