I must confess, my friends and I only came here because we thought Saint Chapelle was in here as well. We saw the sign for the combo ticket and assumed they were in the same building. Saint Chapelle is right next door but we didn't realize that for quite a while, lol. HowEVER, it turned out to be quite fortuitous because the Palais, in its own right, is a very interesting place. It has more to do with its role in history (mostly the French Revolution) than any architectural feature, and I found it to be ultimately fascinating. You got to see what prison conditions were like during the revolution (minus the smells and blood, thank goodness), and its re-creation of Mario Antoinette's cell was quite eerie. There's a short film playing on loop in the museum that explains a lot about the Palais and its role in the Revolution that's worth watching. Best of all, after our visit we were able to get to the front of the line at Saint Chapelle with our combo ticket, so the hot tip is to buy the combo ticket at the Palais because there are no lines, then get to the front at the more popular Saint Chapelle.
