Pretty good food but I definitely recommend for your 1st time coming here with someone familiar…read morewith Nigerian cuisine, so you can gets some guidance on menu choices. My colleagues who bought me here, both have Nigerian heritage so was in good hands! However we ordered over the phone at least 30 mins ahead, as they warned me that ordering at the restaurant itself would take some time, as everything is cooked fresh. I decided to get Jollof Rice with Fish (£5.99) and an order of Plantains too, but when we got there, one of my colleagues had ordered Moin Moin (Bean Cake), plantains & fish, which was super tasty looking! The spices in the food were reminiscent of Indian cooking, but the heat/ spice tasted different. I really liked my plantains, so totally recommend, but I thought the Jollof Rice ate a bit too dry. Also my piece of fish could have had more curry. The Moin Moin was super tasty and quite dense, but not chewy. Initially I thought it was vegetarian, but realized later that there were pieces of meat inside, and not sure what it was, and for the rest of the afternoon felt guilty thinking had accidentally eaten beef, which is a protein I avoid since was raised in the Hindu faith. There's other interesting things on the menu, and I'm a novice when it comes to Nigerian food, so I wouldnt mind coming back to check other things on the menu. Yelp 13/ 2019

Car park wasnt good for your best shoes either - suggest jeans trainers and tee shirt. Reading the reviews - it seemed a great place to go - but they are dated 2012 - its now 2019. My friend googled their food cleanse things and was horrified to see zero rated. Summer 2019. ive just checked and its not changed. Go enjoy the garden centre - great plants and stuff.

Let's be honest, eating dinner at a garden centre usually sounds like the sort of things your parents or grandparents (depending on your age!) would do, however, this little slice of African themed heaven is a far cry from what you'd normal expect of such a place! I've not made it to Africa, though have traveled widely in Asia, and the outside felt totally authentic, being similar to bars and restaurants I've eaten in abroad. Even outside, you are sheltered from the rain, and inside, where the buffet is served, it's warm and cosy, with live music of an evening, and the most amazing spread of food. I've been a number of times since that first dinner, having returned in the day with my dog, as it's dog friendly if you're happy to sit outside - they even bring a bowl of water for our four legged friends! I've had lunch there, and the most fabulous afternoon cream tea, and cake, whilst the choice is limited, what they offer is very tasty (and I'm a fan of cake!) I loved it that much the first night, that I've refused to go there for a meal again, as I'm going for my 40th, which happens to fall on a Thursday, and looking forward to sharing the experience with close friends. The service is always friendly. It's not always super fast, as it runs on Kenyan time, so this isn't the place to go in a rush. Indeed, why would you? It's such a delightful experience that it deserves to be cherished. Oh, and the shop is pretty fab too! So yes, dog friendly, fab food, great shop and friendly service!

New review from Nov 2019:…read more This is my second visit here and far more disappointing. The reason is the waiter/owner was grumpy and when I asked for a takeaway box for the moyin moyin he actually scowled! Wow. The moyin moyin is quite flavourful but the jollof rice is a real disappointment. I've had far better in Ghana. Two years ago: I popped into here for lunch around 1:30pm today and whilst the owner could have been friendlier in greeting me (a smile doesn't hurt ya know), I appreciated him coming outside the restaurant to hand me my takeaway food where I had waited in the lovely sun for my order. The interior is quite small with only a couple of tables with lovely African sculptures all around. There is chalkboard of specials along with the regular menu. Sadly the sweet potato balls were sold out so I got the moin moin and the spinach stew. All together less than a tenner. There are four pieces of moin moin, which are just deliciously savoury. I recommend eating them with the nonspicy spinach stew with melon seed, which, whilst not delicious, was tasty and filling. It would be perfect on a cold winter night. If I was in the area, I would return just for the moin moin!
