I had to eat these words before they even came out of my mouth. Vintage Heaven does live up to its name by being not only very competitively priced but also stocked to the brim with goodies. They even have bloomers and although some people might draw the line at second hand pants, I say if you're going to do it, do it right. You could actually get an entire outfit here from bloomers to coat and hat for under £100 although you might be put off trying it on in their skanky cupboard of a fitting room. Despite that little inconvenience, I have to say, I am rather impressed and this shop might even make it possible on a rainy day to knock off walking all the way down Cheshire Street to Beyond Retro.

If you want to experience the true essence of vintage then Vintage Heaven is the place to be.

Now they have the kids, they wear clothes that you can put in the washing machine in case they get baby poo or baby vom on them, some of them had to get new clothes because making babies sometimes makes you a bit fat. So what did they do with all of their nice clothes? Probably tore them up and used them as eco friendly nappies but Strut has opened now, so every bodies problems are solved. Strut is a vintage store, specializing in designer labels and selling peoples stuff. Amazing. You can imagine how many Burberry and Aquscutum trenches were kicking around the back of all the yummy mummies walk in wardrobes in Stokey. Well, now they are all in Strut and that's just the start. Fancy a vintage Dior dress anyone? How about a barely worn red riding jacket? Tallyho I say and if this credit crunch gets any crunchier they'll probably have daddies silverware in there soon and I'll be waiting at the door to watch the good times roll in.

What separates it from all the other vintage stores down this street is the fact that these gems are designer... From Vivienne to Coco, you'll find all the ladies here, at a price and vintage but thats what you expect from a store that stocks itself at Chelsea Antique Fairs. It's a wonderful place to browse through even if the price tags are a little unrealistic, but you can try stuff on and have a play and the staff are friendly and helps and actually quite okay with that if you don't take the piss. This is a happy place, where I can browse and shop until my little shopaholic heart is content!

Soho Vintage, well, it kinda ticks my boxes. It's not huge but it has a decent enough selection. It also seems to stock some great men's wear. Need a leather jacket? You'll find one here boys. The shop is hidden off a back street and can be missed but if you're in the area it's worth popping in. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful if a little distracted by the phone. Encouraged by an easel sign on the busy Broadwick Street, I headed down the quiet Ingestre Place to the open door (and arms) of Soho Vintage. The tiny space was filled with a plethora of styles. From an antique Victorian skirt to the 80s off-the-shoulder sweatshirts that are all the rage right now, Soho Vintage represented all. The prices were a bit on the dear side but, considering its prime location in Soho, not surprisingly so. If you find something you absolutely must have, a little light haggling might work for you here, since the shop is so small - rue the fact that those vintage boots are £35 and you might get them for £30. Overall, this proved to be a solid vintage store with a wide variety of items (at a variety of price ranges) that belied the shop's size.

Although it's a tiny shop, it has so much stock, especially leather boots and suit jackets. What I found annoying however was the lack of visible pricing, which means you have to wait around until the sales person is free to answer your "how much is this?" question for the hundredth time. Vintage planet can be found downstairs behind the food stalls in the corridor along the right hand side of the market. Avoid it at weekends because it gets horribly busy, I went on a Thursday morning and practically had the place to myself.

The Stables- this new revamped building in the heart of Camden has been filled with shop owners, but, more of the copy-infringed T-shirts and some Asian imports. Kinda lame, for the past few years since its opening. But, after finding vintage planet-my perception is changing. Their clothes are just like fresh from the closets of those decades! And, the wholesome French approach of the owner, Ms. Kamir, enhanced my visit to Camden market as such a positive one, and I am still smiling remembering the warm welcome from the whole family. The vintage clothes in Camden Market has been overpriced, and yet, scarce to find anything good under the budget. but this Vintage Planet will brings you back to the 80s and 90s the old-time Camden Market. Her clothes are definitely wearable and they are mold/ odor free. And, most of all, it was fun chatting with the vendor, other than looking through her clothes, talking about the punk rock eras and changing scenes, then haggling down the prices without raising eye brows. In all, I will definitely go back to her stores whenever I return to London. And, I highly recommend her store to the vintage lovers of any ange like myself!

This shop does not take the piss and there are many bargains to be had.For instance you can find a 5 pound reduced trench coat, a 3 pound sweater and hot red patent leather boots ( looker not hooker style) for 15 pounds. The average coat will cost you about 10 pounds. I like the leather selection ( I am still a good vegetarian okay, I did not kill it in the first place. It did not die in vain.) and I like the fact I can afford it, even after bleach. I had a good look around here and really want the maroon leather boots ( I will come back). I also want some vintage wedges for 25 so I can be English and look hot and wear leggings. You'll love this store if you like Vintage. I love telling you about it and being 'in the know". Ps. I was happy to hear The Who being played over the loudspeakers when I arrived, Won't get Fooled Again!

Known simply amongst my friends as 'the shop of dreams' this place is a vintage treasure trove…read more It's also a secret and I am only writing a review because someone else did it first. I'm not sure if the people that work here are unaware of the fact that they could get four times as much for old clothes than what they charge, or if they are clever enough to realize that prices this low result in frenzied purchasing from people like me. I would guess the latter because there are always trendy Shoreditch types staggering around this store loaded with an entire wardrobe worth of fresh garms. I only ever went to Holloway Road because I had one class a week there when I was at uni. I would arrive for class an hour early every week just to go to the shop of dreams and still turn up late and sweaty with the rather tell tale sign of at least four shopping bags and wearing a scarf or a hat with the price tag still on. I always buy something from this shop because it is so incredibly cheap and I can't help myself. You can never have enough plaid shirts/lacoste tank tops/floral dresses and especially not when they cost less than a packet of fags and a pint. The most expensive items here are probably leather jackets and I picked up a purple American Jock style one last winter for £25.

She was hesitant, and tried to charge me £18 for it, rather than £12 "Just because I hate to separate it from the dress!" Eventually, as I was getting ready to leave, she goes, "If it makes it easier, I can sell it to you for £12 because that's how much the rest cost!" Gee, THANKS. I then asked how old she suspected the brooch was and she said "oh probably about 1950s, since it came from that dress and thats how old the dress was." I was a bit skeptical, but didn't argue since she'd already put the dress back across the room, and I figured she'd looked at it. About 20 seconds after I left the store, curiousity turned me around and I went back in to check the dress tag anyway. It said 1936. The woman was looking at me, so I explained that I had been curious and wanted to double-check. She goes, from across the room "Oh yeah, it Did say 1930's!" Really? Then why would you tell me it was 20 years older? Weird, really... The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the store did have a decent selection of scarves and pins. Don't trust the owner though, and watch your back.
