He already has experience with Scratch and is learning Python, so he found it less engaging than the coding platforms he is used to. We also found that the staff member giving us the tour was unable to answer many of our questions about the different camps and programs, which made it difficult to understand what each one offered. While the center has an exciting atmosphere and may be a good fit for children who are new to coding, we ultimately were not very impressed and did not feel it was the right fit for our family.

So when I learned about Code Ninja, I decided to give it a try. Turns out my daughter loved it. She says because it feels like playing a game (while learning many basic programming concepts like conditions and loops) The instructor is always friendly and helpful. My daughter sometimes struggles with staying put and pay attention, the instructors are all incredibly skilled and more importantly patient! My daughter especially enjoy the circuits work in addition to learning coding, very good to have some hands on balance. We recently had her birthday party there, it was drop off, so the patents got to go and enjoy a couple drinks near by while the children had such a fun time! He said they told him how to sign onto the computer, but then he'd be playing on Minecraft the entire day with little supervision and next to zero instruction. He was basically playing Minecraft for the entire time he was there and that was it. He had friends in the class as well and they also verified the lack of any direction or instruction. At the end of the week, we asked again what he had learned and he promptly said, "Nothing." I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this one deserved putting the calories into. It was a complete waste of time, energy, and money.

We did that and my son was hooked! We decided to try the 1 week camp during the holiday school break and it was a hit. The camp was Monday - Friday, 3 hours a day (3p-6p) and being brand new to coding, it was amazing how much my son was able to learn and create in the weeks time he spent. We love how each kid can learn and create at their own pace and that they have drop in and monthly (one hour/ once or twice a week) which you can download their app to conveniently schedule.
