If you're looking for a fancy pants spa experience with infused water and snack mix this is not the place, but if you're looking for a REAL, SKILLED massage therapist look no further. Pain Busters is in a small beige medical building across the street from the Super Max (kitty corner to the Double Tree) on the 4th floor. James is AMAZING. I had so much tension built up and James provided the best deep tissue massage that was all hands (no forearms or elbows) I went in for the 1 hour full body massage and he was so thorough, he worked out tensions I didn't even know I was suffering from. This will be a must stop destination whenever I come back to San Juan. Honestly, for $80/hr I checked to see how cheap a flight I could catch back JUST TO COME HERE. Amazing deep tissue massage! I have recurring neck and back pain, which I went in for, though the massage could work for anyone. It both pinpointed areas of pain and flowed nicely across all body areas. The pressure didn't hurt, but was still hard enough to loosen tight areas. I would recommend this location to anyone. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment, and you'll be back, time and time again. In 60 minutes he accomplishes more than most will in 120 minutes. James effortlessly combines various techniques and on any given appointment, you may end up with a blend of PT, electro stimulation, craniosacral, deep tissue, spa-level relaxation, cupping therapy. All within 60 minutes. I walk out a changed person. Crazy part is - he even takes insurance. I kid you not. For the first time in my life, I can use my health insurance on something that feels like true luxury. My body thanks Puerto Rico healthcare system and Painbusters. PS. I've introduced my whole family to painbusters and they are regulars. We even buy packages of massage sessions for our visitors who don't have local health insurance coverage. PPS. This is a very hyped place. It's very expensive with mediocre massage therapists. The room was so cold for a massage room and there was a lot of unnecessary noises. The therapist did not really asked what you need and want. He asked me to take of my clothes and lay on the table with not even a towel to cover you. Waste of time and $$$. All the other reviews note that the masseuse has strong hands, so that's what I was expecting. With that said, a massage is NOT supposed to leave you bruised and in more pain than when you started. And it wasn't just that he was strong, he was rough and aggressive. And he never once asked if the pressure was ok! I contacted Pain Busters after being duped into a "deep tissue" massage at one of the spas. It's what I should have done in the first place. James responded quickly and I was able to set up an appointment in the early evening. He asked questions and was extremely attentive to what I was saying and gave me an excellent massage. Hands down the BEST MASSAGE my husband and I ever had. The owner James and his employee Jose were extremely knowledgeable, welcoming but most of all professional. We called the next morning after we went hiking and my husband had woken up in a lot of pain and they fit us in. Yelp had the wrong location for the office. We called and James not only pleasantly explained how to get to his location he continued to accommodate us for the full hour once we got there. During the massage they made it very comfortable and relaxing. If we could give them more than 5 stars we would. I was visiting from Atlanta. Prior to arriving I had a upper rib out for about a week and visited a chiropractor 4 times. On the flight down, the opposite side rib felt out of alignment and I was in instant pain and fear of a ruined vacation.
