We decided to check out El Celler del Tossal based on reviews here and on Trip Advisor, and…read morethankfully we had quite a nice dining experience. We came for lunch on a Tuesday, and unlike many other restaurants we dined at during our trip to Europe, this one had it's doors closed and we had to ring to be let in. Once in, I was slightly surprised at how elegant the place was. We were looking for a more casual lunch and was worried it may cost more than we had hoped to spend. Thankfully the entire lunch cost us only 41 euros, and that included two 4-course meals and a class of wine for myself and my partner. I was so glad we decided on this restaurant because the meal was fantastic. Each dish was better than the last. Lunch menu is decided, so 17.50 euros gets you an appetizer, entree, main course, and a dessert. For our appetizer we had the croquettes. It was a small portion, one croquette each, but it was so good. The filling melted inside your mouth, and the presentation was beautiful. Next, we had the ceviche. Again, it was incredible. Better than the croquettes, if that was possible. After that we had the steak, it also was delicious! The portion was perfect as well, leaving enough room for dessert. We chose the cheesecake, and their preparation was not like a regular cheesecake - instead it was almost a pudding with crust at the bottom. It was so tasty that I wish I was eating it again. The staff was very friendly to us Americans and we would definitely dine here again when we return - it was hands down the best meal of the entire trip.

Every day, the chef at Palao Bistrot selects fresh raw ingredients from the market, creating a menu that reflects the beauty and range of the Valencia garden. My friend and I ate at Palao Bistrot for dinner, and were more than satisfied with our experience. The service was great, as everyone was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant design is contemporary yet inviting, with warm wall colors and tall wood tables that create an intimate atmosphere. We started with the fish of the day - salmon - and shared an order of salmon sashimi, which was sliced just right, getting enough of the raw flavor in each piece. The fish was so fresh, tasting like it was just caught that day. This dish shows how Palao Bistrot stays true to its concept of only using the freshest ingredients. My friend loved her main course of vitello tonnato, which was sliced veal covered in a creamy, mayonnaise-like sauce flavored with tuna. She raved about the sauce, saying the tuna flavor was not overpowering but instead enhanced the taste of the meat. I opted for French duck thigh confit, with potatoes baked with thyme. Expertly seasoned, this dish would make any renown French chef proud. The potatoes were tender and not mushy, and the duck was juicy. We both enjoyed the oven baked crespella with ragu sauce, which was savory and cooked to perfection. Dinner was completed with my first ever bonet, a dessert from the Piedmonte region of Italy, it was chocolatey perfection. I highly recommend Palao Bistrot for anyone looking for a mix of culinary influences. From the service to the atmosphere, we loved everything about the restaurant, especially the delicious food!
