My imaging was uploaded at check-in, and I was repeatedly told the doctor would see me shortly. I then waited 2 hours and 45 minutes without ever being seen by Dr. Andrew Yun. During that time, I was moved from room to room and repeatedly told he would be in "in a few minutes." Only after nearly three hours did the office manager tell me that Dr. Yun would not see me without the imaging reports--the very reports their written instructions said were not required. Why was this not communicated when I checked in? Why was I allowed to sit there for nearly three hours before anyone mentioned it? The staff was dismissive, rude, disorganized, and remarkably unprofessional. What was equally disappointing was that Dr. Yun walked by during this ordeal but never came in to address the situation or even briefly speak with me. I ultimately left after wasting nearly three hours without receiving any medical care whatsoever. A deeply frustrating experience and an astonishing lack of respect for a patient.

After careful review Dr. Melikian recommended a microdiscectomy which ended up being the best decision for my back. Expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $9,000 or more for various stem cell treatment options. Since he doesn't seem to believe in prolotherapy, I'm sure he doesn't believe in any of the procedures being done to restore cartilage. I write this in my…read morethird month of recovery from the PAO and arthroscopy surgery: I am relatively young, in my early twenties, and never had surgery in my life, so the idea of getting TWO surgeries (Arthroscopy and PAO) was very scary. I also had another issue where I could not accept blood transfusions of any kind. That also added to my level of fear and distress. The idea of a minimally invasive PAO is not something I had heard of before and was very anxious. However, Dr. Garabekyan was SO patient in answering every question I had. His assistant Susie was also amazing and gave us anything we needed. When in the hospital, he frequently visited and called to make sure that I was okay. As expected, my hemoglobin did drop, but thanks to the salvage saving method used, I never had any critical blood loss/feel the side effects of anemia. I felt very, very minimal pain. The medication prescribed was perfect. The "hard" part was the period of 1-2 weeks after leaving the hospital, as sleeping was very difficult due to being a side sleeper. Dr. Garabekyan's advice (using many small pillows to relieve pressure) will helped getting through the night a lot easier. Another thing that amazed me is that he would answer our questions even on his vacation time. His recovery process was VERY well detailed, and we never needed to guess on what methods of recovery he wanted us to do. I have been to many hip doctors at Cedar Sinai and other hospitals, and I've never had a doctor as caring and patient as Dr. Garabekyan. I went to see Dr Melamed and we discussed the possibility of surgery but he suggested I should take a conservative approach first and get physical therapy. Unfortunately my neck really never got better so I went back to see Doctor Melamed.In July of 2024 I had cervical disc replacement performed by Dr Melamed. I had four discs replaced so it was a pretty major surgery.The surgery went extremely well as did my recovery. I had very limited pain if any at all after the surgery and I wound up getting almost full relief from any neck pain and virtually 100% motion returned.
