A stuff-up with paperwork for a work-related move meant that we had to organise (and pay for) our own move from Townsville to Brisbane with a week and a half's notice. Nic was professional, understanding and reassuring during this stressful time, and gave me a quote (that they stuck to) and very reasonable payment options. Nic also helped by giving us a spreadsheet that calculated the m3 needed for all furniture and belongings. The list was comprehensive and showed us that we booked the correct amount of space for a hassle-free move. They fit us on to a truck that happened to be passing through town the exact dates we needed, collected our belongings from our two bedroom home on the Thursday afternoon in Townsville and delivered, exactly on time, two days later on the Saturday morning. Brett managed the logistics of the move and kept us updated. Zac and Sam were our removalists and were courteous, good-natured and efficient. They were helpful in keeping us up to date as they approached Brisbane, and were very helpful when unpacking the truck, offering to put any furniture we wanted in any room we needed. They picked up and delivered with a smile and good humour, which was exactly what we needed. Also worth noting we had an elevator and stairs at the pickup address, and a double flight of stairs (3 stories) at the delivery address. No mess, no fuss, no damage, excellent service. If I had to recommend a moving company for any short, long or interstate hauls to close friends or family, would recommend Brisk Transport in a heartbeat.

Why would you take the regular ferry to Coochie island, which costs $4 each way, when you can take…read morethe Amity barge for $2.50? I know the ferry has a more extensive schedule so obviously if only the ferry is running, then that's your only choice. But otherwise I recommend the barge. It's more fun and it felt faster. Beware that there are no seats. This barge takes pedestrians and cars, but when we rode it, there were no cars, so you could pretty much stand anywhere. The ride is only about 5 minutes. Coochiemudlo island is beautiful, by the way, and totally worth $2.50 each way to get there. Make sure you read the barge schedule carefully and ask the operators when the last barge runs, because the signage is not totally clear.

For instance, just the other day I ran out of my prescription medication and couldn't get into the medical centre. My regular pharmacy was able to contact my doctor, organise all the paperwork and provide an emergency supply over the weekend. Healthy World Pharmacy in Mount Gravatt is my pharmacy of choice for its friendly staff, convenience AND huge range of cosmetics. I'm not kidding. They have a huge range of cheap cosmetics. I remember their original pharmacy in Stones Corner use to be known as make-up and perfume specialists. Well, they've brought the same range to their Mt Gravatt shop. It's great browsing through their discounted Loreal, Maybelline and Elizabeht Arden lines while waiting for my prescription. For those more into their health than make-up, Healthyworld also offer a full time naturopath and specialise in sports/ body building and nutritional supplements. Their downstairs location is directly next to a bulk billing medical centre with both male and female doctors. So for those people living in the Mt Gravatt area, taking care of your health is now quick, affordable and convenient.

The end product is an attractive book with an eye-catching cover that was very competitive in pricing. Clark and Mackay advised in all aspects of printing and took care of aspects above and beyond what was usual. Although it was a very busy time of year, they met a very tight deadline that we needed to meet and met an equally tight reprint. Nothing was too much trouble. All this in a friendly atmosphere. Like many other sufferers out there, the list goes on. At first, when I went to complain about all these inconvenient things happening with my Optus provider, I was ready to start bashing walls and start knocking things over- my frustration had peaked. Luckily, for everyone that never happened. I spoke to the staff there about the issues I had with the telephone company and they actually listened and actually went and fixed it. No hassles, no drama. Problems were solved within 24 hours or for some issues less than 2 minutes. The team at the Optus 'Yes' store in Mt Ommaney have the best customer service of any telecommunications company I've ever encountered. They must see plenty of angry and complaining customers, however, they're able to still remain calm and professional throughout it all and solve most of the issues. Great team!
