A friend stumbled across the website for this tree farm and let us in on his secret find. The farm apparently has been around for 20 years though it is new to us. The sign and entrance are not all that visible from the main street and Waze has the location off slightly, but after traveling down the winding drive you're treated to an expansive view of Christmas trees dotting a bucolic farm that abuts stabled horses and broad open fields. The owners are extremely accommodating and quite proud of the variety of trees they grow. Compared to the average tree farm, it does appear that Riverwind has a much broader variety including an interesting Turkish fir tree that is very full and composed of rich, deep green colored needles. My family and I had a lot of fun walking along the various fields including crossing a small river to reach the most remote areas of the farm. The trees are not on top of each other like at other farms and there are a variety of sizes available from as short as 5 feet to his tall is 15 feet. Only tagged trees are available for purchase and the prices weren't cheap but were by and large on par with other tree farms. The sales hut has handmade and manufactured Christmas ornaments. Homemade wreaths and greens are available as well. In addition there was free hot chocolate, hot cider, and cookies for the kids. The staff have all-terrain vehicles available that I think could be used to help haul your tree if you are unable to use the hand wagons they provide. Saws are also supplied if you don't bring your own. The staff provide complementary tree trimming, shaking and netting and will bring your tree to your car. I'm not certain they'll actually secure it to your car though since I had brought my own straps and did it myself. The owners pay close attention to details with the netting being green and red in color as opposed to the standard orange. I almost regret writing this post as I figure the masses will learn of this great farm and we'll be on the hunt again next year for a new Christmas tree source. Finally, there were some ready cut trees available for those who can't find their ideal tree or don't wish to cut their own.

He gave us the lay of the land, telling us all about the trees, shop, fire pit with hot chocolate. So impressed by the hospitality the entire visit. We bought a beautiful tree and a few items from the shop. My wife and daughters enjoyed the cocoa and fire pit with a great conversation with the owner. These people were the salt of the earth and have a great product. I don't think you can go bad with any tree you get there. Amazing we have lived in the area for 3 years and never knew it was there. Funny note we get ice cream less than a thousand feet from the entrance. I will go back every year now! Did I mention the cut tree selection was amazing? You would think I work there with a review like this but I just love the way they run their business and care - so many businesses forget that people are the heart of a business - the team and the customers... Adding to the atmosphere, there is christmas music and they provide saws to cut or will cut it for you. All employees wear festive clothing, and bail your tree for free. These fresh cut trees stay fresh for months, and like I previously mentioned- you pick the size! You can pick smaller trees to the larger 10 ft trees...all just $40!

When I asked if they would open another part of the farm they said "maybe, not sure" or " we might but not at least for an hour".
