Dr. Trivellas confirmed I had strength but I couldn't lift my right arm, as the MRI showed I apparently I had a 90% tear. When I received the call a much sooner surgery day was available in a few days instead of a few weeks, I had to take it. The nursing staff made my 7:30am check-in a smooth one, with lots of information shared with me. The waiting moments leading to Dr. Trivellas visiting before wheeling into surgery was calming. I remember the moment my oxygen mask was put on my face, and the next time I saw a room again I was in recovery. The nerve block was still doing its magic over the next 12 hours, reminding me that my days of waking in the night and morning with pain would be behind me soon. I want to thank Dr. Trivellas of course, but also: her scheduler, Yvonne who got me into the earlier surgery date; Reyna at the front desk to make sure my paperwork was in order; Hanna & Kristi, my Pre-Op nurses who prepped me for my surgery; Dr. Prunean who safely sent me to lala land; Elaine & Rich who were my OR Team; Mikki, my RNFA who let me know she'd be assisting Dr. Trivellas; and my Post-Op nurse Kristi who welcomed me back to reality in the recovery area. Dr. Todd Peters (now retired) and his assistant Kaylee were excellent for low back consultations, X-rays, and PT prescriptions--always available and thorough. Dr. Melikian, a spine specialist, saw me for neck/shoulder pain. Despite bringing neck X-rays/MRIs, he quickly identified shoulders as the primary issue (limited rotation vs. decent neck mobility) and referred me to Dr. Shore. He never rushed me, always ensured I had no more questions, and his assistant Joanna was phenomenal--one of the best I've encountered. She performed quick but detailed tests (grip strength, rotation, tender points) and genuinely cared, helping shift focus to my shoulder effectively. Dr. Vivek Babaria (pain management) treated chronic neck tightness and cervical radiculopathy. In 2023, he did facet joint injections; in 2025, an epidural steroid injection (C5-C7 herniations) that finally helped with issues where neck pain was keeping me from sleeping. His newer assistant Hank in late 2025 was equally impressive, starting with conservative treatment when I brought an MRI showing mild shoulder tendinosis/bursitis, prescribing PT and baclofen, then noting clear posture/pain improvement at month follow-up. They did not overtreat and go straight to another injection which was nice. From imaging reviews to injections and conservative care, everyone at DISC stands out for attentiveness and expertise. Highly recommend Dr. Melikian, Dr. Babaria, and likely anyone else for neck, back, shoulder, nerve, etc pain issues.

They were knowledgeable and provided quality care, although they seemed understaffed. My biggest concern was with the front desk and billing process. I was scheduled for more visits than my insurance coverage allowed, and I was later told that I was fully responsible for the additional fees. While I understand that patients are responsible for knowing their insurance benefits, I also expect a basic level of communication and customer service from a medical office. A clinic should have a system to track the number of authorized visits and alert patients when they are approaching or exceeding their coverage limits. Instead, I was left feeling like the responsibility was shifted entirely onto me for an issue that could have been prevented with better internal tracking and communication. It is frustrating to receive good clinical care but have such a disappointing experience with the administrative side.
