Dolphin / Sea Lion Nature Tours - We feature several different types of sailing charters and boat tours. Our Sea Lion / Dolphin boat tours leave at 10am, 1pm and again at 4pm every day. This is a spectacular 2 hour sightseeing tour and one the whole family will enjoy. Our sailing boat tours and boat charters allow you to enjoy breathtaking views of downtown while relaxing on your own private yacht. Take a sailing lesson and explore the naval base, aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines, not to mention an incredible abundance of sea life including Sea Lions, Dolphins and Whales. You can’t come to San Diego and NOT see the seals and sea lions. Still not sure what the difference is? pacifca sailing charters | boat tours | san diegoHere is the easiest explanation: If they have large flippers, bark loudly, you can see their ear flaps and they are brown, they are sea lions. If they have small flippers, you can’t see their ear flaps, and they wriggle on their bellies when on land, it is a seal. So BIG ears, flippers, and voice means sea lion (the word is bigger so use that to remember). Small means small flippers, small or no ear flaps, small to the ground since they wriggle on their belly equals seal – which is the smaller word. Now when you go to San Diego to see the Seals or Sea Lions you will know which is which and will be able to impress your fellow visitors! pacifca sailing charters | boat tours | san diegoThere are a couple of options for seeing the seals and sea lions in the San Diego area. The best decision you want to make is to see them on close up from a boat. You can get up close and personal with the seals without disturbing them from several of our boat tours. I guarantee you will stand there for longer then you think just watching them lay there, then quickly wiggle out of the way as the water comes closer, or fight over an open spot. It was also really cool to watch the seals swim up out of the ocean and on to the bait barge only a couple of feet away from us on the boat. We even got to see some adorable pups!

Heading out from the bay to the ocean....

Our sail with Pacifica Sailing Charters was fantastic. Captain Mick is so knowledgable - both about sailing and the area - which added even more to the beautiful day spent on the water.

      Hi Captain Mick

Captain Mick is so amazing! I'm here for my birthday and is very informative and a great captain. Please book Pacifica sailing charters for your next occasion!! Thank you for a great time!

      Tracey L.

Sailing with Mick on a private sailing with Pacifica was so much fun. He was very knowledgeable of the area and was a wonderful and funny Captain. It was smooth sailing all the way and we got to see lots of seals, the Navy and animal kind, and spotted some dolphin too. If you are in the area and want the luxury of a private sail with family or friends, look no further, this is the company to book with. Thank you Mick for a really fun few hours and memories for a lifetime!

      Robin S.

Had such a great time on Pacifica Sailing Charters. Mick was the perfect captain and we loved our catamaran excursion yesterday. We will definitely be back.

      taylor h.

Omg we had the best time! We also saw dolphins and sea lions and an aircraft carrier! It was incredible and the best anniversary ever! Thanks a million Mick!

      Anni A.

We had the best time celebrating my husbands birthday. The booking process was seamless and the crew was accommodating and so easygoing. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful San Diego sunset and ended the night with a full moon rising over the city. Our guests kept saying how amazing the evening was, truly unforgettable.

Mick was an amazing captain! Such a beautiful day on the catamaran cruising around San Diego bay. My girlfriends and I celebrated my 60th birthday and had a fantastic time. Mick is funny, nice, and took such great care of us,and took us to spots to see seals and dolphin. Highly recommend and would do this again! Thank you Mick and Pacifica Sailing Charters!

Me getting a turn on the wheel

Mick is an absolute professional. He has a long and prestigious history as a yacht racer - and wild stories to boot. His laid-back sense of humor and warm demeanor make him an amazing captain. I would recommend him to anyone.

Mick was an amazing captain and made our trip so exciting and seamless. It was a wonderful way to spend the day on July 4. A super smooth afternoon!

      Ryan S.

Seriously an awesome time! Got an awesome deal and they had no issues with my very pregnant wife! Captain Mike was amazing! Really made us feel comfortable on the boat and on the water. Couldn't ask for a better day or view. This adventure was the highlight of our trip! And it wasn't only because someone else was watching our kids

      Melina K.

We had booked the two hour trip for a friends bachelorette party and it was honestly so amazing!! We all wished we had booked a longer trip. Captain Stephen met us on the dock right on time and he instantly made us all feel right at home. He was super professional and fun and kept us entertained the whole time with fun stories. The weather was perfect and we packed some snacks and drinks which I would recommend doing. This for sure was the highlife of the weekend. Thank you for such a wonderful time!!!

      Sarah H.

We had the BEST time during our catamaran ride this past weekend!! We had the entire boat to ourselves, which was well maintained, and Mick was an excellent captain. We even got lucky enough to see the dolphin training -- SO cute!! It was a special time and we'll definitely be back for another ride over summer.

      Olivia C.

Such a great experience, amazing captain mick, would 10/10 recommend to all my friends who are wanting a fun water experience in San Diego. Great for parties, and just genuinely great service.

Whether you're a local or visiting San Diego this is a really fun activity on the weekend with yummy drinks and good vibes. Originally we were booked for a 10:30am tour that goes out to watch the sea lions out on the bay, unfortunately not enough people booked that one so it was cancelled. Even though our original plan was cancelled Tiki Time Tours went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience and not only complimentary upgraded our tickets to a more expensive tour, they also gave our party a free round of drinks for the inconvenience! I think this speaks a lot about a company; anyone can be happy with customer service when everything goes according to plan, but the most important times to step up is when plans get cancelled/changed and that's exactly what they did for us! Instead of the sea lion tour we ended up doing the Tiki Live! tour at 3pm. This tour is about 2 hours and while you're out on the water you mingle with everyone else and play games that can win prizes for yourself, your party or the whole boat! The games were fun, interactive and silly. At some points we got close enough to shore and made people on land be a part of our games! Donny was our tiki tour master and he was really funny during the whole tour. In between games he just let the music play so we could enjoy the atmosphere and drinks. My entire group left with nothing but great things to say about the whole experience. My friend even won a free tour for another time so we will definitely be returning for more tiki fun.

RANDOM SUNDAY -…read moreStunning Views - Drinks + shots - Stunning views - chances to win money and prizes My friends randomly saw this boat and said we should do it for fun. Tickets were around $47 per person for a 2hr water tour around the Bay in a boat decorated in tiki decor. For tourist this tour is great with a ton of fun information about San Diego and stunning views in the water. Minimum 8 people on the boat or there may be cancellation of the tour. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS. The guide will have some friendly trivia for a chance to win good cash prices, free drinks, gift cards, etc I think that was pretty fun to include in while getting a tour. If you are sensitive to getting seasick, I would recommend a Dramamine beforehand. Although the boat was spacious, it still felt the wakes from the other boats and you can go rocking. In addition there were slow times of moving and turning. Or you can just chuck down a few drinks and feel numb to it all! They have a Tiki Bar with a drink menu (no food) to purchase from and if you bring snacks to eat - you can't eat it on the boat. Drinks were good but their "house" made shots were pretty good! We had a couple rounds of those while on tour - paid round by a passenger or a free shot in the house by the staff. The awkward but not so awkward would be mingling with other folks on the boat that you don't know. One of my friends kept interjecting with another party and while they seem to not mind I could tell they were being polite but if it were me I'd probs be annoyed if someone kept interjecting while I'm having a good time with my friends. Although we all got along and occasionally shared cheers with shots. Luckily the boat was near empty with just a few of us to have some space to do your thing. Overall, nice little 2hr time in the water. Would highly recommend the later session to catch the sunset. Until the next review....

They were all so helpful and accommodating. I cannot tell you how warm and inviting they all were. You could definitely tell they loved their jobs. For me...So, despite Dramamine and sea sickness bands I got really nauseous; and I think my 3 year old did too but couldn't verbalize, because she passed out about 1.5 hours into the trip-so I was just kind of sitting towards the back holding my toddler mid trip. Which is about the time when the whales appeared! (Up to that point we saw different birds, pods of dolphins and sea lions.) So these whales on our trip were on the starboard side when they appeared, but I was on the port side, kinda stuck sitting with my sleeping toddler. At one point Colleen came and asked if she could help me move to see the whales, but that was easier said than done, especially not feeling well. I let her know she was sweet but we were okay. Well as the boat tracked the whales, I guess Colleen and Sara both mentioned to the captain that we were kind of stuck in the back on the Port side and the captain ended up turning the boat towards the whales so I could see them. It was the sweetest thing and I felt so seen as a mama. :) I didn't know how a whale watching trip could go above and beyond, but they did! We did a 12:30pm tour on a Monday and there seemed to be a good crowd, but they were not at full capacity, which meant moving around was an option for those that wanted to. We will be back, this was a great choice!

We also got to see Navy SEAL boats, Coast Guard boats, military planes, and helicopters! Also saw some sea lions and many birds. Such a fun way to see the bay and learn a little more about the city.

If you're looking for an amazing private cruise, definitely book with San Diego Boat Cruises!! We were on Miss Jen II (50' yacht) and it comfortably fit 12 women (the max occupancy). We all fit under the covered seating in the back of the boat together as well as on the bow at the same time. Below deck was nice, although we didn't spend much time down there aside from using the two bathrooms or making drinks in the kitchenette. The boat was equipped with a huge JBL speaker, phone chargers, a cooler with ice, soft drinks, water bottles, mixers, cups, and snacks (assorted chips). We brought our own alcohol, sandwiches, and extra snacks since we cruised at lunch time. We were on the water from 12-3:30pm and even though the day was cloudy, it didn't spoil our fun. The time flew by! We started the trip all seated in the covered area as we were cruising by the seals and to Point Loma. We cruised through San Diego Bay and ended up anchoring at Glorietta Bay, partying on the bow. The whole trip was a blast and Captain Paul was wonderful! He even got some great photos and videos for us! I booked the trip with Captain Glenn, who was easy to coordinate with. Overall I highly recommend San Diego Boat Cruise and would book with them again for any special occasion.

There's also a bow pulpit walkway (with a strong railing) that extends off the front of the boat over the water if you need an adrenaline rush like we did. The view from here is incredible. An invitingly beautiful lounge area with a snack bar is a good space for those who get chilled or need to come out of the sun. The bathrooms, or "heads," were spotless! The captain was skilled and careful, and the naturalist, Melissa, was easy to listen to and informative. The crew was pleasant and helpful. A++ Our amazing day included lengthy up-close encounters with two very large pods of dolphins. Scores of short-beaked mamas and calves surfed in the wake of the bow, while others frolicked in the open water around us. It was quite a show. The dolphins were so close we could see the patterns on their skin and hear them click-talk to each other. A bit later, an even larger pod, this time long beaked dolphins, were engaged in feeding behaviors that were fascinating to observe. We even saw a dolphin stampede-- a rare occurrence. Though none of the big whales came out to play, we were definitely satisfied with our day. It was spectacular! And since the boat comes out of San Diego Bay, the trip also provides a closer-up look at various military sites on the bay side of Pt Loma and the many sea lions lounging on the buoys and barges! I'm def planning a trip for later in the fall. As for you, just do it! You'll be glad you did.

We got to see humpback whales, sea lions, and so many common dolphins. The crew was all so welcoming, friendly, and happy to answer any questions you have. It was a smooth riding experience and plenty of seating. It wasn't very crowded on the boat and was very spacious. They even have a whale watching guarantee on their website that says if you don't see a whale then the next trip is free which is really neat. This is a small and locally owned business whose crew is very respectful of the wildlife. They ensure to keep a distance to keep the wildlife safe. They do offer drinks and snacks for purchase or you are free to bring your own! It lasted 3 and a half hours. It was an unbelievable experience and I highly recommend Wild Pacific Whale Watch! Pro-tip I found a great deal on Groupon for it to be more affordable for my husband and I to go. Also, they had a promo code going that Capital One shopping found for me. :)
