Romancing the Winds is the choice for chartering a boat to enjoy the beautiful San Diego harbor. My family and I gathered to spread my father's ashes. Jim, the rest of the crew, and Bernice were excellent. Professional and accommodating they ensured this special event went flawlessly. Two of the family members have limited mobility, and have issues with stairs. Jim and the crew got them out of the wheelchairs, and onboard with no problems. The large vessel had comfortable seating for folks in their seventies and younger. Plenty of room for the nineteen attendees. Finally, the team are excellent communicators. From the booking to returning to dock I felt informed and taken care of. We were racing against a storm, and the FUNeral speeches were going a bit long. Jim politely came up to me, whispered "fifteen minutes until the rain starts", and allowed me to direct the family to wrap it up. Highly recommend Romancing the Winds! We chartered the boat last summer and it was literally the highlight of my summer! Jim and Bernice are incredible and easy to work with. The rest of the sailing crew was hospitable and made sure that our group of friends had an amazing trip. The price is very reasonable. We sailed from the marina, under the Coronado Bridge, anchored by the Strand, had time for swimming, and then sailed back. I am planning to rent the boat again this summer! read more

Review from April 2018 Sailing (stuck in my drafts) *trigger warning* Racial slur was used (N-word) by Captain Jack when our group played rap music on the boat. The comment uttered by Captain Jack was, "Can't believe they're playing this N***** music on my boat." He made this comment on his way below deck not knowing that a handful of us were below deck prepping snacks. Captain Jack did not apologize, let alone acknowledge what had occurred. This incident was appalling, unacceptable and inappropriate. This made the rest of our time on the boat uncomfortable and awkward as our group no longer felt comfortable or safe on this boat. Now, I believe that this company has been sold and is now under new ownership; but I feel that this review is still relevant to post to inform others to the experience we had with this company. I can only hope that incidents like these no longer occur under the new ownership and new Captain. That being said, despite the above incident, our sailing experience was quite enjoyable. We were able to bring our own drinks and food on board to enjoy and the trip itself was very serene. Will not be back nor would I recommend this charter company based on our experience. read more

SO. MUCH. FUN. Sailed away from 1-4pm on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 25+ lovely ladies for one of my good friends' bachelorette party! It was a lovely day, weather was greath, the sailing was smooth, and the experience altogether was a memorable one. Our captain, our bartender, and the rest of the crew on the ship were extremely helpful and friendly. For about an hour on the ride, they anchor and put out a raft for part of your group to wade in. You can also dive into the water should you be so brave. The boat itself was spacious. Plentiful seating for a group as large as ours. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink, though I believe the boat is fully stocked with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for you to enjoy as well. It was my most favorite part of our mini-vacay in SD and I would recommend this sailing ride to anyone who might be throwing a lit party. read more

Yesterday we took 15 of our hotel managers out to celebrate a job well done. Romancing the Wind was the perfect venue for us. There was plenty of room, the boat was clean and the Captains did a great job. We explored all of San Diego Bay and the sailing was incredible. We had a bit of snag in the pre-prep of the food & beverage, but the team quickly resolved the issue. From start to end, this was the easiest and most pleasant experience organizing an event I have ever encountered. I booked through Get My Boat which was seamless - the crew is super responsive on the booking platform and extremely thoughtful and accommodating, especially considering most of us were in from out of town! Bernice helped coordinate catering and had everything delivered and set up when we arrived. The crew was efficient at getting us welcomed onboard and at sea quickly so we could enjoy our time at sea. We had an amazing sunset cruise on July 30 which was the highlight of our weeklong family reunion! Our family of 19 felt very comfortable on the spacious yacht. The professional crew included Capt. Jack and John who navigated around San Diego Bay and assured that we got a a perfect sunset view over Pt. Loma and a close up visit with the sea lions on the wharf. Bernice was the perfect hostess who assured that the food and wine we brought aboard was ready when we wanted to eat. (They already had beverages on board for everyone, which was a very nice touch.) It was the first time we have chartered a yacht and we weren't sure what to expect. Capt. Jack graciously agreed to a preview tour in the spring. It didn't take but a minute for us to decided this was the yacht we wanted to charter! We look forward to another outing on Romancing the Wind! read more
