We stayed at the Pacific Winds Condos, which were booked through Keystone Vacation Rentals. The unit was very cozy, and the kitchen was fully equipped to cook most meals. There was ample space for my small family (2 adults and one busy toddler), and the view from the unit was incredible. The best aspect of this property is it's proximity to the beach access point, which is less than a block away!
Our unit had tons of books, movies and games available, which was nice during our downtime. The two bedrooms were large, and had their own bathrooms which was a nice bonus.
With the description above it seems unusual that I would have given a 2-star rating... I struggled between 1 or 2 stars. We arrived on a Wednesday (6/13), and after a long day of travel we looked forward to going to bed. We left the windows open so we could hear the ocean, and around 4:00 AM we heard whispering outside and then a minute later a hot-tub and jets was turned on. Around 4:30 AM I looked outside because the voices and moaning seemed relatively close to our unit, what do ya know - there were two people who broke in to our LOCKED hot tub. I woke my husband up who went out and yelled at the intoxicated, naked man and woman who then quickly ran off.
We called the rental company, and they seemed apologetic and advised that this had happened at a few other units. There was a poor attempt by a maintenance man to contact us to discuss changing the locks; however, we were not going to sit inside all morning or afternoon waiting for him, so we unfortunately missed him when he stopped by. Given the lock was accessible outside, I don't know why they didn't just change the lock and leave the spare key in the lockbox where the main keys are locked for the vacationers arriving... We did not get an opportunity to use the hot tub either as it seemed unsanitary.
Not knowing who had keys to what (i.e., obviously the hot tubs, and maybe units?) we were careful to not leave anything valuable in the unit whenever we left. It was also difficult to sleep every night for the same reasons.
Advice to future vacationers booking this property: request a unit on the second or third floor.
Advice to Keystone: enhance the security around the hot tubs; drain and sanitize the hot tubs when you receive complaints along the same lines as ours; improve customer service and attempt to make things right when the customer calls you with a security-based complaint, or any complaint for that matter. read more
