Here are the basic issues: 1) the billing is slow and convoluted. I ended up paying a lot of money. 2) it is their job to know lactation/pumping and after many visits they did not suggest a few things that ended up changing the game for me and my baby. The long story: The clinic ladies are all kind, compassionate, and empathetic. I never felt rushed out of the office. Over the course of 2 months both here and elsewhere I saw a total of 7 lactation consultants. NONE of them suggested checking flange size on my pump (thanks random instagram IBCLC!). These providers also did not suggest other measures that ended up making my nursing/pumping relationship possible, which I find to be a bummer. Now on to the office staff: In June 2023 when we first started coming, I called billing three times, left three voicemails and my calls were never returned. We never got a bill, so I incorrectly assumed we were good to go. Fast forward to November, my recurrent clogged ducts and we returned. I got a huge bill so I called and thus found out nothing was covered and I owed for all the many visits over the summer. But it is important to note that billing NEVER SENT ME A BILL (until I finally randomly got a call answered this January) I called insurance prior to my first visit, I called PWAL also. Insurance gave me TWO names at the clinic that were covered but when I called PWAL the front desk said it didn't matter, I should see who was first available and proceeded to schedule me with someone not on my insurance list. This was incorrect information and the headache it caused and the financial implications of 300$/visit is a huge bummer. For these reasons I would not recommend PWAL. read more

A few days after childbirth, I enlisted a postpartum doula to help me with issues my baby and I faced with breastfeeding. Although she was able to help, she strongly recommended I have my infant checked out for a tongue tie, and recommended Pacific Wellness & Lactation. The clinic was able to get me in fairly quickly, and they confirmed my baby had a pretty restrictive tongue tie that should probably be revised. They did an excellent job on the revision AND in comforting me as I sobbed--hey, the postpartum hormones are real! While baby's latch improved, I started to develop additional problems with an over abundant milk supply and severely clogged milk ducts. The team at Pacific Wellness coached me on breastfeeding and pumping, provided me with ultrasound treatments and encouragement, and supported me when I ultimately decided I couldn't keep trying to breastfeed with the severe pain the clogged ducts were causing. They helped me dry up my milk supply safely and quickly so I could comfortably hold my baby and be the mom she needed. At no point did I feel judged or pressured about my choices regarding my baby's health or breastfeeding. As an older first time mom who felt like she should have her shit together, it was such a relief to work with people who were SO kind and knowledgeable. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone needing help with feeding their baby. read more

I'm leaving a 2 star only because Brianne, the provider who did a tongue and a lip tie release for my child was a very nice and pleasant lady. She also seemed very knowledgeable at the time. However, unfortunately the work was not done correctly, the instructions for post procedure care were not given correctly, and lastly, when we came in for a follow up we were never given the honestness that the releases needed to be done again to solve the problem. Brianne diagnosed my 2 month old who was having difficulty with feeding with both a lip and a tongue tie. We were comfortable with this diagnoses as it was recommended by 2 other providers as well. She did the procedure with giving us the reassurance that the procedure went great. The post-op instructions given to us were for us to do mouth massages for 1-2 weeks after the procedure. I still have this written down on the paper we were sent home with. My baby never benefited from this as the feeding never improved at all. We then went and saw a few other providers who told us the procedures weren't done correctly, or that they had scarred down due to not performing the massages long enough and that we needed to do them again. We went and saw Brianne again and she reassured us that everything was done perfectly and that we had also done a great job with post care. She also said that she wouldn't strongly suggest a repeat. According to the 5 other providers that we saw, not only the continued feeding problem was still due to the ties that were still there, but also the massages needed to be done for 6 weeks instead of 1-2 weeks. In addition, the first time around, the tongue was never released enough. We had this done for my baby again elsewhere. This time the scar immediately looked very different as an efficient amount of tissue was released. Baby's feeding also improved immediately even with the very first feeding about 45 minutes post-op. This caused several major issues in our lives which lead to some stressful times. 1) Baby had to go through the discomfort of the procedure 2 times. 2) Feeding continued to be a major worry and stress for us and she wasn't gaining enough weight. 3) The bill for Brianne's service (after the insurance coverage) turned out to be around $550 and our insurance unfortunately did not cover the procedure again for a second time in a short period of time which cost us an additional $1200 out of pocket this time to have it done at another facility. I would choose a different facility to have this done to save yourself the headache and the cost, and your baby the chance of having to have this done more than once. read more

I don't even know where to start. As I'm looking back, I am in awe at how bad the care we received at PWL was. First of all, we were rescheduled multiple times, secondly we always felt like everyone was in a hurry to get us out the door, thirdly, I never felt supported and understood in my struggle with breastfeeding, fourthly, it never seemed like they were confident in their "knowledge", and the list could go on. I had to pretty much advocate for them to do a tongue tie release and after it was done, nothing changed so someone recommended another specialist. We went and it was a night and day difference in experience. Full evaluation, very hands on and knowledgeable. Was referred to a pediatric dentist because the tongue tie release was not done correctly and she also had a lip tie, which PWL said that her lip looked great. After seeing the pediatric team I came out of it in awe at how poor the care we received here was. My baby had severe tongue tie. Moderate to severe lip and both cheeks ties. They released all of them and were very involved in showing me the aftercare stretches and exercises and they answered all of my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed and I was constantly in awe with how confident they were in their treatment and knowledge. Seeing the tongue tie procedure results now, I cannot believe how bad the first one was. I wish I never went to PWL as it was one of my most stressful, frustrating experiences in the medical field. And we put my baby through so much by doing a bad, unfinished procedure that had to be redone. Just do yourself a favor and don't even consider this place. I am so upset and I honestly cannot understand why they are highly recommended by some people because I couldn't find one good thing to say about them. read more

I've seen BreAnne and Jen since my baby was brand new. They helped make sure baby had a good latch and I knew all the different nursing positions to make sure I was comfortable as well. They've been there for every single question I've had (not just related to breast feeding but overall newborn questions) and I won't take my little one anywhere else when it comes to issues or concerns with breast feeding. The clinic is clean and cute and I felt safe taking my baby there throughout COVID19. Booking an appointment was easy and I recommend Pacific Wellness and Lactation to all my mom friends! I cannot thank Breann and Jennifer enough for their help with my sons lip tie and latch issues. When I first saw them, I had just started my breastfeeding journey as a first time mom. I was only able to nurse with a nipple shield and they immediately diagnosed a lip tie. It was corrected in one visit but they also gave me exercises and massage techniques to assist. They worked me through being able to get a latch without a shield. After several appointments my son is nursing beautifully and I have confidence in my skills/abilities to keep him happily fed and reaching my breastfeeding goals. I highly recommend! read more

The best experience ever. These women take the time to get to know you, put you at ease, and give you simple plans to successfully feed your baby. After two rounds of antibiotics, I felt a mastitis hit my body for a third time. I knew something was really off, and I needed a second opinion. I booked an appointment with Pacific Wellness and Lactation, Instead of just pushing another antibiotic, BreAnne looked for the cause of the mastitis. She found my daughters tongue and lip tie. Within 12 hours of her frenectomy, my sweet baby had a completely different demeanor, she was calm and full, she was able to feed successfully. BreAnne recommended some vitamins and my body was able to fight the mastitis without third round of antibiotics. Jen helped make a successful feeding schedule. Highly recommend. Outstanding experience throughout, from the reception to the care I received helping my newborn with nursing issues. I was able to get in right away, unlike other providers in the area. The staff was professional, warm, highly skilled, knowledgable, helpful, and I walked away feeling hopeful, empowered, and cared for as a mother. I was looking to get a prescription for a compounded ointment that I desperately needed to heal the tissue as I had trouble nursing my newborn. My midwife's office told me about Pacific Wellness & Lactation and I called to see if I can come in to get a prescription and perhaps have my baby assessed for tongue-tie. It was a Saturday, and the sincere girl on the phone told me that their appointments are booked that day. She later got back to me to answer some other questions I had and also said that they are able to see us during their lunch break if we came before a certain time. We didn't loose a minute and drove over. BreAnne and the rest of the staff were very genuine and kind. BreAnne attentively listened to and answered all the questions and concerns I had and we left the place feeling cared for. They faxed the prescription over to the compounding pharmacy and I was able to get it the same day. Highly recommend this place! read more
