A friend of ours brought us here, and we ordered appetizers that time too. Now though, i DEMAND to come here. I won't eat anywhere else on the peninsula. sometimes there's a wait. It's truly worth waiting for. Fortunately on this occasion, i called ahead to reserve a table, while my friend was getting pulled over by a cop for speeding (I'm lmao, because we were 2 hangry women, and going way too fast down Kenai Spur Road to get to Louie's) so while she's doing the yadda yadda, I'm calling ahead to reserve a table. Fortunately there was lots of availability, so i was told to just come on in. So we get there, starving. I do this self same thing every time. I forget they have GIGANTIC, appetizers. BROBDINGNAGIAN appetizers (google it, it's a great word for you to save for future use) and i forget, so i order 2 Appetizers, and so does she. Then end up being totally floored by the size of the appetizers and not being able to eat them all. This time i got Alaskan Steamer Clams, and Cheesy Bacon Fries, She got Button Mushrooms, and Blackened Prime Bites. 3 of these dishes came with Garlic Bread. Our server came, loaded down with plates, and said I'll be back with the rest. I was presented with, what can only be described as a very large aluminum bucket of Steamer Clams drowning in house nectar, and a vast platter of bacon cheesy fries. I was overcome with performance anxiety about my ability to consume all of this. She was given 2 big dishes - 1 with beautiful looking button mushrooms, the other with Prime Rib Bites. I don't like Prime Rib. But i love mushrooms, so we just Family Styled it all the way, The Steamer Clams were succulent, juicy, tender, and the nectar was absolutely creamy, delicious and savoury. I should have just gotten those. I couldn't resist her mushrooms though, i absolutely love mushrooms. I was only able to manage a couple of bites of my garlic bread. She was being very helpful with my Steamer Clams, and agreed they were delicious. Louie's is a must, if you're on the Peninsula, whether you're a local, or from out of town (We're from Anchorage) or a tourist would absolutely love it in here. There's lots of hunting trophies on the walls. The food is of consistent good quality, though to be honest, I've yet to order an Entree, because i can't even get past the Appetizer menu, and wanting ALLLLLLL the things!! When I see a great deal via email, I always call them to place an order. They always tell me about additional discounts they have on other seafood. This time I saw a great deal for 8 whole filets of the Black Cod fish. So I called and they told me about specials. I got an additional pound of king salmon, halibut, Coon shrimp (a native type!) and a few jars of salmon caviar eggs! I already had the caviar eggs with my breakfast and simply wow. So fresh. I steamed the black cod whole filet with some ginger and wow wow wow. Hubby could not get enough of it! Highly recommend if you need to buy fresh seafood delivered straight to your door. Recommend to watch for email specials and call directly ! My absolute favorite! Could not recommend more highly!

After successful trips to…read moreboth Homer and the Nushagak River, my father and I took our halibut and king salmon to Snug Harbor for processing, storage, and shipment. The folks there stayed open until 8 pm which was extremely important given that our float plane didn't land until after 7:00 pm. The facility is very nice and clean. We requested they hold our fish for seven days before shipping them as we still were going to be in-state and not at home right away. They did that for us at no charge. Just received all three of our shipments as agreed upon. Our fish that we handed to them were the same ones we got back. Tracking info was sent via email as arranged and they even through in some suggested fish storage / cooking methods for us. Top notch customer interaction and I will definitely use them for future trips.

It seems like ever since COVID, getting our fish processed in Kenai has become more challenging. We…read moreunderstand that fish processing is seasonal and good help isn't always easy to find however it just seems like the last 3-4 years of processing has been challenging enough to decide to just go back to doing the processing ourselves next year. Custom, like the other processors in town were honest and let us know right up front that they were very busy and on some days even stopped taking fish after certain times, even telling us one day they couldn't guarantee fish to be ready in less than 72 hours. We worked around their policy and availability and dropped off our catch. Like most anglers, we filleted our fish prior to bring it into Custom for sealing, freezing and boxing. We gave them our departure date and being we were flying out early morning, we were told we could pick up our fish the evening prior at 7pm. When we arrived to pick up our fish at the agreed time we were told that all the people who handled our fish had already gone home for the day. We argued that we were following their pick-up direction and one of their employees heard our concern stepped up and said she would help us with our order. After about 15 minutes some of our boxes of fish were boxed and ready to ship. After all that and getting our boxes of fish home is when our real problem began. When we arrived home and started dividing up our salmon and halibut it was very obvious that this was not the fillets that we dropped off. Both the halibut and salmon fillets were much smaller fillets than the fillets we dropped off. From that it appeared that we received someone else's fish and someone else got our nicer, bigger fillets. Both the halibut and salmon fillets we received were much thinner and smaller portion than the fish we dropped off and it was disappointing enough to just say "for the price we paid to end up with someone else's fish, forget it, we'll do it ourselves next year". Whatever their reason is whether their processors are short handed, over committed or maybe they just put everyones fillets in a general fund and when you come to pick up your 50 pounds, you get what they give you out of the stock? The fillets that we dropped off for processing look just like the ones on their webpage, but the ones we brought home weren't even close. Going forward, we'll do it ourselves to guarantee we go home with the fish we caught.

She was angry with a customer on the phone when we arrived. Then she pretty look down on my friend and I - even before we utter a word (while she is on the phone). When we asked about the pricing, she just told us (again in angry tone) to come out with her with the cart. Then upon weighting the fishes we have, she was like "do you really want to pay that. much to ship when you are paying for 10lb?" I understand she is trying to be reasonable, but her tone make it sounds like our business is too little for her time. the shipment was fast and arrive just as expected - which save me from rating this a one star. When reminded I fly out friday and was already promised friday would not be a problem, they didnt care - said we cant do it. Ended up mixing the new filets in with the processed filets then vacuum pack them myself after getting back home. We had the clam chowder, the sandwich of the day, and I purchased several breakfast cookies to bring back to Texas. The clam chowder was exceptional, it was so fresh and full of seafood. The pesto sandwich was delicious, and the leftovers were even better. The breakfast cookies are also sold at a local coffee shop, I had one every morning with my tea. Yeah, they're that delicious and they're vegan! If you live or are visiting that area, this is one you want to add to your list. When a business thinks they can't do any better because they're perfect and uses excuses instead of accountability for their lack of service, they're in trouble. This is my first experience with the new owner so maybe she needs to be reminded that the customer is always right.
