I'm ashamed to sa that I visited here for the first time this Sunday. Ashamed because I am originally from Birkenhead and it has built up a reputation for excellent music and events in a relatively short time.
I narrowly missed Peter Green's Splinter Group here on their first ever tour (I did get to meet him later on in Warrington) and have missed a number of beer festivals here due to poor timing on my part.
On Sunday, m wife and I were lucky enough to be donated a pair of tickets to the last show of the Saw Doctors mini-tour - a band we have followed for a long time now.
The venue was perfect.
It only holds a couple of hundred (standing) audience, but caters well for all who come. The bar is extremely well run and has, among the usual keg beers and lager, Timothy Taylor's Landlord - currently at £2.50 a pint!
The staff are very competent, welcoming and helpful and all facilities are extremely impressive. Please be warned, though, as I said earlier, there is no seating at all. read more
