The freshly squeezed Orange juice definitely keeps us coming back too, I never dont order a cup when I'm here! Not just that, but the massive breakfast portions are definitely something to write home about! I love their biscuits and gravy with spicy sausage, sausage is made in-house. The plate is massive and comes with eggs and hash browns/country potatoes. I get it with the country potatoes cooked well done- love it! Splash on some of their Black Bear chipotle hot house, and yes ma'am you are set! My husband has been on the beef dip sandwich lately which comes with a rich and savory au jus sauce and the bread for the sandwich is literally garlic bread, so yumm. Even my son asks for half after hes done with his plate of pancakes. Overall this place is a winner for the family experience and worth the wait for us, every time!

The wife and I were heading up to Portland for the weekend and needed a room. Everything in…read morePortland/Vancouver (and vicinity) was at a minumum of $60 or so a night -- and this includes Motel 6, Travelodge, EconoLodge, and the like. A Google search of Vancouver motels turned this one up. Google user reviews showed several four-star reviews, and with a reasonable price of $40 for the night, we gave it a shot. As for the room, well, not the greatest, but you're not really expecting a whole lot for $40. The bed was clean, the sheets were laundered, and the place wasn't crawling with cockroaches. The bathroom was surprisingly clean as well. Cons: a seriously undersized toilet. Not kidding. I mean, the toilet in this room felt like it was made for midgets. The chairs in the room could've used cleaning, but it's not like we were sitting naked on these things anyway, so it wasn't a huge deal. The room was clearly an older one, with a very loud mini-fridge, and an older AC unit. Despite the age, those appliances worked just fine. Location-wise, it's right smack dab in an area with a number of other hotels (Comfort Inn, Motel 6, Extended Stay and others) so it's not in the middle of a deserted, desolate area or anything. And just across the street on Mill Plain is a large strip mall with lots of places to eat -- we skipped on those and headed straight back into Portland for breakfast. Obviously not a five-star luxury room, but for $40, it's hard to beat. The room was clean, the place was quiet, and it was very easy to find.

First of all, the drive into the town was gorgeous and scenic. What a restaurant with a view! Easy parking and plenty of seating on the inside. Second, the staff were incredible. From the moment we walked in, the young lady taking our order was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with our questions as non-locals. Another co-worker was helpful in helping us to get seated and bringing out food/drinks. Wonderful service, thank you! Third, the food was AMAZING! Everything we ate was fresh, hearty, and so flavorful. We shared a cup of clam chowder and it was so creamy and delicious. My husband got the fish and chips with the Cajun seasoning and it was so scrumptious! And very filling! I got the smoked salmon po'boy and it was so decadent. I loved every bite and walked away stuffed! And, on top of it all, prices were so reasonable for such fresh fish and ingredients! If we are ever in the area again, we are going to be sure to stop by Brigham Fish Market. It is worth every minute of the drive, every dollar, and every bite! Thanks for an amazing lunch!

Sometimes you feel like a nut ... and sometimes you just want to eat nuts…read more NWNut is a local Vancouver, Portland, and regional farmers market regular. If you like your nuts freshly roasted and fragrant, then you'll love NWNut's almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, and pecans. This is the shop. It's more of a workshed than a store because this is were the local northwest nuts are roasted in small batches. It's also where you can buy them. I drive by regularly and hours seem to vary depending on the season, but they advertise 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We popped in and were greeted by the friendliest of ladies. If she isn't the owner then she should be. She was totally helpful and professional. The selection was limited that day, but it was impossible not to buy a few bags. In addition to roasted nuts, NWNut has nuts covered with white chocolate, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate. They also had a small offering of other foods, too. Christmas with Santa seems to be the peak season for roasted nuts and for NWNut. Check out their calendar for days & times with free photo opportunities and meetings with Santa. Obviously, NWNut is nuts about nuts ... and why not, nuts are healthy and taste amazing when fresh-roasted.

The market is well-stocked with unique shelf items from around the world-- pastas, jams/jellies, biscuits, oils, vinegars, tinned fish, and legumes. They have a vast deli case with meats, cheeses, and prepared items. The meat and fish counter is magazine-worthy and they feature some hot-food specials using meats and sausages from their counter. The wine selection is expansive-- we even saw a few bottles from the Loire region of France which we had the great fortune decades ago to visit family friends. It was the produce area that really made my heart sing and my eyes bug out. The produce section is colorful, artfully arranged. I could practically feel the antioxidants beaming into my body! I have never seen SO many varieties of alliums in my life. They had four different types of "green onion" (scallion, green garlic, calçot, and red spring onion), plus mahoosive leeks. We had a great experience with service which was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Since we were out and about doing other things we didn't get anything that required refrigeration like cheese, meats or produce, but we did have sandwiches from the deli case which were tasty. I look forward to going back for some of the produce and cheeses.
