The management company of the Pacific Guardian Life building, on Keeamoku and Kapiolani, could probably have done better in choosing their security staff.
We had the misfortune of having been witnesses to a confrontation between a 60ish-year-old security officer, a slight mustache on his lip, and a gentleman who was minding his own business sitting on a nearby bench, eating pastry that he'd probably bought at the bakery in that building.
We weren't sure about what kind of a transgression would have prompted the words that came out of the security officer's mouth, but we were actually frightened by his behavior. We were shocked at the way in which the officer first verbally abused, then bullied this man for apparently having one foot touching some ground cover near the bench. The officer appeared to be deliberately provoking the man.
Our first impression was that either the security officer was having a bad day, or he was mentally unstable.
Is this all that Pacific Guardian can afford?
We were going to try the bakery there, but we went elsewhere after that.
We know that there is a school in that building and we, quite frankly, are a little concerned for the young adults that will no doubt dross paths with this individual. read more
