I've never felt rushed or that my appointment is on a timer. The five of us (husband & three kids) all love her! Clear Vision has the best choices for eye wear whether you have a small budget or looking for high-end frames. Long version: My family and I have been going to Clear Vision for three years now. I really appreciate Dr. Southaphanh allowing me to have back to back appointments for my children. She is very professional but never cold. She's personable & detail oriented. I've worn glasses since a very young age but have never had such a thorough eye exam! Last year during my middle daughter's appointment, Dr. Southaphanh showed me images of the back of her retinas. She was a little concerned about a few tiny yellow spots and explained that it may be a sign of Juvenile Macular Degeneration. Dr. S recommended a second opinion by an eye specialist. I knew nothing about JMD so I asked lots of questions but Dr. S kept me calm (it's pretty scary to think your child could go blind) and answered every question so I fully understood. After taking extra time for Q&A, she then took it upon herself to personally call our health insurance to check in-network eye specialists and then personally called the specialist's office to request an appointment. I have never had a doctor of any type go to such lengths! We left that day and although I was anxious about my daughter's eyes I kept thinking how much Dr. S. truly cares about her patients. This year -a few weeks ago- my youngest daughter who is three years old had her first eye exam. She can be a little shy and I was a little worried she wouldn't be able to sit still for the exam. Dr. S. was great as usual. She is a parent herself and knew just how to keep my three year old engaged. If you're looking for a new eye doctor, I highly recommend you see Dr. Southaphanh. You won't be disappointed, in fact you'll realize SHE sets the standard for eye care!

They processed an authorization with my insurance before my visit, so all I had to worry about day of was my co-pay. Even though I had an appointment, I was waiting over a half hour to be seen, which was a bit frustrating but I understand delays can happen. Getting a call in advance would have been nice, though, as I was missing work trying to make this appt. Dr. David Bowin was great! He didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need. However, when I showed up for my appointment, I was told I had to take a mandatory retinol eye exam in order for the doctor to see me. There was no prior mention of this charge when I made the appointment, and it felt misleading and frustrating. I agreed to it reluctantly because I had already waited so long for my appointment, and I needed my eye exam. During the exam, the doctor and I discussed contacts and he recommended I stay on them since glasses tend to make me dizzy. He checked my eyes and told me my prescription hadn't changed. I left with my prescription and assumed everything was fine. Fast forward 6 months, and I realized I couldn't find my prescription. I called to ask if they hey could simply print me a new one, only to be told that I never had a contact lense exam, which was an additional charge. They also told me that I'd need to redo my full eye exam (which is only covered by insurance) to get the prescription, and that would cost upwards of $150. I was confused especially since I specifically talked to the doctor about my contacts during my appointment, and he told me that my prescription hadn't changed. I also felt blindsided by the additional costs. To make matters worse, when I called my insurance company, they confirmed that retinol eye exams should be optional, not mandatory, and this offices policy seemed unusual. When I explained this to the receptionist, she was incredibly rude, and honestly I ended up crying. I've never felt so disrespected and confused by a healthcare provider. This was the most disorganized and uncaring experience I had at an eye doctor's office. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I regret going here.

I originally chose this practice because it was conveniently located inside Costco and the hours were so user-friendly. But after seeing Dr. Balete, the convenience is just a bonus. I would follow and visit this particular OD to an eye clinic located in the basement of the DMV on the last Friday before a three-day weekend. Absolutely wonderful experience.
