As a parent, there's nothing more painful than realizing that the place you trusted to care for and…read morenurture your child actually harmed her. My daughter attended Open Valleys Academy when she was just a toddler, and to this day--now 8 years old--she still talks about the trauma she experienced there. One of the most upsetting incidents involved a teacher named Luz, who was aggressive and rough with the children. My daughter was picked up by the ear--an absolutely unacceptable and abusive act. When I brought this to the attention of the principal, Cristina, she acted as if it was just a "misunderstanding" and brushed it off. There was no accountability, no investigation, no concern. Just excuses. My daughter cried almost every morning before going to that place, and at the time, I didn't understand why. I thought it was normal separation anxiety. I had no idea she was enduring such mistreatment. One day, at only 3 years old, she tried repeatedly to ask the teacher to let her use the restroom. The teacher ignored her, too "busy" to care. My daughter ended up wetting herself. Instead of compassion or understanding, the teacher humiliated her--putting a diaper on her and placing her in the baby room for the rest of the day. That act alone traumatized her. Open Valleys Academy failed my child in the most fundamental way. They did not protect her. They did not care for her. They silenced and ignored her. And the administration, especially Cristina, chose to look the other way rather than confront the cruelty happening under their own roof. No child should have to go through what my daughter went through. No parent should have to live with the guilt of unknowingly sending their child into a harmful environment. Please--if you're considering this school, look deeper. Listen to your child. Trust your gut. I wish I had.

Our child is in kindergarten now, and she still attends OV for after care. OV is an absolutely exceptional school and we never want to leave! The school is located on the second floor with secured entry, which made us feel very comfortable. As soon as you enter the facilities, you'll notice the comfortable relaxing atmosphere and music. The children are bright-eyed and happy, but not wired/hyper. There's order, and no madness. We even love the smell of the school! The staff is unwaveringly caring, loving, and warm. We've had and continue to have great experiences with the director: Ms. Anais, teachers: Ms. Marjorie, Ms. Cris, Ms. Kathy, Ms. Milli, Ms. Carla, Ms. Betsy, Ms. Zoe, Ms. Andrea, and the front office personnel: Ms. Lili and Ms. Barbie. The thoughtful events the staff puts together for both children, parents and family are so wonderful, so special, and memorable. They document all their events with pictures throughout the year, and even a year book at the end of the year, so you'll have plenty of great memories to look back on. The school's decorations change almost weekly which allow the children and their families to experience and welcome diversity, and feel excitement for holidays and other special occasions. My child was reading, and ahead of her class when it came time for kindergarten. She was even student of the month! The children not only learn academically, they learn to be kind, and to help and care for others. They learn to respect their environment, and keep their areas and spaces clean and neat. They encourage the children to wash their hands frequently and not spread germs. They get outdoors time twice a day in the school's private playground. We have a new addition to our family on the way and we can say with absolute certainty that she will also be attending Open Valley Academy. This school is a gem!

His teacher Ms Gerly - I think about her and get emotional. What a sweet lady! My son couldn't of gotten a better teacher. She was so wonderful! Even though the school abides by Florida standards in regards to ratio I still think it's too much to have eleven 2 year olds for one teacher. For the price tag it would be nice for the teacher to have an assistant. My child was always safe here. And I haven't even started on their very robust curriculum. It was meticulously thought out and aligned with the five senses. Unlike anything I've ever seen elsewhere it is a solid and thoughtful curriculum and unleashes creativity in our kids. I highly recommend this school to any parent that is considering a daycare center.

Formal Complaint Against KLA Pembroke Pines Address: 18055…read moreNW 8th St, Pembroke Pines, FL 33029 I feel compelled to warn every parent: KLA Pembroke Pines is not a safe or appropriate environment for any child. Sending your son or daughter here is a disservice to them and a betrayal of your duty as a parent. The lead teacher and her assistants demonstrate outright disdain for the children entrusted to their care. I personally observed the lead teacher frequently absorbed in her phone, visibly frustrated, audibly sighing, and openly complaining that she could no longer tolerate the classroom. On one occasion, she even told my child's shadow that the class was "hell" and that she "couldn't take it anymore." Such language is appalling and utterly unprofessional. My son, only three years old, attended this school with a shadow. What she reported was alarming: children left unsupervised, running in circles without direction, crying and being ignored, while staff remained glued to their phones. There was no structure, no leadership, and no genuine care. The most degrading incident occurred when I dropped my son off at 8:30 a.m. I overheard the teacher loudly tell another staff member, "This is the sick boy with problems." My child was publicly labeled and ridiculed by the very person paid to nurture and protect him. I was stunned into silence. When I picked him up later that same day, he reeked of urine. His pants were dry, but his socks and shoes were soaked, and not a single one of the three spare outfits I had provided had been used. This was not an accident--it was negligence. To make matters worse, I found the teacher outside, holding another crying child by the arms like an object, while laughing and chatting with a colleague. This was not only cruel but a clear act of mistreatment. When I attempted to escalate my concerns to the school director, I was met with arrogance, indifference, and blatant disregard. Instead of showing concern or accountability, she dismissed me with a condescending attitude, as if my child's suffering and my legitimate complaints were an inconvenience to her. Her reaction confirmed what I had already witnessed: at this school, children are not valued as human beings -- they are reduced to dollar signs. KLA Pembroke Pines has demonstrated a pattern of neglect, cruelty, and gross unprofessionalism that places children at risk. No child deserves to be humiliated, ignored, mishandled, or treated as a burden. Parents deserve to know the truth before entrusting this institution with their children.

I later discovered that my child had been placed in a bathroom area behind a gate and separated from other children for a significant portion of the day without my knowledge. Since these incidents, my child has shown fear, crying, and reluctance to return to daycare. During a later meeting, I was informed that a teacher had recorded a video of my child on a personal phone, which had not been disclosed to us beforehand. When I raised these concerns with management, I felt dismissed and the interaction came across as unprofessional. I was told that my child "doesn't sit down," which raised additional concerns about how her needs were being handled. Based on my experience, I am concerned about supervision, communication with parents, and how my child was managed when she appeared to need additional support. I encourage parents to ask detailed questions about supervision, safety, and how situations are handled throughout the day.
