The 307 Harlem bus is so bad it's almost legendary. On several occasions I have given up and Uber'd. More than an hour wait with up to 6 "ghost" buses on the tracking app. I only take it when there is no other choice. It's been that way for years and no one ever has an answer. read more

I boarded #353 on Cottage Grove and Riverview. Everything was fine until passengers boarded in Dolton or Riverdale near Indiana Ave. OMG. A young lady got on whose son would not sit down. A older female who apparently rode on the bus with them before immediately started to verbally assault the kid with the worst foul language imaginable. The kids mom stayed quiet. While this overgrown bully cursed her 3 year old son and threatened to sit him down. The driver said nothing . I boarded this bus at 9:01 am. in South Holland on Tuesday May 27, 2025. Their app sucks and is always off. It's not the driver's fault. It's a faulty GPS. I spent most of my week waiting for buses that were 'Due' then never shown up, then would appear when it wasn't scheduled for another 20 minutes. This led to me completely missing a dinner with my friends on that Sunday. I also got into an accident on Saturday 2 hours before my flight back home. Some idiot ran a red light and the bus T-boned them coming out of the Oakbrook mall. Not the driver's fault, but he was a great man and handled the situation well. read more

The most terrible service ever. You can never rely on the schedule anymore. The 301 never ever ever runs on time and it skips half of its scheduled services. I never learned how to take a bus in my life and I needed transportation for work. I refuse to rent a car for my personal reasons and let this be known I made that decision in negative 5 degree Chicago weather. I just learned the routes so I know what to take so I know what time I can be picked up via carpool. I can't be mad if there 5 minutes late but in that 2 weeks I've come to love Pace and wish i've used it more growing up to get to where I wanted. There's so many interesting bus routes and it's a great way to go out and explore. I've taken alot of buses in my 2 weeks such as: 379,832,384,222 and the 386. I'd like to take the 895 because it's $2 to go from Oak Lawn to Schaumburg*. Nobody on Uber got time for that! Always know your routes and be patient. I just wish there was better service days, times and dates. Definitely going to be a lifelong customer. read more

I was riding the 552 two days ago. As we were about to approach the terminal, I noticed a huge cockroach crawling on the wall behind the handicap seating area.. I went to alert the driver who was not at all phased by the incident. He proceeded to tell me that most of the old buses were infested with cockroaches.. 379 is the worse bus. Cancelations left and right. No call no shows. High turnover ratio. Sometimes you have to wait over 2.5 hours because they keep canceling. Some busses are FILTHY, ringers are broken, brake fluid lights are always on, etc. They need to take notes from CTA because they are BY FAR worse than them. Sometimes it depends on management. If I'm on time for my job, why can't they? Hire better workers and fix your system. Do better. read more

EVERY Pace Bus (Specifically the 208, 209, 250, and 234 buses) is the WORST form of public transportation! For example, the 208 Westbound Bus, arrives at Oakton College 3 minutes early at 12:30 pm, only for them to wait TWENTY MINUTES just to wait for another bus driver. Switching bus drivers for the pace bus is NOT NECESSARY! I asked the driver when are we going to leave and he told me to "sit back down!" You can show up early, but you can't leave until about twenty minutes later?! NOT COOL! Finally, after fifteen minutes of waiting, I got off the bus because I couldn't stand waiting any longer. Two minutes later, it leaves. I ordered an Uber instead. The 209/234 Bus, THEY ARE ALWAYS FIFTEEN MINUTES LATE FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER! The bus driver didn't apologize for the late arrival. And now, the 250 bus, I waited for TWENTY MINUTES in the FREEZING cold because that bus DID NOT show up! The weather was brutal, and I kept sneezing because of the cold. Luckily, the 226 bus came, and I got on there instead. Another thing, a rude passenger stared at me as she was getting off the bus, and said that I was the rude one WHEN I WAS NOT! This is a couple of weeks late but I have to write a great review for the drivers at Pace, route 213. My partner and I who never go to the suburbs- got really wrong google map info somehow and ended up at the Northbrook shopping center instead of Central street in Wilmette. We got off and the bus driver put us on the bus going back- and instructed the driver as to where we were going. The fact that he took the time and they made sure we got off at the right spot really helped us after a long and confusing ride. Thank you! read more

Pace van wakes my wife and I up every morning between 5:00 am and 5:30 am. I spoke with the driver this morning and she told me that is how the customer wants to be notified that she is waiting for them. So, to make one customer happy, she moves forward and backward in the van so that the van beeps. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I have one of those knee scooters because I had broken my ankle and asked if it's okay to put on the bus.. driver kinda looked at me funny and told me "yeah but I'll have to store it" I said great "can you help me with it?" This driver just stares at me for a couple moments until I just grab the scooter and hobble onto the bus and store the scooter myself. I don't ask for much but it would've been nice just even helping me get on the bus especially when I asked. read more

Pace is a great convienince for me if I need it. Sometimes I just don;t feel like driving to work or dealing with traffic. I have two bus lines within a mile from me and they will take me to either the Red or Orange lines depending on where I am going. I would not want to have to rely on Pace every day. In non-peak hours the busses run only about once an hour and during peak hours, the run about one every half hour. You really have to plan your trip carefully because if ou miss your bus, you are screwed. When you have snowstorms they tend to run really late and i don't blame Pace for this one. For the most part, snow removal in the burbs on major streets is not even close to what is done in the city of Chicago. This slows EVERYONE down, Pace busses included. I blame the municipalities in those cases. I would rather be safe and late then dead in a flipped over Pace bus. Planning a trip from burb to burb on Pace can be a challenge and can take a long time but it can be done. The busses are in pretty good shape though and decently comfortable. They always do the trick when I do need to ride the Pace bus. read more

My experience is solely based on regularly taking the #690 route to and from a Metra station in my suburban warfare known as my morning and evening commute. If the #690 were a girlfriend or friend, I'd dump it. While it can be counted on sometimes, when I really am in need, it's noticeably absent. Unfortunately, it's a necessary evil in my life. The only thing keeping me from dropping this to a 1-star review is the morning half of my commute goes nearly seamlessly. I step off the Metra and the #690 bus is at the station and waiting for me to board. Perfect. It's the ride home that makes my life miserable. I've waited for buses that were over a half hour late, or more recently, stuck in terrible snow storms (yes, plural!) waiting for buses that never arrive. Pace would be a convenient option if it were reliable. It makes the CTA #22 bus look like it's on schedule every day. Pace, I wish I could quit you now. read more

I am now taking the Pace bus to work, and I am miserable. Metra!, I miss you! The bus itself is fine: clean and warm, although never consistent schedule-wise. The problem is the passengers--from the dumb (literally--conversations that make you grind your teeth) teenage Notre Dame boys to the fat, fat ladies who insist on squeezing into the seat next to me and almost knocking my teeth out with their elbows! Pace can be anywhere btween 1-5 stars depending on: a) The route b) The driver c) The time Often not consistent with the schedule (and it really bugs me when they show up a few minutes early and another one doesn't come for a while), but most of the drivers are nice, helpful, and sometimes just downright cool. Occasionally you get an idiot though. A lot of the people who ride are rude, smelly, loud, or just damn annoying. May not always be on time depending on traffic conditions and buses getting caught by freight trains thanks to street level railroads, but Pace is consistently on time, clean, safe, and reliable. Much better than CTA buses that's for sure in many more ways than one. One thing I don't like about Pace is the fact that there are so many routes that are short such as 308 and the 357 which I use to take. Another thing being that not all routes run when they should on weeldays and on weekends, two things that CTA looks to have corrected a long time ago.
