I am the parent of 4th grader in San Francisco. I visited the office in 1/2011 and enrolled for one month becasue one parent in gymnastic class recommended to us- I knew later that she got discount from introduce new student in . My daughter need help in writing, not homework, grammar or math. I spoke with Jason (director) that I want him to focus on writing with her. It worked well for the first 4 weeks. I decided to enroll for one year for 2 hours a week. At that time, they are 1,6,12 months rate and the monthly rate was extreamly expensive since they want you to enroll a year. Few weeks later, Jason was moved to other center and my daughter was with other teacher. We went through 5-6 teachers in 11 months, half of them are public high school student, not the Lowell High. One of them was SFSU graduate but he stayed for 3 weeks. My daughter would spend 2 hours write one page of story and got few correction from the teacher by adding " a, the, -ed, with" etc to her story with those teacher. No major correction was made. Sometime, she will have to do multiple choice questions and get to check-how many questions were right or wrong-again without explanation. That would easily be done at home. Jason would come in and teach once in a while. He is a good teacher if you lucky to have him but not those part-time high school or college student teacher. My daughter have advanced in STAR test both Eng and math from 2nd,3rd,4th grade so those 2 hours time at PACE are waste of my money, her time and boring. I end upstop going at 11 months even we paid for a year. We were not going because she can do more at home. At the end of our visit 3/2012, they have month to month rate that was more reasonable but I would think 5 times before recommending someone in there. I have 3rd grader which learn how to write but we definitly will not go there. They could be useful for kids who need help in homework because parents cannot help. Other than that, it's not useful. read more
