I like the coffee here a lot. Highly recommended! Come here for coffee and a simple, quick bite. Menu is limited but food was tasty. They use really good quality sourdough bread in their sandwiches. They open early for breakfast at 6am so that was very handy for workers catching the train.

Pablo & Rusty's has all you want in a cafe and more. They seriously know their stuff when it comes to coffee. According to one of my mates, it's their single origin coffee beans that make a world of difference. For those of you that may not know, single origin means the coffee beans come from the one place as opposed to sourcing them from a mix of places - this gives the coffee a distinct flavour. Step across the road from Gordon station and you'll find this Pablo & Rusty's is always packed to the brim, full of regulars chilling for their afternoon catch up. The staff here are young, good looking, and most importantly, attentive to your coffee needs. They have a small seating area outside which is on a reasonably quiet corner (most of the traffic comes from pedestrians leaving the station), which is a good idea considering the inside can get quite packed some times.

I've already declared my undying love to Pablo & Rusty (http://www.yelp.com.au/biz/pablo-and-rustys-lane-cove#hrid:3qWaU_IxhMqGGhpOBO0jAg) so it should come as no surprise that I wish to wax lyrical about this Gordon store. Firstly the baristas deal a mean trade. Sure they're all young and beautiful hipster types, but don't go judging a barista by his tats and tight jeans: these guys know exactly what they're doing. Today's trip to Pablo & Rusty's was ostensibly to buy a bag of coffee beans (Yes, I'm that addicted. Plus $35 gets you 1kg and a free coffee!). But then I spied the chicken, caramelised onion and pumpkin sandwich ($8.50 on Sonoma bread - swoon!) and I decided I'd stick around for lunch. Chatting to the staff while my sandwich was heated up, I was pleased to see them disassemble the sandwich to toast (i.e. the spinach leaves came off so they wouldn't go limp under the grill). That kind of attention to detail is definitely a cut above the rest. Sinking my teeth into this luscious sandwich, I couldn't believe this was my first time actually eating at Pablo & Rusty's. Now I can see why people hang out here all afternoon - from the school kids to the flannel wearing uni-students, punctuated by caffeine desperate business types - it turns out I'm not the only one to fall for this coffee shop. You see, they had me at Pablo.

Solidly good coffee, good quality food, decent service. One of the few places making decent coffee on the North Shore.

Being opposite the train station and Gordon's favourite, the copper pan with its overcrowded masses, Pablo handles very well.

If you have followed these directions correctly, you'll have a park on your left, and in front of you, a nice little cafe filled with locals. Now I am not saying this is a cafe I would travel hours to try, but they do make a damm good cup of coffee. Having had A LOT of coffee over the past few weeks, I have grown to appreciate even more than before cafes that are proud of their coffee. These guys are well within their rights to be. Perfect amount of milk. Perfect amount of froth. But more than then, they also got a really nice crema. *Thumbs up* So if you are in the area, and are in need of a coffee, jump off the train (no ticket gates here so you can jump back on once you are done), find this cafe, and chill out. Popped across from Marion Street Theatre where my three kids and I were enjoying a 5th bday party and stage play at interval, simple order... young counter attendant unable to remember then pulls face when i correct him to the right order. received 'toasted' banana bread to the aroma of burnt toast. Returned it and asked for one not burnt only to be told that i should have asked for lightly toasted!! I put forward my complaint of poor service only to be yelled at by the Asian lady out back, mind you who has burnt the bread, that I was a BAD customer... albeit a paying one none the less hey lady!! Concluding the short but not pleasant visit the older male whoppeared to be in charge of the place, that I was in a hurry and that was the problem... so much of a hurry I was that I was willing to wait around for another piece to be cooked properly!! This business gives customer service workers as I am, a bad name and would recommend to anyone attending Marion Street Theatre that u give it a wide berth. jo

Constructed on the far left hand corner at the bottom of the escalators at Chatswood Interchange, it's difficult to miss as you can see the steam rising from Barista magic at work. It's busy, in a worker bee sense. People come and go clutching coffee, whilst 3 artisans work their craft. I rolled in here with my two elderly companions on Wednesday post lunch, and we were drawn to the little padded seats at the back, which also opens through to the other side. Ordering, then taking a seat, our talking point became the shelves in front of us with coffee and train paraphernalia. I grabbed the HONY book on display and attempted to explain the concept to the ex-journalist at my right. The book (from 2010) unfortunately contains only the images and captions, not the stories that we have all seen on Facebook, but I think she got what I meant. Soon after, the coffees arrived. Soy Latte. Flat White. Cappuccino. Our cappuccino drinker said the flavour was lovely but she wanted it "hotter". The flat white drinker remarked in earnest tones that it was wonderful. I just drank mine and smiled. Yes it was damn good. One of the best Soy Latte's I've had. No bitterness. A smooth, flavourful brew with some complexity to delight my tastebuds. Isn't "winning your loyalty" an interesting concept. When I stroll through Chatswood next I would find myself hard pressed to try another coffee place, and there are many... If I did try another coffee place, I'd feel like I was cheating on TSE. That's what winning your loyalty is all about.

I also get stuck making it for the rest of the family (especially D2) because they claim they cant make it like I do. Yeah right. Every weekend or so I head over to Siboni's to get a bag of their "Cordon Bleu" blend. I say "their" because the first thing you see when you walk in is a whopping great roaster with pipes going everywhere and a tray full of the most amazingly aromatic beans being spun round and cooled by a contraption that looks like it could make bodies disappear. Its now on its second owner but the Cordon Bleu is always the same and always great. I've tried beans from Joe Black (5 Senses) Corduroy (Little Marionette) Toby's, peaberrys, Jamaican Blue, Sumatran, Ethiopian, Indian Monsoon, single origin, beans that have been through an Indonesian cat and they are all really great. Its just that I think I've grown accustomed to Siboni's - "Sibs" as its known round these parts, and we have a history. The hours are from the 60's - closed on Sundays and at other odd times. The bloke can be a bit taciturn but the lady is so friendly and helpful. Many a time they've stayed open for 5 extra minutes for me when I forget to grab a bag and only remember just as they are about to shut up. They also have a great range of coffee machines and they make a brilliant coffee if you're up that way. They even have my little Saeco - tucked up the back behind all the glamorous show ponies, bet they won't still be going strong having made a cup of coffee every day for 17 years. ...alright... I haven't had beans that have popped out the ding of an Indonesian cat, but only because I haven't found the shop yet.
