Of course, he needed much more patience with me, but he never once made me feel like I just wasn't getting it (vision and depth problem). My husband, on the other hand, did great! Lou explained everything in terms we were able to understand as new gun owners. We both took away a LOT from today's session. A most enjoyable experience, and we highly recommend Lou as an instructor.

If I could give a review with negative 5 stars, I would…read more I tried to purchase a rifle there, and was treated HORRIBLY. Eventually, I did discuss it with the owner, Rex, who assured me that I would be treated better. He even put me in direct contact with a manager there to deal with... so I gave it a second chance and purchased the rifle. As a 'thank you' and a 'sorry you were treated that way', they gave me and my friend (who also bought a rifle) some give cards for range time. Each card was supposed to have two trips. When I went in and tried to use my card, they rang up the range etc, and then kept the card. So I tried to explain that it was for two range visits and explained to the manager what happened previously. He even remembered what happened, and acknowledged that I was given the extras, but doubled down and said "no, you're only getting one trip to range time" and basically dared me to report to Rex. So I tried. I notified Rex via text message that I was again treated terribly,. He was away on vacation and told me that he would address it when he got back. I never heard from him. The other reviews are right. It is a nice place and clean ranges.... BUT... the customer service can be the worst you've ever seen, and the prices are high. Now I can see paying higher prices for a nice place with excellent customer service... but customer service can be as important as the product you buy... and if you're getting service as bad as this place gives... then you're paying way too high a price. I've seen Rex respond to reviews, and in those responses he states that he wishes they would reach out to mgmnt first before posting bad reviews.... but what about when you reach out to the owner (Rex) directly and he doesn't respond? Well, then, the review is warranted. I tried to give it a second chance, but when you're treated badly... and then the second chance is just as bad or worse... what then?

I am an LTC holder and I took this course with my sister who had never held a handgun before. We both came away feeling it was afternoon well spent. My sister learned enough to feel comfortable at the range and go for her LTC and I feel more confident with my firearm. Both instructors have vast defensive knowledge and are eager to help you feel confident in defending yourself and your loved ones. They provide an enormous amount of information, well balanced with a good sense of humor and plenty of practice. Ask questions because they have good answers and most importantly have fun and learn.

If you want to learn it properly, go to Mike!…read more I am new to Texas and new to firearms. After being on the range a couple of times I was bitten by the bug and knew I was on my way to becoming an enthusiast. I wanted to learn the critical safety rules, basic shooting fundamentals, and what is required to be a responsible gun owner, and I wanted to learn from the best. I also wanted a professional instructor who I can train and skill build with on an on-going basis. I researched heavily and found Mike. Mike is an exceptional professional instructor with outstanding communication skills. He's patient, approachable, easy to talk to -- and just a really nice guy! Mike took me to purchase my first pistol to ensure it would fit my hands properly and that I'd feel comfortable using it. Choosing the right gun matters! I spent a full day at the private range completing the NRA basic pistol course with him. It is an excellent foundational course. Mike sets a high bar and instilled confidence in me, the best part was seeing how much I improved over the course of the day. Next up for me with Mike is shot gun and rifle basics, followed by a variety of other tactical and practical shooting classes and closed quarter combat. If you want the best, go to Mike. The country-drive to and from here is beautiful. It's quintessential Texas Hill Country! So when I say hidden, I mean, Jeff or one of his assistants must meet you at the front gate next to FM 1431. From there you'll be escorted up to the training area. You just have to follow Jeff/his assistant up the fire road leading to the grounds. When we met up with him he was driving his UTV. I suggest you drive a vehicle with decent ground clearance on the day of. No need for a 12" suspension lift or anything crazy like that, just ensure you're not driving a low slung vehicle like a sports car during your visit, LOL! Note: The ranch (actually a few ranches) shares a front gate with Hidden Falls Adventure Park. When you arrive at the grounds you'll notice it's next to Jeff's residence. How awesome is that?! Wake up, pour some coffee in a sippy cup, hop on the UTV and shoot a few rounds at some silhouettes or steel before the rooster even sounds the alarm! Wooohoo! I'm not a jealous kind of guy but... Anyhow, yes, Jeff's training was spot on! I won't go into the details. No spoiler alerts here. But like most valuable training you must first learn the basics and fundamentals before the more advanced techniques can be explored. Think of firearms training like a house. If the foundation is less than sturdy, no matter how great the house looks above the foundation, once some rockin' begins, the house will falter. So get the fundamentals mastered to avoid faltering. Besides firearms instruction, he can provide a Texas DPS accredited Texas LTC course. I already had my LTC but my much better half returned to complete the LTC program soon after. BTW: The safety brief and lunch breaks are held in his air conditioned living-room so please be southern-comfort mannered. =) Jeff is a great and patient instructor. That is important especially because folks learn at different paces. Some learn slower than others but that's ok. Heck, I didn't know I was tying my shoelaces incorrectly until I was in my early 30's! No wonder my knots would always come loose, LOL! Have fun y'all but most importantly, be safe!i
