I want to give this place a five star because I LOVE THEIR STUFF! A home decorators paradise at affordable prices. I want everything in the store. I can't give it give 5 stars because they are so RUDE. It's almost laughable because it reminds us of the soup nazis from Seinfeld. You keep going back for more, trying to engage them and your met with aloof disinterest and boredom. The majority of items are not marked and you dread bothering them for a price. SNL could do a skit on these ladies, don't believe me? Go check it out-but maintain your sense of humor. read more

I'm a really big fan of the genre of decor offered at PD's, but like many of the other commenters had to say--the staff is ridiculous to deal with. Very rude. Great location to find gorgeous linen pillows, holiday decor and furniture (definitely on par with a cheaper Pottery Barn, aesthetically), but the women working the store are seemingly always huffy, don't smile and act incredibly put out if you ask for help. Don't bother calling--they don't answer the phone. Nor do they have a web address (what business doesn't have a website in 2014?). My advice is to stop by and see what you find, but don't be surprised if you're treated rudely. read more

I just wanted to recount my experience with the owner of PDs. I spent $1000 in her store and one of the items loaded into my car, by her employee no less, was severely damaged. A piece that I was to hang in my foyer, so not something you can hide. And because she has a final sale policy on everything she was unwilling to exchange or discount. I could understand if I bought the wrong size or color, shame on me. But honestly, a damaged item that I didn't load myself seems like bad business for a customer spending so much at your establishment. Not to mention she didn't contact me for three weeks and only spoke to me because she happened to pick up the phone during one of my many attempts to contact her. Definitely will not be patronizing her store in the future given my experience. read more

this store/space is jam-packed with big pieces of furniture...that are similar to the shabby chic look or a low scale pottery barn....most stuff is country/white/rough looking and getting a deal can be hit or miss. They have weird hours and if you don't know what you are looking for you will not find the building as it is at the back end of town across the railroad tracks and looks just like a big old municipal building....there is no signage....good luck finding your treasure... read more

Purchased a small table. A tip should have been their no returns policy. Once I got it home I noticed one whole side was damaged and filler had been used very liberally. I would say take your time to look everything over really well. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE! I read over the other reviews to understand the history of comments. Normally, I never post a review unless the experience is incredibility positive or horrifically bad. This was the worst customer care I have ever experienced in retail. As others stated below, I have been shopping at PD's for 20 years. I have spent thousands of dollars. I have always loved their eclectic decor. Recently I purchased a lamp. I did ask the salesclerk if the item does not work out could I bring back for an exchange (not a return). I had another option I was considering that was a higher price. She said I could exchange. The item did not work out. Today I drove 30 miles to exchange this lamp for the higher price lamp. To my surprise, they would not let me exchange. Apparently, to do so I would have had to return in 24 hours for exchange. REALLY, 24 hours to exchange! SO, here is the business mind I do not understand...PD's would actually have made more money on the exchange as I was paying a higher price for the other lamp. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE CUSTOMER! With this poor business and customer service approach, they not only lost money on the exchange, but they also lost my business and other people who may read this negative review. I do not understand why you would not take care of a customer's need when the store would benefit also. I do know I will never walk into this store again! read more

My wife has been a customer of PDs for over ten years and has spent a LOT of money in the store. She also recommends it to all her friends. Recently she bought a queen sized blanket for our vacation home . We took it there and opened it and found it was stained. Well we were away about two weeks And when she tried to return it the owner said no because it was open and over two weeks AND she has NEVERTHELESS had a problem with that vendor. I love this place! They sell furniture, linens, and other home decor usually at or below wholesale price. You can find beautiful armoirs that are $600, 300 thread count linen sheet sets for $80, and nice oriental rugs for $100.The people who work there are friendly and helpful. It's located the old train depot in downtown Franklin, close to the antique district so it makes it the perfect stop along the way. It can appear a bit unorganized but that's because they don't spend money on the frills that most business have which is how they keep their overhead down. Just ask and items and prices can be found for you.As mentioned by Leigh they don't accept returns either. So make sure you know you want it when you walk out! While everything in PD's may not always be quite in my price range it is a fabulous place to pick up accessories and lots of ideas. They offer upscale linens, furniture, and gifts. But buyer beware they only will exchange returns. Unless you shop there everyday. I have seen them make exceptions for very valued customers. read more

I loved loved this hole in the wall by the tracks when I first found it. I always found a great little piece or two for home decor at a decent price. Lately, it's mostly been larger furniture pieces and fewer decor items. The prices have increased as well with these furniture items making it more difficult to find that little treasure. I wish they would bring back more smaller decor items like before. read more

Contrary to the reviews on here. The three ladies working there were very friendly to me and my two boys. I don't normally bring my toddler shopping but the day I went in, I did. Happy to report I went there one more time, and the owner Sherry was there. I told her about wanting the bed but not finding anyone to help me. She told me they had one in a king size, had it brought from their new warehouse, had someone help the gentleman I paid to load it up, and gave me a bunch of square pillow inserts to put around it to keep it from scratching. This store has really cute things. .. but something is seriously wrong with the employees. We don't get to come to Franklin very often, and usually we want to bring home what we find. 60% of their stuff is not priced, and don't even bother asking, because they act like you are asking them for a ride to the gas station. Once, I found a singular placemat, and asked if they had 3 more... the girl just stared at me and said, "No, doubt it." And then turned away. Another time I was attempting to checkout, and couldn't find anyone. It was about 15 minutes before closing time. A girl stepped out from the back to lock the door, and saw me standing at the register. She said, "We are closing. .." So I left!! The only reason I even continue to go to this store is because my mom likes to see all the downtown shops. Short version: Cute stuff, decent prices- worst customer service I have EVER experienced. I would've given this store 0 stars, except you have to leave 1 to give a rating. The employees are unbelievably rude and make you feel like you're wasting their time if you ask a question. Almost every item I looked at was "Made in China", so I don't know what the big deal is about this store. I've found much better deals at T.J. Maxx and Kirkland's, and they accept returns if you get the item home and it doesn't work out. Although the prices can be right on some of the furniture their staff is INCREDIBLY rude. I have several friends who have been and commented on the same thing. I also ordered something that came damaged. Upon pick up we noticed it was damaged and since it took several weeks to get it in we had the option of canceling the order and getting our money back. It took nearly a year (yes, you heard me right), to get the refund and several trips out there to find out why it was taking so long because they don't answer their phone. Great stuff but like others have consistently said, the staff is rude and act like you are bothering them if you ask for a price on the unmarked merchandise. I bought a coffee table and asked that it be held until I could come back the next day and pick it up. The employee asked me to write down my name and phone number and then shook her head in disgust when I wrote down two phone numbers where I could be reached. I have been in PDs many times and the staff attitude is always the same, never any recognition that you have bought before, no greeting, act put out to answer a question or even process your purchase. Some interesting home décor things here, but I'm afraid I have to concur with the previous reviewers about the staff. Anyone who has been to PD's knows that the aisles are sometimes very narrow. I was making my way through one of the "bottlenecks" today and the tall young male employee was following behind me. Knowing this, I did not loiter or stop to look at anything as I would have blocked him in. When he passed me (roughly 3-4 seconds after he started following me), he said "Excuuuuuse YOU!" under his breath but plenty loud enough for me to hear. When is this kind of behavior toward a customer EVER acceptable, PD's?! Given the fact that there are plenty of other stores (and on-line sites) that offer the kind of items at PD's, I don't need this kind of treatment so I'm done with this store. read more

Remember the movie "Pretty Woman" where Julia Roberts walks into a boutique on Rodeo Drive? That's how the staff treats you at P.D.'s ....except it doesn't matter how you're dressed! They are consistent. Consistently snobby every time, especially the owner! Don't let their products fool you. Nothing better than TJ Maxx here. They import most everything from other countries and then overprice it big time but somehow try to make you feel like you're getting a great deal by being in Franklin's Antique district. Blah....never going again. I gave it almost 10 tries... tried to be overly nice to the staff and cannot stand them. Go to BARN DOOR next door to them instead! Local made stuff just as good. I never thought to check yelp for reviews! I accidentally came across them and had to laugh about the comments describing the staff! I recently took a new neighbor for her first trip to PD's. I warned her that no one would smile or make her feel welcome! Also, I think the prices have increased over the last few years. It is no longer as much fun to shop there because you can match their prices many other places. They no longer stand out in the area of discount shops. It was my favorite go-to place for at least 12 years but now is just an occasional place to drop in with no anticipation of a true "find"! read more
