Rather secluded and completely empty when I went there at around 6pm mid August Friday evening. I believe there are 2 areas for a small picnic and grill as well. Make your way up the wooden walkway and in a minute you get to the ocean, beach wide open for you after taking the steps down. There are shells everywhere washed up on shore and tiny little crabs burying into the sand. Only been there once but the waves were rather large that day, not good for kids. Could be different on other days, but were far stronger than at the Pier on emerald Isle.

There is plenty of parking here and the services are kept up. The place is kept neat and clean. There are bathrooms here as well. I enjoy the outdoor showers as we can get showered off and clean off our equipment after coming in from the ocean before getting back into the car. The walk to the ocean is a dream across a well built and properly maintained wooden walkway. It cuts directly through myrtle and yaupon stands so you can see inside that incredibly interesting biome. It is a unique and wonderful experience for birdwatchers and artists. The walkway continues to rise above the dunes and the view of how a barrier looks in pristine state is received. Wonderful! The walkway continues down to the beach. There are stairs that lead down to the shore. Though it is difficult getting a wheelchair down there is a small deck at the top where, with umbrellas or other means, the view and breezes could be enjoyed. The beach itself is a great place to visit. The waters are clear. There is no lifeguard here so all caution should be taken. Riptides and occasional sharks occur here. At high tide the two 'shelves' that are close in will be obscured, so be careful. During turtle breeding season there may be nests near this location. I love to observe them even if I am not there during hatching. Shorebirds sometimes abound and porpoises, dolphins and even whales may be seen!

You can see glimpses of the park along the I-70 freeway on the south side of the Neuse River Bridge. There are boat launch areas and lots of beautiful wooden walkways with small fishing piers, benches, picnic areas, trails, a playground and the feel and scents of a marine environment. When I was leaving after watching the hoveround gang come and flex their AARP affiliation, I had SIX people come out (they have walkie talkies) and tell me I had too many rods and that though the one was beaten like a dead mule and visibly not usable (missing the top of the darn rod tbh) that I shouldn't do it there again... because I was idk huckleberry finning for crawdads or something... one or two saying it okay; but six. Jesus, I know this is the first time y'all have had power over other people and such but damn... I might be a bit forgetful at my age now but not that quick. We rode the boat around and down to Washington then stopped by here on our return to the launch to drive home. It was getting to the end of the day with the air cooling down and the sun setting. This spot combined with the Blount's Creek that lets out through here made for a wonderfully peaceful and quiet setting. The docks were clean. There's a gas pump with extending hose line so you can fill your boat at the dock. Inside there's an expansive store with shirts, food, snacks, boat and camping supplies. Even tube, kayak and SUP rentals. But I would be remiss not to mention the funny and friendly staff serving up ice cream. It's not 31 flavors but I think most anyone can find something they like out of the 6 or so they have. Looking for a chill out to wrap up a day on the water? This is the place.

Without question, the boardwalk and piers are the centerpiece of the property, measuring over 4,000 feet long and ten feet wide. You can take some beautiful photos of the boardwalk hovering over the water or silhouetted against the sky. The scenery along the boardwalk is gorgeous with pretty views of the Sound, sand dunes, fallen trees, and seagrass. We saw plenty of people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and simply strolling along the boardwalk or ducking into stores, bars, and restaurants, or relaxing on one of the twenty-one benches. All of the sites were flat (which is what you want), and offered plenty of privacy (The sites were very spacious from one another). All RV sites consist of 30 and 50 amp hookups, as well as a connection to fresh water, and a sewage pipe. The bath house was new and clean. It was modern on the inside, offered hot water (even in 20 degrees), and was well taken care of. The camp host does a great job at taking care of this site. I would highly recommend that you stay/visit Goose Creek when you can. It is a great hidden spot that offers a wide array of trails and activities.

There were a plethora of fishermen and fisherwomen. I was astounded by how many catches everyone got, in the hour I spent on the pier. Many different types of fish were caught using different lures, fishing rods, and homemade contraptions. There was a shop, where I paid my entry fee, that had fresh blood worms, fishing tackle, t-shirts, and anything else you needed to be great. The view was amazing and humbling. I think I started to get a little sea sick because the pier was rocking as the waves hit it The further I walked to the end of the pier, I said a little prayer that my knees/legs wouldn't give out on me or I wouldn't lose my breakfast, in front of all these people I will be back and enjoyed every moment!

The weather was perfect and we saw tons of wildlife - birds, crabs, hermit crabs, stringrays, fish, and heard that there were dolphins around (unfortunately didn't get to see any). They provided life jackets and had waterproof bags that you can rent to put your belongings in. Overall an enjoyable experience, would definitely recommend!

My aunt who lives at the beach booked a family kayaking trip to find shark teeth. I have kayaked…read morebefore but I had never found shark teeth prior to this excursion. This 2 hour trip was the perfect amount of time in the sun, we all got just a little bit of color and found a lot of shark teeth! There was 5 of us and we were all able to find some. The short kayaking trip is 1/4 of a mile and does not take that long at all. You have to pass over one main area but it is not too hard to spot the boats. Definitely do not go on a windy day. The wind and current will be pulling you and it will be an arm workout you never expected. We had pretty good weather; sunny, light wind; nothing crazy ! It was a nice day. Definitely would do again.
