Tucked away in an inconspicuous strip center, Foods for Health has had surprisingly good business for many years considering it's Rolla and Wal-Mart is only half a mile down the road. That said, the products at Foods for Health might be twice the cost of what you'd pay at Wal-Mart but you'll be supporting a local business and buying products made by smaller and probably more socially responsible companies. Half of the store is groceries and nutritional supplements where you can find bulk-packaged dried beans, canned goods, cereals, nuts, dried fruit, flours, frozen foods, local eggs and cheese, vegan cheese and ice cream, and every possible health supplement you could want. The other half consists of books on health and diet issues, cosmetics, and toiletries. Foods for Health also provides massage services which I think you need to do by appointment. And if you're turned off by the higher prices, go there after Christmas when they have a 10% sale. They also accept SNAP benefits (food stamps).

So, I came into the PX GNC today to see they had a BOGO 50% off their brand protein. I decided to…read morepick it up at the GNC by the class six since I had other business in that building. When I go to that one they do not have the BOGO sign on their protein so I asked why the other one did. The manager said it was a mistake on their part and if I go back they should honor that. She also said she was going to call them and tell them to update their sign (why she couldn't have just gave me the price right there baffles me). I drive BACK to the GNC at the PX only to be met with attitude from an employee named Curtis. I asked about the signs (which are now gone) and he said the signs are no longer up so it does not apply and that his manager told him to take them down. I told him I understood that but I was the one who told her and that she said they needed to honor the price. He keeps going back and forth with me even after I asked him to call her and finally he says "fine, we will honor it" with attitude as if he's doing me a huge favor. At this point I'm so irritated I no longer want to spend a dime at either store. I walk out and will spend a few more dollars online with a store that appreciates their customers.
