Okay, it's quite small, and doesn't offer the elaborate gardens that some of the other parks seem to do, but a part of me does quite like it. There are spots for some ball games (including a basketball hoop, which is actually a ball game you can play by yourself, though I'm sure if you were doing that somebody would probably come along and attempt to steal your ball) as well as some play equipment for the kids. However what I really like about this park are all the old houses surrounding it, which gives this place a huge amount of charm.

Lots of business people walking through on their lunch breaks and folks travelling to and from their workplace by foot through the park during peak times. Watch out for bikes speeding through though. Large off-lead area to allow your furry pals to let of some of their steam. Kids playground and toilet facilities within the park... and a majority of the ovals are booked out over the summer months for team sports. Great park to go with friends in summertime for a picnic. Well maintained lawns, etc. Keep an eye out for the cute little possoms at night. x

I have been known to take unnecessary detours through Fawkner Park just in case someone's dog wants to come say hi to me. It's such a good park for it. While not fully enclosed like some dog parks, there is substantial tree coverage and the middle sections are not too close to any major intersections - so unless you have a pup known for bolting, safer than most off lead areas. A former employer of mine even holds their Canine Christmas parties here! But dogs aside, this is a nice park and deceptive in size. Hidden away between busy St. Kilda Road and Commercial Road, there are massive divided sections of park here with great walking/cycling tracks through the middle. On a daily basis you'll find people working out, playing soccer, lunching, or teaching their kids how to ride a bike. Plenty of bench seating and shady spots, I've also spent a few hours just hanging around here with friends for a lazy chat in the sun. A nice inner city sanctuary.

Some even have beers in hand when not slogging said balls. Albert Park driving range has 2 levels to smack your balls. You can hire loads of balls (100) for under $20. They also have a putting area to hone your close range skills. And they offer a basic tuition lesson for those who are keen. It's a basic driving range and it could perhaps have a larger refreshment area, but it does sell beer which I thought was a winner and you can also have fun by trying to hit the ball cart when it's out picking up balls. All up A-OK!

The APDR boasts two ultra cool levels of where you can swing for 75 or if you've really had a bad day aim for over 250. You can purchase a bucket of 50 balls or 100 balls for under $20 and if you decide to turn pro there is weekly demonstrations with coaching and a putting green where lessons can be held.

Signed up for 1 class per week just over a month ago to check it out before joining a gym . It's awesome! Really fun energetic classes, down to earth & complete with a woman's touch (hot flannels, oranges, free classes & gear & complimentary goal setting with a trainer!) I love group fitness training but I find most gym classes stuck in a time warp & I'd rather starve myself then get up at 5am for bootcamp!?!. You gotta love grrrl rock & have a playful spirit. Oh & there's a really cool supportive womens community vibe. I'm signing on for an Unlimited pass next term... & how many places can you work out & have a beer on tap afterwards?! ;-)
