I was craving Jaeyukbokkum and wanted to try somewhere new, so drove over to Seminole to give this place a try. Tried the kimchi soup, tempura shrimp, pajeon, some rolls, and a dosirak. The food here tastes very homemade, and I liked it. The bottled beer is decently priced. I'm not a huge fan of their sushi, but their cooked dishes are just fine. A very small location with only 5 tables. Great husband and wife, family style service. read more

Not impressed with the food. Hawaiian Tuna Poké was not the traditional flavors I expected. The tuna was tough to eat. Rice was warm. No music inside, instead we are forced to listen to an Asian talk show or something. read more

Oya Sushi - Karate Roll and Tuna Poke - Sushi Bars Near Me - Seminole, Florida

Cute lil mom and pop sushi restaurant. The place was small and only had two people working. But I have to give it to them both for the extremely accommodating service for having the food tasting sooooo delicious for it being cooked to order and served in a timely matter. It was quiet in the restaurant which made it a little awkward to hear everyone's conversation but besides from that. It's perfect for their food and costs. I will definitely be back for the awesome service from the hardworking couple. Thank you for the best service and delicious food. read more

The sushi is always great. Sometimes the sides (Veggie Tempura) is really greasy. They have a great lunch special and a dinner special. Not much seating so we usually always take to go. It is a husband and wife that run it and they do a great job. Closed on Monday. Takes a while to prepare your meal but it's worth it. read more

Went here for lunch and got two sushi lunch specials and edamame. The edamame was well cooked and fresh. I got the karate roll (eel, tuna and avocado) and the Mexican roll. Both were six pieces each and it was enough to fill me up. We each got a side of meat tempura with our special. I didn't care for the fish tempura but the chicken tempura was good. My boyfriend got the salmon tempura roll and chicken tempura roll. I tried both, I loved the chicken tempura roll but was not a fan of the salmon. The salmon seemed bland to me. He liked both the rolls but it didn't fill him up enough so we got him food afterwards too. Overall good sushi, the rice was super fresh. As for the decor, the place is super dated. The tables you could tell haven't been replaced in a while and are kind of sticky. The ceiling is an interesting sponged black and blue look and the light panels have what seemed like a black piece of paper in them to make the lighting darker. I wasn't impressed with the look of the place at all. The menu was blocked off in a good amount of places with little white pieces of paper so that probably needs to be updated as well. I wanted to get the spring rolls as my side but the lady told us they don't have them anymore. read more

My wife and I brought our son here for his nine month birthday and we enjoyed our dinner here very much. We ordered the kimchi soup, tuna poke and the sushi dinner special. The ingredients were simple and healthy. We plan to eat here again! read more

Excellent local spot! We got the dinner sushi combo with 3 different rolls that were handmade and delicious. We also got their Korean spicy chicken dish that reminded me of my time visiting there. Pork gyoza and pork dumpling were crispy and came out fresh. Food was overall great, we were not disappointed! read more

Disappointed. My last three orders have been wrong, and today this happened. This is not how you "add cream cheese" to a sushi roll. It looks like laziness. I usually like this place but when the quality goes down hill it needs to be mentioned. read more

Oya Sushi - Sushi Bars Near Me - Seminole, Florida

There's better sushi to be had in this world, and probably better sushi to be had here in Pinellas County, but I can say with certainty there is not better sushi for the price. For $7 at lunch, you can get two rolls (or substitute some nigiri) plus a side like veggie tempura. For a mere $10 at dinner, you can get THREE rolls and/or nigiri plus a side plus miso soup. Most of the sushi is quite good, and they're generous with the options you can pick from. And with avocado. They have cooked options including some Korean entrees that seemed interesting, but I haven't branched out from sushi combos yet. It's not fancy, but it's fresh, tasty, the staff is friendly, and you can't beat their deals. read more

New to the area and since this is close by, my husband and I gave it a shot. It somehow has 4 stars so it seemed promising. Pretty mediocre sushi, honestly. Like some other reviews said- super bland and way too much rice. Also, there's a lack of variety. Almost all of the special rolls have eel, which is about the only sushi line I draw. Sadly, we will not be retuning. read more

Once or twice a month my husband and I, along with a friend go out and try to find a new restaurant. Last night our intent was to try out the new Osaka's sushi and Thai. When we arrived we were very surprised to find this location was closed on a Sunday. We decided just to drive up Park Blvd and stop at the first Sushi place we could find, which led us to Oya's sushi. When we pulled up we all looked at each other wondering if we really wanted to go in. There were NO other cars in the parking lot and it looked like a "tiny hole in the wall" type of place. Despite our skepticism we decided to go in. Once inside you could see just how small and empty the place really was. Not only that it was extremely quiet. NO music or sounds at all. Still skeptical we sat down and decided to try it and boy am I glad we did! The waitress that came to our table spoke very little English but she was very polite and understood everything that we ordered. My husband and I decided to split a Chicken Teriyaki bowl for $7.99. That chicken bowl is one of the best meals I've ever had at a sushi place! The chicken was tender and juicy with the sauce being very sweet and smokey. The broccoli and green beans were nice and crisp and the rice was perfectly cooked. Next our table ordered 7 rolls of sushi. We had the California, Tampa Roll, Volcano roll and a few others that our friend had ordered. We ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for the sushi and it made me glad we ordered the chicken bowl first. The sushi was very good. Some fancy and some very plain. All in all it was fresh and delicious. Our favorite ended up being the Volcano. It was fresh and baked with a bunch of yummy gooeyness! From the outside (and the inside) this place doesn't look like much but I am telling you to go out and try it! All of the food was amazing and the prices on the sushi are some of the lowest we've ever seen. We will definitely be going back in the future. read more

This place has the best sushi deals I've found in the area. Sure, it's not high quality top shelf rolls, but the seafood is fresh and the sushi is tasty. Their 7 dollar lunch comes with two rolls and a side app and their dinner comes with three rolls, a side app and soup for 10 bucks. Can't beat it. I have yet to try their Korean dishes as I usually always stick to the sushi, but they do look tasty! There is not much room on the inside, maybe three or four tables, but I usually get mine to go. They remain one of my quick and cheap lunch and dinner spots and will continue to as long as they're open. read more

Horrible experience. Called in an order, when I got to the restaurant they didn't have it. Spent 5 minutes arguing with me that I didn't call instead of just offering to quickly make it. Kept telling me it was my fault. Won't ever be back to these horribly rude people. read more

This place is tucked in a small strip mall in the corner. It's nice and cozy inside not to big. Maybe 7 tables. It's a husband and wife who takes the orders and the prices are great. A ton of food for a reasonable price! my husband and I got the dinner specials. I got the Mexican Roll, Tampa Roll & California Roll with Cucumber Salad. It was all good. Can I just say that I love Yelp!! I needed to find a sushi place in close proximity to where I live as I was taking some rolls on a picnic. I saw that this place had good reviews, was close by and opened early on Saturday. I called in my order and 20 mins later is was ready for pick up. The order had to sit in the car for 2 hours until I arrived to my destination. Upon arrival, I opened my order and dove in. The California roll was the best I've ever had!!! The rice was superbly cooked, nice texture! The flavors in this roll were on point, fresh ingredients. I also ordered the Spicy Tuna roll and although I don't usually eat tuna, this was scrumptious. I also had their egg rolls which were very good. I found my new go to sushi spot!! read more

This is a tiny, unassuming spot right in Seminole next to the car wash on Park. Food is excellent. The raw and the cooked. Their lunch special is seven bucks for a lot of food, dinner special is even more food for ten bucks. Get the dinner special at lunch and ENJOY. Beer and wine served. Handicapped friendly. Owners speak little English but are nice. Updated August 10. We go there at least four times a week and take advantage of their lunch and dinner specials. Yesterday I was served rotten tuna and rotten seaweed salad and was sick from it all night long. I will never return to Oya sushi. read more

This restaurant serves probably my favorite fried rice. It's cooked with sesame oil, instead of soy sauce. I am vegan, so I ask mine with tofu. Their spring rolls are delicious too! I haven't tried other plates with them since most include some type of meat. Portions are really good too; I always eat half of my fried rice and end up eating the other half on next day. The restaurant itself is small but service is always on point. I always call ahead to order and even though they give a 15-20 wait time, food is always ready in shorter time. Basically I rarely wait. read more

Mom and pop restaurant, price is great. It has combination of Korean and Japanese items on menu. Due to the price, the seafood pancake is smaller and less seafood, however, can't complaint for that price point. To my surprise, it offers sashimi bent and came out great. Overall, I enjoyed the experience here. read more

The staff was kind of rude, food was mediocre. I ordered a volcano roll and the rice was soggy and falling apart. I normally use chopsticks to eat sushi but since it was SO soggy, I had to use a fork and even then half the time it didn't make it to my mouth before falling apart. The prices were not great. read more

If you haven't tried this place I highly recommend it. It's a small place but the food is great and the value is amazing. Every time I take somebody they usually end up coming back and occasionally I'll even get an invite to go back with them LOL. We Go There all the time. My wife doesn't even need to order since they already know what she wants. I love that kind of service and the couple that runs the place...amazing. The staff/owners? aren't very welcoming or friendly in here, but the food was great! Just make sure to double check your final bill! They did NOT include an itemized receipt. They did correct the issue, but not until pointed out to them...... read more

Went to lunch with a friend. We both had the sushi lunch special. I had a spicy tuna roll as well as a Mexican roll. Both were just okay...nothing special. There are quite a few sushi competitors in the area. This place isn't on the high end of Japanese cuisine. With that said, I thought it was worth the price we paid.
