The cottages all have private decks, new barbecues, and a view of Doe Lake. The water is great for swimming. There were toys for the kids. There is a good-sized deck and chairs by the water. There is also a boat house with ping-pong, shuffleboard, cards, games, etc. There are also 2 floating docks with a slide. After staying last minute for 2 nights, we know we're going to come back next summer...and we're bringing family and friends to stay with us.

The place itself is a cottage so it's not fancy by any means but there are plenty of amenities lots of pedal boats chaos canoes standup paddleboard's trampoline for children to play on a playground a large field picnic tables fire pits etc etc. You just have to remember to bring your own paper products soaps beddings and good. There is no restaurant or places to buy food in the near vicinity. It's probably a 15 minute drive or so to get to the nearest town. The cottages are very clean and tidy there was no bugs or anything besides the usual mosquitoes outside but even then we went in early spring so there weren't that many due to the cooler weather. A lot of people bring their own firewood but they do have firewood for sale by the barrel for 20 bucks if you need it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It is about 20 minutes to Bracebridge.

Arowhon Pines is simply one of my favourite places, not just in Canada, but in the world…read more There is a reason why the closing shot of a Tourism Ontario tv commercial was of the sun setting on the water at Arowhon when I was watching television in Geneva, Switzerland. While the resort is costly, do not expect luxurious accommodations. The cabins are simple and rustic. You are paying for one of the most beautiful natural locations in Canada in Algonquin Park and a first class kitchen where you can order just about any amount of anything prepared each day on their pre-set menu. You are welcome to order one main course followed by a second main course or something tasty you noticed on your friend's plate. They also offer a very large, delicious sweet table at lunch and dinner. We stayed at Arowhon this summer for the first time in many years. Despite new ownership they have not missed a step. Perfect customer service, paired with lots of wildlife (we saw a beaver swim by the dock) and gorgeous food. There were too many delicious dishes to remember. The maple glazed ham was the best I had ever had. And yet the lobster with ginger and orange and prime rib were also delectable. The sweet table was almost overwhelming. There were so many amazing things that I wanted to try I literally could not taste them all. The cherry pie, butter tarts, pastry with custard and blueberries, and lemon tart were all shockingly good. Arowhon is a very special place that I would recommend to anyone.

Our cabin was nice and comfortable. The AC worked well, the beds were comfy, and we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. There are also a ton of amenities here, including tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats, which is where we unfortunately found some of the shortcomings. We were told that the amenities were available from 9 AM to 7 PM, but the office closes at 5 PM. That became confusing because after 5 PM, there's no access to the life jackets, paddles, balls, rackets, etc. We would have loved to take a canoe out around sunset, but that simply wasn't possible because of the way the equipment access worked. It would be nice if there were a way to access the equipment during the full advertised amenity hours. There were also geese droppings pretty much everywhere, so definitely watch where you're stepping! A few of the other rules and policies were also a little unclear to us, so better communication and clearer information would definitely improve the experience. That being said, we still had a good time here. The peaceful location, comfortable cabin, and amount of amenities make this a nice option for a Muskoka getaway. We just wish some of the amenities were a little more accessible and the rules were communicated more clearly. The accommodations are always clean however if you're staying in one of the cabins, expect some bugs around. Mosquito nets are provided for the beds when sleeping in a cabin. The bunkhouse has a shared kitchen with all the flatware, pots and pans and even spices available to use. There is also a shared fridge in the bunkhouse and then each cabin also has its own small fridge. If you stay at a cabin, there are shared washrooms that are a short walk away. They are flush toilets and always clean, in my experience. There are canoe rentals nearby and lots of hiking trails to keep you entertained. It's a lovely getaway from the bustle of the city!
